agree with you, w&b, about Cobain and Marley and the superior talents of Grohl.

Actually, am having a hard time deciding whether Cobain or Marley has been more ridiculously and wrongly hyped since death....

well personaly i just find marley unbelievably over played. i suppose my dislike of his music is the fact that you are expected to like it, someone always puts it on when you are having a joint so it's cliche, i'm a middle class white boy from ireland so reggae really isn't my thing. i still like it and it doesn't piss me off i just find it to be good background music, not earth shattering by any means.and bar the reggae aspect i'd imagine thats largely why i find cobain a bit annoying as well.
they're more symbols now and people who don't know or listen to music will list them as greats because it's too easy. the same kind of people who would have scoffed at a cash album pre-phoenix but now know all the words to cocaine blues.
the best way i can describe it is that i know both are very talented and amazing musicians, but much like people who know ittle about football assume beckham is one of the best footballers in the world because he is the most famous, i get more annoyed at the plastic fans lauding them beyond their talents as it cheapens the achievments of their actual talents.
if that makes any sense.

Young Pete is a pratt, his father however ( also Pete Doherty) is a very kind genuine bloke. Feel sorry for him.

didn't manage to get back on last night, but just catching up and w&b it makes sense to me!

Rhubarb · 22/08/2007 11:13

I don't like Marley either, but I do like Cobain, I play his Unplugged CD all the time and dd loves him, she nicked my CD to play in her walkman, she's bloody obsessed! Forever asking what the lyrics mean. Completely shaggable he was too.

Ooooh, lovely blue eyes, fit body, yum! Anyway, what were we talking about?

Vulgar · 22/08/2007 11:16
