Who REALLY separates their undies from towels in the wash Hmm am I and everyone I know grubby ?! I feel this is a waste of water, electricity, time and money!

(Video is Lynsey on This Morning telling us we should make sure our bras are clipped together and separate them from towels before we wash) I wanna know how she has the time.

Generally towels go in separately to clothes simply because they go on a different setting. But if I use a tea towel, wipe a spill, whatever, I’ll often just throw it in the machine and it’ll go round with whatever the next wash is.

happyhillock · 16/07/2019 21:48

All my knickers are a dark colour i put them in with the dark wash

ThighsRelief · 16/07/2019 21:56

GeneralMelchettsProject are you always this rude?

confusedjuly2019 · 16/07/2019 21:57

Life's too short (and don't want to waste water/electric)......all in together here (underwear, tea towels, colours, whites) at 40'C. Very, very occasionally do a separate towel wash.

MeganChips · 16/07/2019 22:05

These threads always remind me of 1950’s women judging the state of their neighbours front step. It’s a bit depressing really.

For the record, darks, lights, towels, bedding. Tea towels get chucked in the machine when they are dirty and washed with whatever is in the next load.

bramblepop · 16/07/2019 22:06

I've never even thought about it. Is this one of those things that people do partly because they enjoy feeling REALLY superior about it?

Wombleish · 16/07/2019 22:06

Hmm, maybe I should stop using my unwashed knickers to give the kitchen worktops a wipe before chucking them in the washing machine.

Wombleish · 16/07/2019 22:07

Or at least, not using the gusset side.

M3lon · 16/07/2019 22:07

I'm reading this and I realised I don't actually own any tea towels....I mean what are they for?

DanglyWhoreTassels · 16/07/2019 22:08

Womble no please don't stop doing that it turns me on!

DanglyWhoreTassels · 16/07/2019 22:10

M3 they are only meant for wiping up meaningless shit! Oh hello! Grin

Wombleish · 16/07/2019 22:12
VenusTiger · 16/07/2019 22:17

I’m thinking tea towels probably have way more nasty bacteria on them than underwear ?

DanglyWhoreTassels · 16/07/2019 22:17

M3 get yourself home!! We miss you!

M3lon · 16/07/2019 22:21

I do have an oven ....er what do you call something that has two lots for your hands but is joined in the middle? I want to say muff...but that might be all the knicker talk making me confused.

Anyway Its only repeated exposure to 200 degree plus temperatures that's keeping that thing sterile....

ImNotReallyAWaitress · 16/07/2019 22:24

Eww WTF!

It’s not hard to separate your laundry.
For a start, towels lose absorbency if you use fabric softener on them because it coats the fibres.

I do;
Whites
Light colours
Dark colours
Darks
Towels / tea towels
Bedding

Snowy111 · 16/07/2019 22:24

To those worried about bacteria - you are a walking bag of bacteria - there’s more bacterial cells in your body than human cells - get over it!

GeneralMelchettsProject · 16/07/2019 22:25

It’s definitely an oven muff M3. Definitely.

I tend to be, yes Thigh Hmm I take it wearing pants on your head is frowned upon?

Yeahnahmum · 16/07/2019 22:28

Yuck yuck yuck

DanglyWhoreTassels · 16/07/2019 22:30

Proj is it unhygienic to put your knickers in your hostage's mouth just to keep them quiet until you can replace with masking tape?

Halo1234 · 16/07/2019 22:31

I chuck tea towels in with normal bath towels. But tbh wouldnt care if knickers and tea towel mixed. I bet if u swabed both the tea towel would be dirtier so it's the knickers who should be offended.

GeneralMelchettsProject · 16/07/2019 22:34

I think it’s ok as long as you obey the three second rule Dangly

DanglyWhoreTassels · 16/07/2019 22:36

Halo I agree, and my knickers have confirmed they are offended just by talking about it!

ThighsRelief · 16/07/2019 22:41

I just make sure I wear the family pair of knickers first.

Douberry · 16/07/2019 22:43

Sorry but I find the idea of washing underwear and tea towels together totally grim Confused
