Sorry wasn't sure where else to post not quite an AIBU, but I could make it into one I suppose.

Just interested to know on average how much sleep you get every night? How old you are (if you want to disclose) and your sex (again if you want to disclose).

I will start I am a female, 26 and get on average 7.5 hours a night. Is this unreasonable in your opinion?

I’m a 28 year old woman and I get about 5 hours a night most nights. This is not enough at all.

I work evenings and have two early rising children. I’m recently separated from my husband.

When I get a night off I go to bed at 8/9pm and end up wide awake at 1am for a couple of hours Confused

Dontdisturbmenow · 28/11/2019 19:37

I get 7 1/2 hours, but that's because the quality of my sleep is so poor, most of it is light sleep, and I wake up about 6 to 8 times a night.

I'm female, early 50s. My colleague who is 45 gets about 5 hours, sometimes 6 hours, but she gets about 3 to 4 times more deep sleep than I do. Lucky her!

Ragwort · 28/11/2019 19:38

About 6 hours, I am 61, seems enough.

confusedandemployed · 28/11/2019 19:40

46 yr old female, between 7-8 hours a night. Occasionally much less, which is then followed by between 8-10 hours the next night.

AHorseCalledCroc · 28/11/2019 19:40

Between 7 and 8 hours on average according to my Fitbit. Generally in bed for about 9 hours in total (10-7) so the 7-8 hours takes account of all 'awake' time. Female, 33 with a 5 and 1 year old. Have always needed a good sleep and don't do late nights unless I'm 'out out'!

BertieBotts · 28/11/2019 19:41

31, female, I go to bed around 11pm and wake up around 8am, but I do have a toddler who still wakes during the night and often comes into our bed at about 2-3am and then sleeps horizontally. Hmm

That said I feel fine. I have a daytime nap maybe once or twice a week but some weeks not at all.

DH sleeps almost the same hours as me, gets up an hour earlier, is probably still a bit disturbed by the baby, but not as much as me (has no boobs).

Mummyme87 · 28/11/2019 19:41

6-7hrs very broken sleep. Maybe blocks of max 90mins, after 3.30am even more broken. I have a 22m sleep thief and a 5yr old who is awake at 6.30

raspberryk · 28/11/2019 19:46

At least 6 unless I can't get to sleep for some reason, usually more than 7, sometimes 8-10 on weekdays. Most weekends usually at least 10.
I'm female, 32.

PerfectionistProcrastinator · 28/11/2019 19:46

I always thought I had so much sleep. At least 8 hours. Since I got my Fitbit it seems my average is more like 6.5 hours. I am 36.

greenlobster · 28/11/2019 19:46

47, female. 3 - 4 hours in the week, around 7 at weekends. Also a lot of coffee.

churchandstate · 28/11/2019 19:46

7-8

Zzzz19 · 28/11/2019 19:46

6 hrs. Enough for me

Appletreehouse · 28/11/2019 19:48

After two babies, one of whom didn't sleep I worked out I need 7 hours to be well, 6 hours to function ok, 5 hours and I really struggle

NabooThatsWho · 28/11/2019 19:51

I’m 34. I’m asleep by 10 most nights and awake around 7, always feel knackered in the morning though as DD2 can be a restless sleeper and some nights I wake around 2am for a couple of hours.

I need to start meditating again! Helps me sleep deeply and feel more rested.

Sotiredsomuch · 28/11/2019 19:53

Female - I aim for 8 hours but still feel so so tired every morning.

Bentoforthehorde · 28/11/2019 19:54

Female 35, 2-6 broken hours a night.
Before I had children I didn't sleep much through choice. A decade into motherhood with 4 children who are terrible sleepers I may spend a few years sleeping 9pm-6am when they finally let me.
I'm so out of touch, what is a 'normal' or good amount of sleep?

PonderTweek · 28/11/2019 19:55

Female, 34. Around 6-7 hours, but massively interrupted due to fibromyalgia and toddler. I feel like ass most of the time and need so much more sleep than what I'm getting. Although a couple of times a month I get a lie in and sleep for around 10 hours and I almost feel worse. What's that about? Angry

Potterurotter · 28/11/2019 19:56

Female with cfs, 30, 8-10 hours needed

Cineraria · 28/11/2019 19:56

Female 44 with toddlers.

Weekdays, I go to bed about 1am and get up at 7am. If I have one short wake up that's fine. A few times recently, I have even slept without waking during that time and feel great. A long wake-up or several wake ups means it's often not enough. Weekends I go to bed about 1:30am and get up at 9am, so catch up a bit.

bluebella4 · 28/11/2019 19:57

Female 31, 7 hours of broken sleep. Not enough..

lilgreen · 28/11/2019 19:58

Female, 48, 8 hrs.

Slightlysurviving · 28/11/2019 20:00

Female 30's 2 young kids 3.5 to 5.5 hours. I am broken I need a minimum of 8. This is just a phase.

Foxes157 · 28/11/2019 20:02

Early 40s usually 6 5 hours per night. I Need more but with teens and a 7am start at work it never seems to happen.

ImFreeToDoWhatIWant · 28/11/2019 20:03

Female 44, 25 years insomnia, 3hrs on a bad night, 5.5-6.5 hrs on average, and only over 7hrs on very rare occasions.

Peoplearemiserable · 28/11/2019 20:04

Female 26, 8-9 hours per night. I love sleeping Grin
