Ok ok, we've had loads of threads. I accept their decision to want to resign from public duties - always though Harry might do that ...

BUT ... why should we pay for them? How come they get to keep Frogmore cottage, which WE the tax payer have paid for? And we have just paid over 2 million for them to renovate it???

If they want to go their seperate ways from Royal duties, FINE...... BUT , if they do that, they surely should relinquish the perks (i.e. the house, cars, money that comes with the job) and do what the rest of us do - earn their own.

Apparently their wedding created around a billion in revenue. They've brought in plenty of money so it's fair to keep the house.

Urgh, except it was renovated by the Queen as part of her responsibility to maintain her crown properties. And any specific requests by H&M were paid for by Charles.

I think it is the epitome of entitled and that now they’ve made the decision, they should crack on and disappear from public life (and funding) ASAP.

Prince Andrew is getting zero press attention at the minute despite everything and Harry and Meghan have had so much grief over the last however many months. Good on them.

I think in annoyed as I currently have four jobs and two children and DH works long hours and we r struggling a bit (we r better off than lots, I do know that but..) just can't help feel H&M have no idea about the real world and I am reaaaaally starting to go off the royals! They get something like 10% of their income from us (don't know in what form this is, Radio 4 stated it). They will give this up. And they are stepping back, not stopping completely.

The renovation would have cost you personally as a taxpayer approx 20p. I really cant get worked up about 20p. Yes it chould have been spent better elsewhere but meh
