By 'greats' I was trying to cover as much diverse ground as poss , but they did only play 3 chords or something, obviously lost the rest in coke induced haze - Jimi hendrix there's a true great!, don't hear people slagging him off!

He's made some excellent reocrds (Libertines and Babyshambles - if you like that sort of music of course!) and on the occasions I've seen him live he has been amazing.

He has a serious drug problem, he's committed crimes.... yea maybe he's not a good person, maybe he's a complete knob...

But trashy newspapers and magazines are obsessed by him! I don't read the shite that's printed. So therefore, I don't get irritated by him. I enjoy the music and that's the end of it.

If he annoys you, don't read about him! Simple!

I don't think pete's the tortured genius he sometimes made out to be though.

am not overly impressed by his musical output (it's ok, that's all, though i have not seen him live) he just seems like a bit of a silly boy to me, and that's without reading of his antics in trashy mags etc

he is not comparable to Jimi by any stretch of the imagination...

i mean i understand people being fucked off with him if they hate everyone who has ever done drugs etc and don't listen to any musician who does drugs from the beatles to cash to elvis to the red hot chilli peppers.

or more simply if you hate him because you think his music is crap. that's fine.
but i notice a lot of people hate him and use the drugs and the tabloid crap as another stick to beat him with but have no problem listening to a beatles album.

although admittedly it is very annoying when you see someone who you think is shite getting loads of press and selling records (i.e. KEANE) as you can't really avoid seeing some of it. the same way despite not watching any of it you some how know what is happening in big brother through osmosis.

I wasn't reading about him Baffy- he's just always on the fecking news or the radio - you can't really avoid seeing or hearing about him

I get the Independent and I watch the news, so no I don't buy trashy mags to read about celebs. Unfortunately he just pops up.

Said on another thread - we were on a plane with him and his entourage last year. They all did really really smell. Stale booze, BO and covered up with cheap aftershave.

PD's friends (not him I must say) were very intimidating. One was kicking the seat of the man in front to provoke a fight and making lechy comments to the poor air hostess. We were all intimidated and very glad it was a short flight. How Kate Moss could voluntarily spend time with that crowd I dont know.

Just don't understand all the hype around him. Even if you can't avoid seeing or hearing about him, why let him irritate you... I don't get it

Even my mum knows who he is now... that's when you know the media has gone too far!

Maybe he's a good person. Maybe he's a knob.
Who knows....
I just think that from seeing him live (and from liking his music) that he does have some talent and is sadly f*cking up his life with drugs.

Where does he pop up Rhuby? (have you done the antimacassars yet? If so maybe next task would be to make sure your loo roll has a pointy end and that the dolly over the spare loo roll's frilly skirt isn't crushed or dusty)

I saw footage of PD at Glastonbury and there is one tune that is ok - no idea what it is called tbh
