Do we fancy a full on civil war? Have we all gone completely mad? This is democracy? AIBU to say this is several steps too far?

I only hope that in the coming General Election the Tories are annihilated, which is what they absolutely deserve.
I agree but there is zero chance of it happening due to the combined effects of our electoral system and all the people who would vote for a nematode worm with a blue rosette (mostly in the South of England)

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 28/08/2019 14:56

Therefore, the Duke of Edinburgh will be sent out in his Range Rover to collect Boris from the train station

Very funny 😄

frumpety · 28/08/2019 14:59

It's been a strategic miscalculation by Cummings, as it will coalesce the anti no dealers in Parliament.

I don't think this is a miscalculation, I think this is very much a calculated manoeuvre. It will be fascinating ( in a morbid way ) to see what happens next.

Iggly · 28/08/2019 15:04

no nor can i, but its not as bad as ww2, and thats how we measure things now

The only ones doing that are those who voted Leave.

Tellmetruth4 · 28/08/2019 15:05

The Queen can’t do anything. The Daily Mail are blackmailing her with stories about Andrew. They have bigger revelations in their back pocket. They’re using their treatment of Harry and Meghan as an example of how easy it is to turn the public against someone.

The ultra capitalists need Brexit to happen at any cost including the end of the monarchy and UK. They’ve got her by the short and curlies.

justasking111 · 28/08/2019 15:06

Iggly what bull I did not vote leave

Whoseagooddoggiethen · 28/08/2019 15:06

Shes agreed. Fuck sake.

ContinuityError · 28/08/2019 15:07

frumpety depends how you look at it - Johnson is overriding "democracy" which plays against his "remainers are anti-democratic" spiel, it has certainly concentrated remain MPs' minds and is giving them something they can get cross party support against - even the moderate back bench Tories might be provoked enough to rebel against Johnson over this.

Jillyhilly · 28/08/2019 15:10

Of course she’s agreed. What did you think she would do? What Johnson has done is not unconstitutional and he’s within his rights to do it.

Biologyquestion · 28/08/2019 15:12

even the moderate back bench Tories might be provoked enough to rebel against Johnson over this

I sincerely hope it is more than “might”.
What is it going to take for these people to realise that it is not their careers or party which matter.

Iggly · 28/08/2019 15:14

??

I don’t understand.

My point is the ones using nonsense language such as we got through the blitz, we can get through Brexit - that’s Leave talk.

Biologyquestion · 28/08/2019 15:16

petition.parliament.uk/petitions/269157

Almost 340K signatures now.

billysboy · 28/08/2019 15:17

all the people moaning about how undemocratic this is ought to sit on the wall and have a chat with themselves
a democratic referendum was held , the majority voted to leave , parliament then voted to leave saying they would uphold the views of the referendum
They then bickered and argued and couldnt agree on the WA and are now surprised when this happens
Good luck to Boris

Biologyquestion · 28/08/2019 15:17

(Though it is of course a joke and will be ignored).

Biologyquestion · 28/08/2019 15:18

Nah you have a chat with yourself Billysboy.

And it is the DUP and ERG who scuppered the WA.

ContinuityError · 28/08/2019 15:19

I sincerely hope it is more than “might”

Me too. There's been a lot of talk previously and precious little action before though - hopefully this will be big enough boot up the arse to actually provoke a reaction.

billysboy · 28/08/2019 15:19

Quite happy with where I sit

winewolfhowls · 28/08/2019 15:20

Bbc news reporting Queen has agreed, as expected I suppose

Iggly · 28/08/2019 15:20

Sorry but you’re either delusional or forgetful. Who knows maybe both.

Do people realise that Ireland is a completely separate country within the EU? They damn well have the right to decide how their border is managed (and it is their border too by the way). We cannot unilaterally decide how that border is managed.

If we had a land border with, say, Iceland* and Iceland decided they were going to impose a border solution, I think we’d have something to say about it.

People truly are delusional.

*the country, not the shop.

Rhubarbisevil · 28/08/2019 15:22

I have signed the petition. Thank you for the link.

frumpety · 28/08/2019 15:23

ContinuityError depends what the end game is for Johnson and Cummings. Cummings must shake his head in wonder at people, he keeps saying jump and they simply say 'how high'.
The biggest problem about Brexit for both of them, isn't how to achieve it, its how to get away without being blamed for Brexit outcomes.

Alsohuman · 28/08/2019 15:24

This country is being run by two men nobody ever voted for - Dominic Cummings and Seamus Milne. It’s the worst thing I’ve seen in my 50 years of being politically aware. Today’s the day democracy was dealt a crippling wound.

Jillyhilly · 28/08/2019 15:26

Today’s the day democracy was dealt a crippling wound.

No, it really hasn’t.

ContinuityError · 28/08/2019 15:26

frumpety I think Johnson and Cummings are just using each other - Cummings to create chaos, Johnson to retain power. It just might implode on them both.

Alsohuman · 28/08/2019 15:27

@Jillyhilly, it has. HTH.
