I have to admit when I read about the death of Richard Huckle it was quite literally the best news I've heard for weeks. Im not usually a death penalty advocate but this genuinely feels like justice to me.

To be honest, wish they didn’t kill him. I certainly wanted him to die but he didn’t “deserve” it, it’s an easy way out. He no longer needs to live with his crimes because they killed him. His victims have to live with it though... They’ve essentially released him. Prefer the idea of him having to actually serve his sentence and pay for his actual crimes.

Prisoners didn’t feel that.... it was just any old excuse for them to gain a bit more Notoriety.... full Sutton Prison prisoners don’t have a moral compass you know!?

The person who did this is likely a sex offender himself!

Derbee · 15/10/2019 01:04

I had no feelings about it when I read the story. However, the more I think about it, the more pleased I am that he’s dead. He deserves it, and I do hope it was awful for him.

He’d inevitably have been released from prison, and children would be at risk. We also don’t have to pay to feed him etc now. On balance, the world is a slightly better place with him dead. I’d be happy for some more to follow him.

TottieandMarchpane · 15/10/2019 01:16

If this government would bring back hanging for weirdos, prisoners wouldn't feel they had to take matters into their own hands.

Bring back hanging for weirdos, you say?

LoveNote · 15/10/2019 01:23

Weirdos is an offensive term for people a bit different. Bring back hanging you say?

JamieVardysHavingAParty · 15/10/2019 01:32

They shouldn't be. Even the hardest of criminals that have murdered rivals in gang shootings and stabbings draw the line at child sexual abuse, rape and other associated sick and depraved crimes

They might draw the line at child abuse, but I heavily doubt that hard criminals have mumsnet-approved opinions on sexual violence, enthusiastic consent, and so on. If there was ever a golden age of honourable criminals, (and I'm very Hmm about that) it's not around today.

The criminals who engage in gang warfare, and kill rivals are involved in organised crime, and the world of organised crime isn't particularly chivalrous. They're involved in drug-dealing, and people trafficking, including sex-trafficking.

Just the drug dealing on its own sees vulnerable people, mainly women, forced into prostitution to feed their habits.

Tomselleckhaskindeyes · 15/10/2019 01:38

Jim gamble the previous director of CEOP stated on twitter that it was very bad news as there were still victims that had not been identified and any chance of this happening has now died with him. So no I’m not happy that he was killed as they may have been a slim chance he gave police the details of his hard drive.

FlamedToACrisp · 15/10/2019 02:03

Do you really think he had sex with babies because he was a bad man who decided to break the law? Paedophiles are SICK. They shouldn't even BE in prison - they should be in secure mental hospitals.

rededucator · 15/10/2019 02:50

Flamed If a pedo acts on their tendencies they have committed a crime so of course they should be in prison

EileenAlanna · 15/10/2019 04:23

The only reason there is for trying to find out who killed him is to give that person a fucking medal.

BusterGonad · 15/10/2019 04:39

There are so many liberals on this thread, I'm glad he's dead, no more money wasted on him.
It's a fact that the prison population do not like pedophiles even they have some decent values! I'm guessing the prison guards turn a blind eye and are not in danger themselves. I do not believe for one minute that a pedophile can be helped, someone that wants to have sex with 3 month old babies surly cannot be cured? Most don't even believe it's a problem, infact they see no harm in it. I doubt the guy who murdered him was a pedophile also, from what I've heard the pedo's stick together like shit.

DoctorAllcome · 15/10/2019 05:18

I don’t feel pleased when paedophiles are killed in prison. I feel conflicted. I think it’s a mental illness not a criminal choice tbh. I have watched a few documentaries done on the subject.

Women who kill their kids by drowning in bathtubs or overdosing them on pills are most often treated as mentally ill. We recognized that and are saving kids lives and helping mothers.

But with men and paedophilia, we seem to assume their brains are functioning fine and they are simply evil. We do know now that there are also a fair number of women who are paedophiles although they largely go uncaught. I’d like more research done tbh. I think a lot of misery can be prevented if we can figure out why they abuse children.

DoctorAllcome · 15/10/2019 05:25

They shouldn't even BE in prison - they should be in secure mental hospitals.

I tend to agree. They are most probably criminally insane and should be treated as such.

Fuckoffmice · 15/10/2019 05:31

Obviously I don’t condone murder in prison but he wasn’t a good guy. It’s hardly a loss 🙄

People get really emotive around these things and @EarringsandLipstick so what? I’m glad he’s dead. I never said I wish it happened more (maybe read what I put first?)

I don’t see how I’m the bad one for being glad there is one less scumbag on the planet. I’m not going all vigilante and I’ve already said it’s out of character.

Fuckoffmice · 15/10/2019 05:36

These people cannot be cured.

It’s one thing to be attracted to children (awful anyway but I get they can’t help it) but to act on those urges just makes you a fucking monster.

DoctorAllcome · 15/10/2019 05:53

these people cannot be cured

Can’t cure major depressive disorder, or post traumatic stress disorder, or psychosis, or paranoid schizophrenia or most mental illnesses in fact. Doesn’t mean it’s not a mental illness and the lack of a cure doesn’t mean it can’t be treated/managed so as to prevent harm to others.

NoCauseRebel · 15/10/2019 05:57

I think that it’s safe to assume that anyone who commits such hideous crimes is not mentally normal but I think there’s a difference between that and actual mental illness

And I think that once innocent individuals are in the picture you lose the right to compassion. And I say the same about women who murder their children. While in some instances there will be genuine mental illness in the picture, I think that all too often mental illness is used as a justification because it’s so hard to comprehend how someone can commit such hideous acts or how a mother could murder her children.

And interestingly if a man murders his children he is doing it to spite his ex. Even if he kills himself. But if a woman does it she must be mentally ill and deserving of compassion.

aurynne · 15/10/2019 06:02

I don't believe in God or the Devil, but in a case like this I hope I'm completely wrong and he is spending an eternity in Hell being submitted to every single act of depravity he ever imagined or performed on his innocent victims again and again.

Whatever you feel about the death of a convicted child rapist, bloodthirsty gloating is not a good look. Do you want to come across as a psycho yourself?

CardiFree · 15/10/2019 06:24

YANBU.

Fuckoffmice · 15/10/2019 06:31

This guy committed the most disgusting acts against children. Yet I’m somehow the arsehole for being glad he’s dead Hmm

Fuckoffmice · 15/10/2019 06:38

@DoctorAllcome - I view it as a sexual attraction rather than a mental health disorder. (Although I’m just a randomer on the internet).

I think there should be more research and help available before anyone acts on these desires but I don’t think this bloke (or sayIan Watkins for example) could be cured just managed. Not that they’d want to be.

Sallycinammonbangsthedruminthe · 15/10/2019 06:42

I don;t know what I feel about this.I did watch a documentary about him last night and I have never seen or heard the likes of it and do not wish to again.I threw up watching it.It was so distressing. My head couldnt even begin really to fathom out and process what I was hearing ....I never got to the end because I couldn;t bear it.To make a choice I suppose to live your life in that way to me seems beyond evil.I still can;t process....
