I bought the Grenfell cookbook and it was really good. I'm pissed off because I've misplaced it. She got lots of positive press for that. People aren't out to get her.

I agree she could have made a difference. She seemed very engaged when doing events. I guess she wanted more, including more freebies and free to choose what she wanted to do rather than being told by BP what she could and couldn't do.

If you were a prostitute, risking your life every day letting disgusting men have sex with you in cars and doorways, to buy the drugs that put you there....would a banana saying a duchess loves you make one iota of difference?

Who benefits from the signed banana the most in this scenario? The recipient or the giver??

Funny someone should mention Bradford. I heard William and Kate are scheduled to visit there soon and it occurred to me I really don't think MM has really ever had any interest in the British people.And before anyone says why should she ,they are all racist ,I find that deeply offensive to all the decent people I know who live and work in a large,very multicultural city like Bradford.I suspect most people when Harry got engaged and married were like me and couldn't give a stuff what ethnicity or nationality the woman he fell in love with was.A lot of British people were happy for him and just wanted it to work out.
But her flying in for a couple of engagements but mainly to go to Canada House to thank them for being so wonderful, then flying straight out again has been the main reason I have lost respect for her.Isn't she all for female strength and empowerment ?If so why not stay for at least a few weeks to help Harry sort the details before they both move.They have a heavily protected Frogmore as a sanctuary.I think she has her eye on being a global ambassador,and a brand and the boring ordinary folk in Bradford,or Cumbria,or Cornwall were never going to matter -sadly.

Duchess I'm not sure she was thinking along those lines when she did it? I think she was genuinely trying to do something nice and personal and special. And no, I guess it wouldn't make a difference, but at least she tried in the only way open to her at the time.

It was a passive aggressive two fingers up to the UK.

I don't think she went to thank them, for what it's worth - I think they went to sort out visas.

I don't keep up with these things, but I gather that Charles has talked about slimming down the senior royals, and some recent photo of the royal family line and mincemeat excluded Harry, as he is but a spare, and also that in the Queen's speech on Christmas Day, there were photos of many members of the royal family on display, but not those of Andrew or Harry and Meghan. Which would have shown H&M how unimportant they were in the family pecking order, I'd have thought?

MM has never really had any interest in the British people. This is how I feel although I don't have any evidence for that. It seemed from the beginning they were always looking to a more international role.
I also agree the visit to Canada House was a passive aggressive two fingers up to the UK. Very childish.

I think the trademarking of the magazine's, journals etc is the most telling.

I have no idea as no one else does but it does hint at an Oprah style set up.

@DuchessofWoke As a sex worker, or prostitute if you prefer, I can tell you that drawing attention to a charity which not only does a lot of practical good, but actually listens to extremely vulnerable street based sex workers to properly support them, is a good thing.

I honestly can't believe that some people on seeing such an important issue insist on focusing on what Meghan has written on a banana.

They have millions between what she has earned (which is relatively small compared to) & what he has inherited. Become private citizens and live off of the proceeds - problem solved.

Contribute to your security costs, you are a target by chance of birth, but then you have inherited huge unearned wealth by chance of birth as well.

He has done nothing exceptional as an individual, his 'achievements' are all due to the accident of birth that have also placed him in the spotlight. He can't give up one and keep the other. He has been incredibly privileged, and doesn't seem to understand that, or be able to balance that against the downsides.

The problem for me is they seem to want to keep the perks - paid for by tax payers, one way or another - and not have the responsibilities and constraints. To choose or the other would have my respect. To play the victim over the downsides while trying to keep the advantages doesn't.

Also, a lot of PR is making sure people don’t find out certain things!
