How much sleep do you get?

Sorry wasn't sure where else to post not quite an AIBU, but I could make it into one I suppose.

Just interested to know on average how much sleep you get every night? How old you are (if you want to disclose) and your sex (again if you want to disclose).

I will start I am a female, 26 and get on average 7.5 hours a night. Is this unreasonable in your opinion?

Female 33 6-7 hours but that's not enough I know I need more like 9 hours

Gertie75 · 28/11/2019 20:06

Female 44, 9 hours on school days and 12 at the weekend.

I don't know how people get through the day with only 4-6 hours of sleep.

IAmNotAWitch · 28/11/2019 20:06

42 and at least 8 hours a night. More on weekends. I am asleep by 9pm and up at 5am.

Kids are older now.

Crookedsmile1 · 28/11/2019 20:08

That sounds amazing to me op! I used to sleep pretty much as my hobby, I loved it.
I have had two absolutely appalling sleepers , 4 years of broken sleep with my dc2 and my dc3 at 2 is still up at least twice a night. My sleep is completely ruined now. Even when my dh takes over for a night or my dcs sleep through by some miracle I still wake frequently and I hate it.
Sorry to derail but for those who are parents of bad sleepers, did your sleep improve once they started sleeping through? I actually get emotional thinking about how I used to go to bed and actually have lovely, deep sleeps. I need at least 8 hours and regularly only get 6 hours, often broken. Broken sleep is just the pits.... Sad

Beautiful3 · 28/11/2019 20:09

10 hours.

TwinMum89 · 28/11/2019 20:11

Female, 30, use to have 7-8 hours a night on average. Now a mummy to 4 month old twins and on a good night get 5-7 hours.

rumandbiscuits · 28/11/2019 20:12

@lljkk I do feel rested in the week (I get up at about 6.30am) but at the weekend when I get more of a lie in (8am) I am knackered and often have an afternoon nap. So sometimes I think more sleep can make you feel worse.

Female, 39.
Currently about 5 hours of broken sleep due to my baby.
Ordinarily I like, and usually manage, 7-8 hours. Really hoping ds is like dd who likes her sleep and has never been an early riser.

hushnowthanks · 28/11/2019 20:14

30ish female with kids and a stressful job. I CANNOT function without a minimum of 8 hours sleep. 10.30-6.30 is my usual pattern.

rumandbiscuits · 28/11/2019 20:16

@rededucator I think it's a good amount as well. As I am posting in the AIBU I just tried to make it into an AIBU post as I wasn't sure where else to ask 🙈
I am surprised at how little sleep others get though!

27 year old female. Usually I'm OK on 7, but my mental health hasn't been great so I have been sleeping for more like 8-9 hours. I can't catch up on sleep at weekends like my DH, my body doesn't work like that, so I have to be quite disciplined every night else I'm wiped out for a good week.

AlphaJura · 28/11/2019 20:17

My sleep app on my phone says I average about 5.30 hours. I used to need 7/8 and at the moment my youngest is 19 mths and sometimes still wakes at least once. But I've never really slept in a solid chunk since having the dcs. I used to make up for it by having a nap in the day but don't have time now. I rarely sleep more than 4hrs without waking up and then needing the toilet/drink/snack. Just used to it now!

donttellmetwice · 28/11/2019 20:18

Female 32 and I get 9-10 hours most nights

autumnnightsaredrawingin · 28/11/2019 20:18

Female, mid thirties. 6 hours during weekdays, maybe 8 on a weekend.

SureTry · 28/11/2019 20:19

Female, 41 about 3 hours broken sleep. I have DS2 who is a horrific sleeper, I also think I'm peri menopausal. I'm on my knees and not sure how long I can keep this up. 😩

Ylfa · 28/11/2019 20:22

48, female, average about 5 hours a night. I used to need about 6 but seem to be okay with less. I love sleep but I’m rubbish at it.

longhaulstress · 28/11/2019 20:23

Female, 36 average around 7.5 and feel mostly good

RoRosmama · 28/11/2019 20:28

34yr old Currently pregnant with 2nd and exhausted so average is 10.
Normally however it's 6.5/7 (toddler)

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 28/11/2019 20:29

@Oysterbabe what sort of fitbit do you have?

My sleep doesn't give a score and being competitive even with myself
I want one! Is there a setting to add or have you got a newer version??

Are you able to nap? Because that is seriously little sleep Shock

hazeyjane · 28/11/2019 20:29

Female
50
Between 4 and 6 hours
(Have a 9 year old with special needs - this is a vast improvement on the first 5 years when sleep was in very short supply)

oopsydaisy92 · 28/11/2019 20:33

Female, 27, average 8 hours a night. I can't function on less than 7!

Alez · 28/11/2019 20:34

Female 30 7-8h, usually closer to 7 during the week. I am grumpy if I get less. I almost never wake up later than 8 so if I have a late night on the weekend I can get a lot less. Wish I could sleep in.

NoParticularPattern · 28/11/2019 20:35

Female, 28, 3-5 hours a night in stretches of no more than 1.5 each.

snowone · 28/11/2019 20:35

Female 37. Between 6-8 hours but quite broken at the moment due to teething and poorly 8 month old DD.

rumandbiscuits · 28/11/2019 20:36

@Crookedsmile1 I have a 19 month old and this time last year would never have believed I would sleep through the night ever again!! She was a bad sleeper (took hours to settle and then would wake for boob through the night) when she was 15 months old I stopped breastfeeding and she started sleeping through she tends to sleep 7.30-7 now which I never thought would happen! My sleep has improved so much and so has my mood. However she currently isn't very well so the last three nights has had me up a lot and my sleep has gone back downhill (last night I had around 5.5 hours which isn't awful) but got me wondering about the average amount of sleep for other people... looks like I have nothing to moan about!
