Following on from the previous thread, someone asked for another to be created.

Here it is.

jollbird, I don't think people all 'hate' them. We just think you are very misguided and have gone the wrong way about things.

DuchessofWoke · 11/01/2020 11:45

girlfromstoryville

She didn’t say that. There’s no official statement or quote saying that anywhere. It’s been invented.

APatchyTomCat · 11/01/2020 11:47

Is sympathy for the Queen at an all time high?

It may just be in my RL circles, but the Andrew thing and the subsequent (non) response had done real damage to how the Queen is seem, most people I’ve heard discussing it seem to me moving to the ‘whole lot of them are corrupt’ POV

APatchyTomCat · 11/01/2020 11:48

Alsohuman · 11/01/2020 11:50

She did respond, she relieved him of Royal duties. That looks like a pretty clear response to me.

Doubletrouble99 · 11/01/2020 11:52

Jolly bird I haven't heard other members of the Royal family going on about climate change and telling us all we should be changing our habits. The problem H & M have is their big projects but don't do what they preach. W & K took easy jet to Scotland in the summer. Megan has never done that since she has joined the firm.
Charles and Camila go on tour and take an Airforce plane with the whole press pack and all the envoys etc. in it so hardly a 'private jet'.

jollybird · 11/01/2020 11:54

Double trouble- have you looked at twitter?
There is a lot of hatred.

SerenDippitty · 11/01/2020 11:55

Prince William has been going on about overpopulation despite not limiting his own family to replacement size. Which makes him a hypocrite.

AutumnRose1 · 11/01/2020 11:56

Seren agree. I am always pleased when a prominent figure highlights overpopulation, but in recent years it's been Prince William and David Cameron!

jollybird · 11/01/2020 11:56

William spoke about climate change last year- not a peep out of anyone or the media.
I'm willing to bet he and his family have used private jets.

Alsohuman · 11/01/2020 11:58

Twitter’s hardly representative of the population, any more than MN.

jollybird · 11/01/2020 11:58

I hope you don't actually believe Harry and Meghan are the only family members who have used private jets!

BovaryX · 11/01/2020 12:00

Jollybird
Those who use Twitter as a resource for public opinion are still struggling to grasp why Corbyn isn't in Downing street

Genevieva · 11/01/2020 12:01

@TheGirlFromStoryville Andrew hasn't said he wants to bow out of his royal responsibilities. He has had them taken away from him. Actions speak louder than words. Harry and Meghan have said they don't want them. Presumably she doesn't want to lose them from the family firm, so she is naturally disappointed. There are plenty of interesting roles that Andrew has vacated and which need filling, so she may even have hoped that the next generation would step into them.

Tomselleckhaskindeyes · 11/01/2020 12:01

William has introduced the climate change prize which is a brilliant initiative. Pity we aren’t talking about it.

jollybird · 11/01/2020 12:02

The online tabloids- have you looked at the comments section of the mail online?
There is no denying it in my opinion.

jollybird · 11/01/2020 12:03

Bovary- that's as maybe.
But not the issue here. Smile

Saw this on FB

One day a woman gave up her lucrative career that she loved, worked hard for and excelled at as well as earning millions to be with the man that she loves.

She made the decision, which I am positive was extremely emotional, to pack up her entire life, kiss her loved ones good bye and moved to an entirely different country to be with the man she loves.

She said goodbye to her single mother who raised her on her own and life as she knew it to be with the man she loves.

She gave up any ounce of privacy she had once enjoyed and took on the role gracefully and without hesitation to be with the man she loves.

She is constantly scrutinised, bullied and vilified by the media and is the constant target of relentless racism. The tabloid headlines are vile and sickening to read but the people revel in that kind of hatred toward her but she still shows up, she still smiles for the cameras and she never waivers in her support for her husband. She endures to be with the man she loves.

She chose to carry the baby that both her and her husband wanted, suffering through morning sickness, extreme hormonal changes, aches and pains and all the added risks of pregnancy when under extreme pressure.

She was called too fat, too old and too pretentious for protectively holding her growing belly as she grew a human being inside of her, she knew she would no longer be in control of her own body all the while being called a liar who was faking her pregnancy. All to be with the man she loves.

She went through postpartum anxiety and NEARLY broke down in a public interview, she was not offered love and support from the public instead she was called a drama queen!

Accused of just being a great actor capable of crocodile tears yet, only after years of having her acting abilities scrutinised, but she continued to be the pillar of strength in the public eye and raising her baby boy, to be with the man she loves.

The world never bat an eyelid over everything she gave up. The entire world chewed her up, spat her out and then demanded more.

One day a man said he would not be bullied into playing a game that killed his beloved mum. He and his wife made the choice to put theirs and their childs mental health and well-being first.

That grown man ,who is very capable of making his own choices, decided to give up his career to be with the woman he loves.

And the entire world went mad...

Jollybird, I am not sure that the comments section of the Mail Online is representative of the general populace.

It does show the unbelievable levels of vitriol of which some people are capable, though.

Permanently relocating to America and monetizing their titles is fraught with intracractable problems. The Prince Andrew debacle has already seriously damaged attitudes to the RF. The prospect of Brand Sussex taking to the chat show circuit in the US will be another body blow. It will be interesting to see how this is resolved

LauraAurora79 · 11/01/2020 12:06

I'm sure they will win the case against the Daily Mail/Mail on Sunday, and that would have shut everyone up with the nastiness. If leaving the UK and stepping down from being 'senior' royals is indeed all about press and social medial nastiness, then surely that's going to stop all that once and for all.

TheMustressMhor · 11/01/2020 12:07

Oh Lord maddy68 that piece of prose is appalling.

@maddy68

Be bloody have! 😂

Since you are quoting Twitter as a credible source, it's relevant to point out how deluded and dislocated from external reality many of its excitable denizens are. The election result shock and awe is a crystal clear example of this
