Following on from the previous thread, someone asked for another to be created.

Here it is.

I don't think anyone wants Harry to go away. Just Meghan lol

AutumnRose1 · 11/01/2020 15:56

Jilly "It’s all annoying stuff, but couldn’t it just be ignored?"

well it could but they are part of a very small group who can actually get something done about it, which I think is something I'd want to use as well.

the "compton" thing came to my attention at work and it's just so ragingly racist. I did have a colleague who said, when they were dating, "the Royal Family will not allow that marriage". In spite of not being a royalist, I was so pleased when it went ahead because I saw it as a sign of privilege. Then you see things like that Compton headline and just want to barf.

As for the house stuff - if it's untrue then it's really helped to create an appalling reputation, so why not sue if you can? It might actually go some way to reigning in the gutter press.

AraGrand · 11/01/2020 15:56

@Parker231 From being older and wiser than she is and watching this farcical palaver for 2 years now.

AraGrand · 11/01/2020 15:57

What is the 'Compton headline'?

Puzzledandpissedoff · 11/01/2020 15:58

AllTheWhoresOfMalta

I completely respect your point about "taking the lead" with someone you know to be very shy, but this has hardly seemed to apply to Harry in the past; he's guaranteed the warmest of welcomes and the most considerate treatment wherever he goes, and certainly he always appeared pretty keen to get stuck in before Meghan arrived

No doubt someone will insist he was "masking his suffering" all along and that she alone understands him, but after the painful scene when arriving at Canada House I'm frankly not convinced

Wheresthebeach · 11/01/2020 15:58

I fear the RF will bend over backwards for Harry, which will not go down well with the public. They are, simply, publicity hounds.

Agree MM couldn't cope with being second fiddle to Kate, making the announcement on the day of her Birthday celebrations was just unkind and meant to overshadow her.

They ignored the Queen, timed it for maximum impact on the family, and now are posting about secret visits to Grenfell Tower victims.

They aren't after a quiet life at all. They want the riches, contacts and status of being Royal without the hard graft and constraints of protocol. They also want to wallow publically - 'poor us we're so misunderstood.'

AutumnRose1 · 11/01/2020 15:59

puzzled what was the painful scene please? Thank you.

jollybird · 11/01/2020 16:00

If she is older, wiser and cruel then thank goodness.

She needs to be to deal with this level of bullying and viciousness towards her.

Parker231 · 11/01/2020 16:01

@AraGrand - what examples do you have of this - have you met her?

But I think she's older, wiser and crueller than him. She's cold and calculating

AraGrand · 11/01/2020 16:01

When has Meghan actually gone in front of the press and made a statement? Never.
All she does is work behind the scenes and issues statements via Instagram.
Have the balls to fucking put your money where your mouth is and tell us all to fuck off in person. Insidiously doing it the way she has (and I fully believe this all her doing), is cowardly.

The80sweregreat · 11/01/2020 16:01

Aragrand, I do agree with you.

Some people cannot deal with not getting their own way or see the other persons point of view at all.
I know someone like this, me me me and if you do get a word in you can see their eyes glaze over and they switch off. It's all about their personal gratification at all times and will destroy anyone in their path to get it.
Some people are tough and can do all this without any kind of real thought process of how it affects anyone else , or they simply do not see it!

Leighhalfpennysthigh · 11/01/2020 16:01

@Alsohuman I think you're probably right. He won't want to be alone for too long. But can't see this one lasting. It's nit salivating at a breakup - it's called experience and being around for a while and understanding how things pan out.

Notonthestairs · 11/01/2020 16:01

Maybe we should just hold the press to higher standards rather than say "just over look the false reporting".

I've found this thread (and all the others) really interesting. Posters believe they can provide an authoritative assessment of a celebrity (even inventing conversations) - and they believe that because they've read X amounts of reports in newspapers. All the dozens of tiny little "false reports" are quite important because they are building the public's overall view of a character.

No doubt you all say that you've never read those articles. Maybe you won't have searched them out but they'll be on your radar regardless. I'm a republican and have minimal interest and I'd seen a few of them.

eminencegrise · 11/01/2020 16:03

Harry is showing a lot of Prince Andrew stroppiness. What a brat! Whinge, whinge, whinge about how hard done by he is in life. Happy to take the money, though.

AraGrand · 11/01/2020 16:05

You think Harry woke up one morning and said 'You know what Meghan darling, I believe one might move to Canada!'.
In me hole.

AraGrand · 11/01/2020 16:08

We'll find out just how cruel she is when they divorce.

Dongdingdong · 11/01/2020 16:08

I mean their lawyers are suing for thing like: false claims that her favourite food is avocado on toast (and a stupid link to the fact that avocados fund murder).

They’re suing over that? Seriously?

PineapplePower · 11/01/2020 16:09

Agree MM couldn't cope with being second fiddle to Kate, making the announcement on the day of her Birthday celebrations was just unkind and meant to overshadow her

Lmao I don’t like MM all that much but please, Kate’s not 5 years old. Her birthday is pretty meaningless and I doubt Meghan even knew (or was invited Grin)

AraGrand · 11/01/2020 16:09

How old is she now anyway? How old is he?

AraGrand · 11/01/2020 16:10

Her birthday is pretty meaningless and I doubt Meghan even knew (or was invited grin)

Could have been the straw that broke the camel's back lol

Zipadeedoodah · 11/01/2020 16:11

What is interesting is the difference in the UK reaction vs the rest of the world. There seems to be a lot of international support for Meghan and Harry and their decision, whilst the English press seem to have done well to keep drumming up negativity to punish the couple. It seems Harry did try and speak to the Queen and also that he has talked about leaving RF many times, even before he was with M although she seems to be being cast as the villain. Our loss is the world's gain, especially Canada, where I hope they won't have to face such outdated racial and sexism. Well done to them got standing up to the bullies, but makes England and RF look pretty stuck in the dark ages

jollybird · 11/01/2020 16:12

Can not compare Harry to Andrew, who loves to associate with paedophiles.

No comparison at all from where I'm standing.

Can you specifically say what he has been whinging about?

The press intrusion into his life, anyone in his shoes would winge about.

roisinagusniamh · 11/01/2020 16:14

Of course Meghan knew it was Kate’s birthday!
Whether they made the announcement on that day deliberately is anyone’s guess.
Kate is a grown woman not a teen.
Everyone has birthdays !!

Zipadeedoodah · 11/01/2020 16:14

They didn't want to announce it but The Sun were about the break the story. They didn't do it then to ruin Kate's bday ! But she could have done so much to publicly help Meghan - all very well waving the flag for anti-bullying charities but takes a braver person to put their hand on their shoulder of a new mum in a foreign country getting a kicking every day

jollybird · 11/01/2020 16:15

If she does divorce him I wouldn't blame her.
Her life has been made a complete misery.
She is entitled to happiness, aren't we all?
She is free to Marry or divorce who she likes, as we all are.
