Following on from the previous thread, someone asked for another to be created.

Here it is.

Has anyone else noticed that Meghan always leads when they undertake any visits, as if she's the more important?
DH pointed it out, seems quite odd.

APatchyTomCat · 11/01/2020 12:12

That grown man ,who is very capable of making his own choices, decided to give up his career to be with the woman he loves

He’s hardly giving it all up to work down’t pit! Grin

What a load of old shite

astralweaks · 11/01/2020 12:13

@Alsohuman

That grown man ,who is very capable of making his own choices, decided to give up his career to be with the woman he loves

What career?

Exactly. What career? How hilarious.

jollybird · 11/01/2020 12:14

I just hope people start to calm down a bit.

NurseButtercup · 11/01/2020 12:14

@maddy68

Pretty accurate summary the only bit that is missing, is how she was treated and spoken to by the staff that work for her husband's family and some family members. I reckon that has played a big role in her being isolated and unsupported.

astralweaks · 11/01/2020 12:16

This is car crash stuff and is not going to end well. Sadly, although the omens were not good from the beginning, I think now there is no going back.

Sussex brand alcoholic beverages. Oh dear.

BovaryX · 11/01/2020 12:17

Exactly. What career? How hilarious

Precisely. It will be interesting to see how the next phase of Brand Sussex evolves, given the inherent contradictions with monetizing one's role as a UK royal whilst permanently relocating to the US.....

BovaryX · 11/01/2020 12:28

The bottom line is that traipsing around schools in Wales with a dutiful smile stamped on, whilst maintaining the subservient position which is demanded of PH as second son in the royal hierarchy? That was the gig. It's an indication of the total failure to make that explicit which has led to this. Who was advising them? The queasy balance between US expat and UK Prince will swiftly unravel.

blubelle7 · 11/01/2020 12:33

Monetizing Brand Sussex is a mistake and will alienate royalists like me.

I wish them well and can understand and accept their decision but I dont think they should walk away with titles, future engagement roles, or taxpayer funded support or security.

If they really want to make their own way, they must make their own way not capitalise off a role they so clearly despise

blubelle7 · 11/01/2020 12:35

If they do monetise Brand Sussex what's to stop Charlotte selling us her branded water bottles while accepting money from the Duchy of Cornwall when her father has it? Or getting kickbacks from charities and causes she chooses to support. The whole thing slowly unravels

Mummyoflittledragon · 11/01/2020 12:36

That Vogue article is vomit inducing. They really don’t understand the concept of never complain, never explain.

astralweaks · 11/01/2020 12:39

Duty is the gig. PH was envious of PW’s position even when they were children. He is part of the support cast and he knows it. If he had married someone who was more sensitive and less pushy, this situation would not have arisen.

Parker231 · 11/01/2020 12:40

The Queen has some responsibility for this course of action. Everyone was aware how they were struggling with the press intrusion and the Queen has the authority to sort it but hasn’t. They have both spoken about their mental health being affected and no one in their family did anything to help.

astralweaks · 11/01/2020 12:40

I hate the so-called word “monetising” but it certainly seems well suited to their tacky intentions.

astralweaks · 11/01/2020 12:43

They have both spoken about their mental health being affected and no one in their family did anything to help.

They are not the only people in that situation. They are not unique - and are in an excellent position to sort themselves out. The Queen should not have to cope with their insecurities on top of everything else.

MissEliza · 11/01/2020 12:44

@maddy68 what a load of crap that is. The only true in it is that people did criticise her for holding her bump constantly. That was a bit odd.

Ilovecat · 11/01/2020 12:46

I’m old fashioned and I think Harry should not be allowed to marry her. She was not British, already was once married.
I don’t think she was a suitable bride.
I though there was some rules about who to marry into Royal Family.
Kate on the opposite is the perfect match.
Posh, growing up in similar conditions..
she looks and acts like a future queen.
Sadly MM never did.

AutumnRose1 · 11/01/2020 12:46

I've never had a baby but I can imagine that being pregnant would make me hold my bump! (that sounds funny).

If this is about money, then urgh. I really thought it was going to be the start of just stepping away and quietly living on their massive private income. I admit, I don't really understand the empire builders though.

DuchessofWoke · 11/01/2020 12:46

maddy68 😂 that’s the best fiction I’ve ever read. Sounds like something from Take a Break. Thanks for the laugh.

astralweaks · 11/01/2020 12:47

It’s the cake and eat it thing that is despicable. They apparently despise the RF - or to be more specific, the less glamorous parts - so they should just rely on their own honest - ha - endeavours and walk into the future. But no - more hypocrisy it is. Insult heaped upon insult.

Alsohuman · 11/01/2020 12:51

The reason they struggled with the press intrusion was because they didn’t want to conform. The Cambridges understand how it works and, in return, the media give them an easy ride. Hiding where their child was born, refusing to disclose the god parents, twee little pictures of bits of the baby instead of one clear photo all put the backs of the media up. And, now they’re abandoning the roster, it will be far, far worse. All self inflicted.

Ilovecat · 11/01/2020 12:52

Don’t to my post:
And I think MM was probably not happy.
Oh come on- she grew up in sunny US, lived in sunny LA.
I read she was told to dramatically change her wardrobe once she was serious about PH. She had to start wearing longer covering clothes as opposite her mini skirts and open tops..Also she had stop seeing old friends as it was not suitable for her anymore as being a part of RF.
She probably all hated it hence wants out to her old ways, seeing old more suitable friends...etc..
she does not want to sit in rainy UK in a cold old fashioned house if there is always sun shining in LA..
Just my opinion..

Dontsweatthelittlestuff · 11/01/2020 12:54

Left behind the mother she loves!
I don’t doubt she loves her mum but as her mum lives in America and MM prior to her marriage lived 9 months of the year in Canada so the apron strings had long been cut.

I had never heard of MM before the engagement and I don’t know anyone who had. I don’t really watch tv so had never heard of suits either so I asked my adult children who are more the netflicks generation than me. Both had heard of suits but neither had knew who MM was nor were they that impressed with the series. She had a couple of parts in films no one has ever heard of and a life style blog that I don’t know anyone that followed.
Her estimated personal wealth is £4 million so I she clearly had a career and made money but she was hardly in the same circle as the Clooneys and Oprah. Theyncame along with front row seats at the wedding purely because she was marrying a royal. If she had married the hot Canadian chef she was with before Harry than I am sure they wouldn’t have been at the wedding.

MM and Harry want to be brand sussexroyal and hang out with the other awoke Hollywood types. The only problem is the rest of us are getting fed up with the Hollywood awoke and are beginning to call them their hypocrisy.

Leighhalfpennysthigh · 11/01/2020 12:59

@maddy68 omg really? And people believe that bullshit. In fact it is almost as if Meghan and Harry wrote it themselves!

I'm not denigrating acting - my partner is an actor - but it's not finding a cure for cancer is it (he agrees btw). He is a man who, if he hadn't been to Eton and the son of a Prince, would have left school and gone to stack shelves in Tesco or, if he joined the army been a squaddie and definitely not got into Sandhurst.

They are just not that important in the great scheme of things. They have never really done any work with the communities and groups they claim to champion. I mean real work - the stuff that social workers, teachers and volunteers with groups do that doesn't involve turning up for a photocall.

They aren't climate scientists and yet they feel qualified to preach to us about that.

As people have previously said, the whole celeb woke thing is getting old.

Parker231 · 11/01/2020 12:59

What’s wrong with a couple wanting to move to another country ? We live in a different country from both families. The RF is too big so they aren’t going to be needed for royal duties going forward. Non of us know what has happened or their plans for the future.
