Agree, if they are going to take drugs they can at least do it properly!

But seriously. Drink whilst stoned or pissed is simply not on. I knew a friend from college who had his girlfriend and baby daughter wiped out through a drunk driver.

Paris Hilton didn't seem to understand why she had to go to prison for drink driving. Lindsay Lohan crashes her car whilst stoned and she gets sent to rehab which she'll probably check out of in a couple of days. Pete D has been done for it, no prison for him yet! It makes a mockery of our legal system.

whiskeyandbeer · 21/08/2007 13:24

"I did drugs because I wanted to I wasn't trying to be like anyone else - just genuinely enjoyed it! "

exactly. when i was doing any sort of drug i didn't think it was cool because a rock star did it. i did them because i was probably hammered and they seemed like a great idea at the time.

similarly i don't see why famous people should be expected to be role models as they are probably the worst equipped people to be them.they have everything and more often than not it is because of some god given talent or their looks. this isn't a good aspiration for normal kids in the real world unless they are going to be celebrities themselves.

Rhubarb · 21/08/2007 13:26

drugs is becoming such a middle class thing to do now!

Wisteria · 21/08/2007 13:30

Had I gone on to be a great rock star - PMSL at thought - I would have probably been a complete junkie as money would have been no issue at all.

Most of my old circle who had an inclination to get hammered, twisted, mashed (pick word of choice) just either came to our senses/ ran out of money/ got scared when someone took it too far and stopped/ cut down etc. Had we been millionaires and tempted by the lifestyle every second then we probably wouldn't have ended up the sane and normal earth mother types that we are today -

cornsilk · 21/08/2007 13:32

But would you have worn a silly hat Wisteria?

Wisteria · 21/08/2007 13:34

was actually on a festival promo website a few years ago wearing a very silly hat

Rhubarb · 21/08/2007 13:34

Well, my dh and his friends all thought they were rock stars and did the whole drugs thing. My dh was the unlucky one. He later developed paranoid schizophrenia and had to take much worse drugs under prescription than the ones he'd chosen to take.

His "friends" abandoned him.

That's bad Rhubarb is he ok now?

Rhubarb · 21/08/2007 13:37

s'alright, I remember when it was just the working classes popping the pills. Then the mc's got in on the act and raised the stakes. There's only them who can afford Class A's these days without selling themselves. The rest of the population have to do with sniffing salt or washing powder.

Rhubarb · 21/08/2007 13:38

He's ok now thanks but the prescribed drugs did wreck his head and he says his personality has changed. I didn't know him well then so I don't know.

Wisteria · 21/08/2007 13:40

I had 1 friend out of many who developed mental health probs from drugs, but he was the one that took it too far. I know far more alcoholics now tbh, with far reaching health consequences and mental health issues.

whiskeyandbeer · 21/08/2007 13:42

few lads in my year ended up severely f'd in the head from drugs, dundrum mental hospital the lot. but it wouldn't stop me from taking them as i know my limit, don't over indulge and take them very seldom. same way knowing someone who ended up an alcoholic wouldn't stop me drinking.

Iklboo · 21/08/2007 13:42

Wandering slightly off thread but I've always thought PD looked like the secredt love child of Rodney Bewes (off of the Likely Lads)

whiskeyandbeer · 21/08/2007 13:43

might have something to do with his song
"what became of the likely lads"

fawkeoff · 21/08/2007 13:47

think everyone has the right to do whatever theey want to, but it pisses me off that they're shoved down our throat all the effin time.i dont buy sleb obsessed mags, i just turn on the fuckin telly and its in my face, i just go to buy a newspaper that i want to read about......and instead of having a real headline i get a druggie fsllin out of a car.

Iklboo · 21/08/2007 13:48

Ah.....it all becomes clear now! (I am not a PD or Libertines fan so probably wouldn't know a song if it lap-danced for me)

Wisteria · 21/08/2007 13:50

Fawkeoff- buy better papers

lucyellensmum · 21/08/2007 13:52

WHO?

oliveoil · 21/08/2007 13:55

er Rhubarb, I don't see what class has to do with anything

I could happily afford it and I am not a prostitute OR middle class

ScottishMummy · 21/08/2007 14:07

he is an inconsequential waste of space, column inches dedicated to a complete tosser

expatinscotland · 21/08/2007 14:08

He's a total loser.

lucyellensmum · 21/08/2007 14:09

thought so

CountessDracula · 21/08/2007 14:28

Actually Rhuby in the 20s it was all the posh cnuts who were taking drugs I think you'll find...

And I have no idea how old you are but 22 years ago when I were 18 it was everyone I knew pretty much, regardless of their background!
