..to be furious with Harry and Meghan

Ok ok, we've had loads of threads. I accept their decision to want to resign from public duties - always though Harry might do that ...

BUT ... why should we pay for them? How come they get to keep Frogmore cottage, which WE the tax payer have paid for? And we have just paid over 2 million for them to renovate it???

If they want to go their seperate ways from Royal duties, FINE...... BUT , if they do that, they surely should relinquish the perks (i.e. the house, cars, money that comes with the job) and do what the rest of us do - earn their own.

(Feeling irrationally angry for some reason!!!)

FURIOUS.. really??! Get a life!

The other royals are on our taxpayers money too... don't hear you complaining about them?

SallyWD · 09/01/2020 20:34

Oh let them get on with it. There are far more troubling things going on in the world.

BigChocFrenzy · 09/01/2020 20:35

"What’s your beef with the word foreign?"

It's an issue when someone has a beef about Meghan being "foreign"

"Harry is for one hell of a ride with his foreign, older, divorced actress wife. What the hell was he thinking."

JinglingHellsBells · 09/01/2020 20:37

I am actually shocked at the posters here who can't or don't want to see that at the very least H&M have behaved with complete disdain for the Queen.

I don't care if they emigrate and we never see them again.
What I do object to is the way they have landed this on a 93 yr old Queen who said 'hold on' and they ignored her.

They have lived a privileged life at our expense and the least they could do was discuss their feelings with the Queen and Charles, and manage this move in a dignified way with support.

As it is, they have just lost respect from a lot of the public,

PlanDeRaccordement · 09/01/2020 20:37

2.5yr visa, renewed once for total 5yrs, then apply for ILR, then apply for citizenship. Meghan cannot be a U.K. citizen until 2023 at the earliest

"Luxury beliefs
Beliefs held by upper-class people that ultimately work to diminish the lives of lower-class people."

The wealthy uc will easily cope with the serious effects of climate change

  • so long as there is somewhere on earth still habitable, they'll all run off and buy places there

They won't go short of food. Or anything else

Poor people will die disproportionately, as in any disaster

ItIsTheWay · 09/01/2020 20:40

Well maybe you ought to remember that he had a position of privilege and bar a few years in the Forces, he was behaving like an idiot, a spoilt brat, and bringing the RF into disrepute.

What does a Prince do to win in the wokesters Luxury beliefs oppression Olympics?
A - Become a victim.

ALLMYSmellySocks · 09/01/2020 20:40

Absolute rubbish. They haven't lived a privileged life; I'd hate that life. It would destroy my mental health. No privacy, constantly harassed by the press, photoshopped photos to be deliberately unflattering. They have money (Megan already had money so no great benefit to her there) but that's poor compensation. You have no idea about the family dynamics, their mental health, the support or lack of it they've had from the queen.

It’s whoevers under the spotlight, and rightly so. We must be mad looking up to this family and giving them so much wealth and privilege. How they must sneer and look down on us all.

ALLMYSmellySocks · 09/01/2020 20:42

It's a testament to the nastiness pervading this country (and the idiotic accepting of whatever opinions foisted on us by the press) that there are thousands of people "furious" with Megan and Harry yet no threads about Andrew. Ridiculous.

WorriedMum6868 · 09/01/2020 20:43

@jinglinghellsbells
I am more concerned at the way the Queen showed complete disdain for Prince Andrews victim than they way M and H have behaved towards her.
I will say it again. Look at the response of this family to these 2 separate incidents. They are furious with M and H yet have remained tight lipped re the disgusting sweaty abuser in their midst. This tells you all you need to about them. If Meghan came on AIBU we would be telling her to go NC with the in laws ffs

BigChocFrenzy · 09/01/2020 20:44

"I am actually shocked at the posters here who can't or don't want to see that at the very least H&M have behaved with complete disdain for the Queen."

We can see
A very privileged billionaire can no longer control one of her GC
Big deal

The same privileged billionaire who shows disdain for the British public by publicly showing support for hre dodgy son, PA

I'd be happy if they all step back
H&M have made a start
Now the rest should follow

TellMeWhoTheVilliansAre · 09/01/2020 20:45

He wouldn't have got press attention if he'd kept his head down and behaved in a sensible way.

He wouldn't have got press attention if he was any other young lad on the world. Plenty of young fellas don't keep their heads down and behave in a sensible way but it's OK for them?

He was born into a situation he had no say in. He has lived a life he has had very little say in. He is now trying to forge a life for himself and his family, a one where he might actually have a say and not be followed everywhere.

What's the problem? Or should he forever be a slave to a public who resents his existence and the existence of his entire family who seem to only want to keep them in the public eye purely to give out about them living a public life.

bluemoon19 · 09/01/2020 20:45

joyfullittlehippo I know it’s not a popular opinion, all the “shes never put a foot wrong” bs, but I agree with you.

user764329056 · 09/01/2020 20:46

How can anyone get excited about this?

Likethebattle · 09/01/2020 20:47

You are struggling with 4 children. Did this really come as a surprise? It was your choice to have 4 children.

1Morewineplease · 09/01/2020 20:47

I’m not “furious” about them , just annoyed with them.
I wish that all minor royals would just go quietly and earn a private income. The State ( us) shouldn’t be propping them up in their forever privilege. Eg Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, Duke and ( not so much ) Duchess of Kent, Andrew and family, Edward and family and others.
I know that Anne earns her way but don’t know if she’s propped up ( though I know she works hard.)

If Harry and Meghan want to take a step back from royal duties then they should rescind their titles too ( though I expect they may well trade on their titles in the US.)

This story needs to blow over now.

beyondtheshed · 09/01/2020 20:51

There are no threads about Andrew because we all find him revolting. Nothing to discuss. Glad he's 'retired', don't want to see or hear any more about the repulsive non-sweaty turd.

There are threads about Harry and Meghan because there are differing and varied opinions.

BigChocFrenzy · 09/01/2020 20:53

The RF are probably fed up with us
Many of us are certainly fed up with them

I don't particularly mind H&M,
but they all have lived ridiculously privileged lives - with the drawback of being in our goldfish bowl, with us poking at them

Healthier for both the RF and the taxpayers to call it a day
They'll all keep their wealth, as it is against international law to confiscate a family's assets because you disapprove of them

They all live off inherited wealth, but MNers seems pretty keen on inheritances for themselves

  • or do you want to set 100% HIT after a limit of 100,00 / 1 million quid / 10 million quid or whatever ?
notanotherpothole · 09/01/2020 20:56

Seriously, I don't understand why people are surprised by this. Harry lost him mum as a child, she was hounded by the tabloid press and died as a result of this. Now he has his own family he sees the same thing happening to them. His, and his wife's mental health suffers. They take a break and come up with a way to stay sane without completely turning their backs on his life.

Why aren't people setting up threads on how horrendous the British press is for treating them like this? Why isn't he being applauded for putting the mental health of his wife first?

You people are barmy!!

Rosebel · 09/01/2020 20:56

Why does anyone give a fuck what Harry and Meghan do? So they want to go suddenly live their own lives? Big deal.

Temp123999 · 09/01/2020 20:57

@OP
You need to shut the F**K up if you keep directing your hate on the only black member of the Royal Family

bluemoon19 · 09/01/2020 20:58

I think all this arguing over the royals just shows us how wrong it is that we have one. Whatever they do will never be right, they cause such huge resentment, especially now when we have so much hardship and misery for so many. The queens stance on Andrew is inexcusable, even though it is her son.
