Do we fancy a full on civil war? Have we all gone completely mad? This is democracy? AIBU to say this is several steps too far?

@Blazingatrail so when is the GE then?

Biologyquestion · 30/08/2019 21:21

Never for this long and at such an important juncture. It was known that MPs would vote to shorten the conference season, so the prorogation is in fact much longer than it is being made to seem.

chomalungma · 30/08/2019 21:25

you do know that parliament had been prorogued before don’t you? By none other than the hypocrite John Major to name a few

And you will know full well that MPs vote for conference recess and that they would not have voted this time for recess.

Unsurprisingly, most people don't believe Boris Johnson's reasons.

Great tweet about a 5 year old out protesting:

‘Mega star of today’s #StopTheCoup demo in #Chester
Me: Can you tell me why you are here?
Little person: Because Boris is trying to break parliament.
Me: Do you know what parliament is?
LP: It’s where we get our freedom.
Me: How old are you?
LP: Five.‘

Now the shoe is on the other foot remainers are crying wolf. Where were you when Bercow was overturning years of precedence to try and subvert the referendum result. I am from Ghana. I was there recently and I was speaking to some politicians who are watching what our parliament is doing and rubbing their hands in glee because most of them are corrupt but are pretending to play by the rules but now that they have witnessed the mother of all parliaments trying to circumnavigate years of laid-down rules they feel emboldened to do it too. People from the outside looking in think it is ridiculous what is happening in this country. Majority of people voted to leave. I didn’t but I am happy to allow the government to get in with it. Let it be, people, let it be.

Alsohuman · 31/08/2019 11:00

37% of the electorate voted to leave. That isn’t the majority of the people in this country.

whatshallIdo1 · 31/08/2019 11:01

Even worse than that, it was roughly a quarter of the entire population. After an illegal leave campaign. And on the back of that all of this is happening to us.

DateLoaf · 31/08/2019 14:48

Nobody voted to leave without a deal. That wasn’t what the question was. People who voted out knew they were voting out. No further thinking has yet been offered for voting on how leaving would happen. Which is the key question.
