Whiny and ungrateful DS

So DS (6) has been badgering me for some big outdoor xmas decorations as a few houses in our road have really gone to town - think inflatable snowmen and santas riding sleighs and a shit ton of lights. Money is very tight at the moment and these sort of decorations are expensive but I didn't want to disappoint him so I spent all morning adapting some existing outdoor halloween decorations we had in the shed ( a four foot Frankenstein and a four foot witch) and made them into Santa Claus and Mrs Claus by adding red/white clothes and hats and wigs and a beard for Santa. It took me ages especially I was "helped" (hindered) by DD (20 months) but was still pleased with the finished result. Anyway when he came home from school and saw them he started crying and pulling at their clothes and spent an hour lying on the sofa crying saying "I don't like Santa with a nail in his neck" (he means the bolt) and "I don't want Mrs Claus to have a big nose". I am gutted - me and DD spent ages on them and DD loves them and keeps looking at them out of the window and clapping. I think he's tired from his school play last night as he was in bed very late but I don't think I'm being unreasonable to say he's ungrateful after I went to all that trouble. Also I asked my neighbour what she thought and she said her granddaughter (she's about 12) had said they "looked weird" and had sent a picture of them on her phone to her friends. I don't know why I bothered now but at least DD loves them.

Am going to need a picture of this though

Etinox · 12/12/2019 22:58

Thank you OP! Grin

kleew1 · 12/12/2019 23:00

Definitely need pictures...

siddo · 12/12/2019 23:01

Oh bless you. I hope you weren't cross with him... like others have said he had an idea in your head and it just didn't fit, they don't do empathy at that age

InsertFunnyUsername · 12/12/2019 23:09

Bless you OP. Kids can be arseholes, especially when presented with a dead santa. It will all be fine, embrace the weirdness.

3luckystars · 12/12/2019 23:18

.

Cherrysoup · 12/12/2019 23:23

Omg, come on, OP, pics, please! This is rare, but I’m laughing at the idea! The collar mostly hides the bolt in his neck? And the beard mostly covers the green face? Absolutely brilliant!! 😂🤢🧟‍♂️

Deck the ghouls with random folly
Tra la la la la whoo whoo
''Tis the season to be a wally
Tra la la la la whoo whoo

Toomuchtrouble4me · 12/12/2019 23:33

Why no photo op? Is this not true? Are you telling a Boris?
Who has outdoor halloween decorations but none for xmas? Photo proof please op.

Shannith · 12/12/2019 23:38

Change just one minor thing and the song takes on a whole new and slightly sinister meaning...

You better watch out
You better not cry
Better not pout
I'm telling you why

FrankenClaus is coming to town

He's making a list
He's checking it twice;
He's gonna find out who's naughty or nice

FrankenClaus is coming to town

He sees you when you're sleeping
He knows when you're awake
He knows when you've been bad or good
So be good for goodness sake!

FrankenClaus is coming to town.

OlaEliza · 12/12/2019 23:39

Really hope this is true! Pics please!!

3luckystars · 12/12/2019 23:48

Merry Shelley Christmas

harriethoyle · 12/12/2019 23:48

I am crying with laughter although you are clearly a dreadful liar

Snoopdogsbitch · 13/12/2019 00:03

OP you're getting a really hard time from people who clearly don't know what it feels like to not be able to just fling money at a request. Why is it funny that OP has tried to make her son happy with some creativity? Perhaps it's backfired, but that doesn't give others the right to slag off a parent's best efforts when there's no budget for what they really want to.do. Cruel and unnecessary.

stupidtabloidheadlines · 13/12/2019 01:02

The green face bit has killed me. I'm cackling like a witch.

MummytoCSJH · 13/12/2019 01:04

You really should have just said no sorry not this year Grin

Gingerkittykat · 13/12/2019 01:15

Are you the same person who posted the stupid threads about locking a kid in the garage last night?

ForkThis · 13/12/2019 01:16

FrankenSanta 😂😂😂😂

I’m dead 😂😂😂

LemonPrism · 13/12/2019 01:19

Bless you, you tried and it must hurt for your son not to care but... he is 6. He doesn't understand money and working hard at something. Ugly Santa was probs not the best shout

MashedSpud · 13/12/2019 01:21

Funniest post in ages.

I bet they look great, photo please.

PixieDustt · 13/12/2019 01:26

@Snoopdogsbitch I agree Sad

Happyspud · 13/12/2019 01:28

I think you did something really cool.

But I’m not surprised at your DSs reaction😅

6 is old enough for you to explain the cost of things and come up with something nice to do instead like bake cookies or something.
