Following on from the previous thread, someone asked for another to be created.

Here it is.

Harry also used a speech before bereaved parents to witter on about becoming a father in typical I'm the First Man to Procreate Aren't I Special fashion

When was this? That's absolutely disgusting. Does he have a brain?

mrscampbellblackagain · 11/01/2020 16:39

I think it is easy for people in other countries to show a lot of support for H&M because they don't fund them to be honest.

Regards the timing of the announcement, it was going to be soon surely as they had left Archie in Canada - doesn't seem like Meghan was planning on hanging around in the UK for long.

LovePoppy · 11/01/2020 16:39

@jollybird the cognitive dissonance people have about racism is shocking.

jollybird · 11/01/2020 16:40

Emin, a lot of Kate's speeches are about being a Mum and how she felt as a first time Mum.

Anyone care to comment on that?

pallasathena · 11/01/2020 16:40

This country can be a toxic place to live compared to many, many other places in the world.
And I feel for those of you bringing up young children here post Brexit. If I was at your stage of life with those responsibilities I'd get the hell out too.
They're right to go.

jollybird · 11/01/2020 16:40

Is Kate all me me me?

mrscampbellblackagain · 11/01/2020 16:41

But, on all these threads I do think the general consensus is it is of course fine for them to go but they shouldn't receive funding and would be easier to just stop doing any Royal duties. So be like Zara, appear for Trooping of the colour etc.

Assume Charles isn't going to cut Harry off with no money, after all he has supported him for the last 35 years.

jollybird · 11/01/2020 16:42

Oh absolutely love poppy.
Absolutely.

Leighhalfpennysthigh · 11/01/2020 16:43

, a lot of Kate's speeches are about being a Mum and how she felt as a first time Mum

Were they in front of bereaved parents? If so, also, disgusting. If not, crack on who cares.

Oakenbeach · 11/01/2020 16:44

The article was very racist in tone. The fact that so many argue it isn’t is mind boggling.

How is it racist? Genuine question.

LauraAurora79 · 11/01/2020 16:44

Puzzled i agree with you about Trevor Engelson and his entire family actually. No-one seems to have said a word. I wonder if they signed some kind of agreement?

eminencegrise · 11/01/2020 16:45

So what, jollybird, he banged on about it at a symposium with loads of people whose children are dead, that's how little self-awareness he has. It was mind-blowingly insensitive, but hey, what else can you expect from a person who took a private jet to a climate change conference.

Sick of funding this pair of spoilt brats.

jollybird · 11/01/2020 16:45

Criticism (which she has faced) isn’t the same as hatred.

You call it criticism.

I call it something else entirely.

halcyondays · 11/01/2020 16:45

A lot of it is racist, a lot of it is anti-Americanism, but a lot of it is exactly the same kind of crap that the media has written about other royals. They’ve always tended to switch between calling people like Fergie a breath of fresh air, then going on to horrible stories criticising them for stupid little things.

There was a lot of vitriol towards Camilla but she ignored it, married Charles and got on with the job.

Even the queen has been criticised in the press, although not in quite the same way. Like when she didn’t comment publicly on Diana’s death.

So it was very unlikely that she’d be the first ever royal to only have nice stuff printed about her in the papers.

I think they are right to sue for the racist articles but they need to let some of the other stuff go, like the avocado story.

eminencegrise · 11/01/2020 16:46

Yeah, I wonder that, too.

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 11/01/2020 16:47

I agree with Oakenbeach

The Daily Fail is notoriously class focused. If Harry had married a girl whose parents were brought up on an estate in say Bradford, or some other rough side of London (there are few left due to gentrification) they would have seized on that. I remember a story where a man shot and killed his ex wife and children and the DF headline was followed with a blurb saying something ridiculous like: Family found dead in £350,000 home!' Followed by silly allusions to 'neighbours in the quiet street where houses sell for excess of £300,00 expressed shock that something of such a violet nature could occur in their area'. Comments are always given asking what does the house price or the MIL's occupation have to do with anything? They report through the lens of class all the time. It's not popular for nothing.

jollybird · 11/01/2020 16:47

Equally, I'm sick of the nitpicking where this lovely couple is concerned.

He had to make a speech, found common ground to base the speech on and the consensus is he was offensive?

jollybird · 11/01/2020 16:48

Are*

Andylion · 11/01/2020 16:48

None of us know what they discussed when they got married, what MM may have known about the RF’s lifestyle or their future plans.

Even if you don't believe the DM's article in which a friend claims that Meghan was infatuated with Diana, (and Em not saying that I do), you would assume that she might have popped on over to the internet to see what was up with RF.

LovePoppy · 11/01/2020 16:49

@Oakenbeach, @jollybird pointed out the racism when she posted the link.

I suggest you read her post again.

AraGrand · 11/01/2020 16:49

Does anyone agree that she has been underhand in how she has gone about this? Never once has she spoken out publicly. She does it all behind the scenes.

If it was me, I'd have issued a statement in collaboration with the Queen along the lines of "It is with much optimism that we have made a decision as a family to move to Canada. This will involve us gradually withdrawing from Royal duties as we seek to forge our own path. We are doing this with the full support of the Royal Family and Her Majesty the Queen. We hope that you will support us in this new chapter and we thank you for your hospitality.'

Instead they said - FUCK YOU PACK OF CUNTS - WE'RE ORF!

Mummyoflittledragon · 11/01/2020 16:49

There are some fantastic posts on this thread. I agree MM will eat him up and spit him out. I hope Harry will learn something from this.

Unfortunately the RF were on a hiding to nowhere with the match. Had there been objections, there would have been public outcry. In the pre media days, she would have been silently sidelined for being a social climber - even if we ignore the fact she’s a divorcee.

The parallels to Wallace Simpson in some way are interesting. Instead of doting on the man, who gave up his throne for her, she was regularly writing to her ex husband, whom she apparently missed deeply. I wonder who MM will be writing to or pining over.

jollybird · 11/01/2020 16:50

Leigh, if they take breath a lot of people find it offensive.

Just why is that?

LovePoppy · 11/01/2020 16:52

@Oakenbeach

Give this a read

I think that might have been at the Well Child Awards, where Gaby Roslin patted Harry on the back as he fought back tears?

Faced with such obviously suffering parents it seemed a bit self indulgent to me, but there you go
