Sorry wasn't sure where else to post not quite an AIBU, but I could make it into one I suppose.

Just interested to know on average how much sleep you get every night? How old you are (if you want to disclose) and your sex (again if you want to disclose).

I will start I am a female, 26 and get on average 7.5 hours a night. Is this unreasonable in your opinion?

OP posts:
Snowflake9 · 28/11/2019 19:21

Female. 28. 5/6 hours average a night.

namechangenumber2 · 28/11/2019 19:21

Female, 39 and get about 6.5-7 hours sleep. Not enough for me really so I normally end up napping in the afternoon Grin

Ideally I need at least another hour.

aLilNonnyMouse · 28/11/2019 19:22

8-10 hours a night although it's fairly broken up into chunks. I have Fibro so anything less and I can't function.

CheeryB · 28/11/2019 19:23

Female. Early 60s. 5/6 hours per night.

ClashCityRocker · 28/11/2019 19:23

Six hours is usually the max, and is good enough.

I would like to say I use the extra hours for something productive, but I don't.

ClashCityRocker · 28/11/2019 19:24

Ah sorry I'm a 33 year old female.

lljkk · 28/11/2019 19:24

Do you feel rested OP, would you stay in bed & sleep longer if you didn't have other stuff to do?

anothernamereally · 28/11/2019 19:25

5-6 hours most nights 7-8 once a week- I manage, 41 and female

MuchTooTired · 28/11/2019 19:26

33 year old female, I average 5-6 hours a night. Pre DTs, I averaged 8-9 hours.

MindDisco · 28/11/2019 19:26

Normally 7-8 hours. I know I need my sleep and will prioritise it over other things. I slept 9 hours last night and it was amazing!

rosegoldivy · 28/11/2019 19:27

32, female and I get about 4-7 hours sleep, though I have a 4 month old so the 4-7 hours is usually broken and followed up by several coffees.

Then when baby is staying with granny I can easily sleep 15 hours straight. These are my fav nights hahahah

god I miss sleep

GaaaaarlicBread · 28/11/2019 19:28

Female, 25, 4-5 hours , not enough

fluffedupferretonsteroids · 28/11/2019 19:28

23, female. I get around 6 broken up hours of sleep, max 3 hours a time, due to baby and being pregnant.

SilverySurfer · 28/11/2019 19:30

Mid 70s female - 3-4 hours if I'm lucky - wake up as tired as when I went to bed. Have arthritis and wake if a bit of my body is at the wrong angle. Try to have a snooze mid afternoon.

SwampOfDeath · 28/11/2019 19:30

45, female. 5-6 per night. I am a teacher and never start working until DC are asleep, so usually start planning / marking / work correspondence around 9pm, and hit the hay between midnight and 1am.
Wish I could get more sleep in term time.

rededucator · 28/11/2019 19:30

OP did you mean reasonable as in it might be too much or too little? I get about the same but often get told that it's a very good sleep. Female 34.

iklboo · 28/11/2019 19:30

Female, 50. Anything between 3.5 - 6.5 hours, broken. I'm a wreck!

sendcoffee · 28/11/2019 19:31

Female, 35 and I get anywhere between 4 and 8 hrs sleep a night.

But I have an early rising 4yr old and a 6mth old that doesn't sleep through.
DH takes them early in the morning if he knows it's been a bad night and I get longer sleep but it's always broken.

I've become used to this amount but I really need 7-8hrs to fully function.

Selfsettling3 · 28/11/2019 19:31

Not enough or more to the point I get poor quality sleep. My baby will only sleep in my arms and am awake frequently feeding.

XXXXXX42 · 28/11/2019 19:31

42 year old woman. I have CFS (and am a single mum, have a full time job and a dog). I work from home which helps with my fatigue. When I’m well I sleep 9 hrs a night. I’m not balancing my energy well at the moment so I’m sleeping 10 - 11hrs/night (more if I can get it!)

Oysterbabe · 28/11/2019 19:32

FML.

How much sleep do you get?
Oysterbabe · 28/11/2019 19:33

Female, 38, 2 small children.

marmitemayonnaise · 28/11/2019 19:33

Female, 30. Usually 8 hours.
Currently 4-5 Hmm (newborn)

SimonJT · 28/11/2019 19:34

Male, 31, average 5.3 hours on my fitbit, and that’s with sleeping tablets.

Brideof2020 · 28/11/2019 19:35

Female, 39 I aim to have 7 hours a night during the week. How undisturbed this is, depends on how often the kids (4 and 7) wake up. Sometimes I can sleep through other times I can be up 2 or 3 times during the night. Weekends I aim for about 8-9 hours, again above scenario applies. I need sleep to function and I don't think YABU.
