Who REALLY separates their undies from towels in the wash Hmm am I and everyone I know grubby ?! I feel this is a waste of water, electricity, time and money!

(Video is Lynsey on This Morning telling us we should make sure our bras are clipped together and separate them from towels before we wash) I wanna know how she has the time.

Surely you should just do a coloured wash (when you have a full load) and ditto whites? Anything else makes you a planet raping arsehole. Sorry.

It takes no more water or electricity to wash three separated out loads as it does three mixed loads! You loon.

And using phrases like that on a laundry thread is disgraceful.

I wash tea towels and towels together at 60. I do one wash of them a week and the machine is full.

I do a dark wash with dark clothes, black knickers and black bras when I have a machine full and wash them at 40. I do a white wash with light clothes, white knickers and bras, again at 40.

I do one wash a week of bedding at 60.

I would never ever wash underwear or any clothes for that matter with towels or tea towels. I know it's silly but I just think it is skanky.

My neighbour often has a line of washing which will have, say, 1 towel, 2 tea towels, a bra, some knickers, a couple of tops, some trousers, socks. A complete mixture of colours. I find it really strange and can't help wondering if it accounts for her towels looking so dingy. Most of my towels are 10 years old or older and look bright

RedPanda2 · 16/07/2019 20:41

I've never heard of separating them. Everything is washed together at 30 with non bio. I don't smell and I'm not dead so will continue to do so

Missangrypants · 16/07/2019 20:52

@mydogisthebest

Ha ha! Skanky is hanging knickers and bras on the washing line for all to see.

MadameRenard · 16/07/2019 20:55

I wash towels separately as I wash at 60 degrees and without fabric conditioner. Everything else gets washed at 40 with fabric conditioner.

Missangrypants · 16/07/2019 20:56

Separate loads for white and darks/coloureds only. Bath and tea towels get washed with everything else dependent on colour only. Mainly at 40 degrees. Only if mainly towels or bedding do I go a bit higher to 60 but not often.

Missangrypants · 16/07/2019 20:57

Never use fabric conditioner because of allergies.

Redpostbox · 16/07/2019 20:59

Nah. A few germs are good for you

FrenchSchnoodle · 16/07/2019 21:00

And this is why I have four washing machines. There's no transferring of anything.

Poetryinaction · 16/07/2019 21:04

What?
It's a washing machine. Have you seen how much water, soap, motion and heat they use? Your towels, underwear, whatever should be clean when it comes out.
If you are waiting around for a whole load of underwear, don't you have dirty underwear hanging around for a week? That's more gross. Or do you put on a load with just a few items which is madness?
I wash everything on 40 unless I want to give them a really good wash at 60. Washing machine on every day. Never any dirty clothes or towels hanging around for long.

Literally bonkers-ness of separating clothes based on proximity to a vulva, vagina, bum, whatever bodily parts or fluids you wish to be squeamish about. Like some throw back Victorian hysteria at the very existence of lady bits-and what they might do to the future of humanity. The horrors! P.S you have poo on the inside of you RIGHT NOW. 😂

LaurieMarlow · 16/07/2019 21:10

If I’d the time to worry about this kind of crap, I’d realise it was time to get a hobby.

Washing machines clean things. It’s their job. If they stop working, get a new one.

Ivy40 · 16/07/2019 21:11

@LaurieMarlow

😂😂😂

GeneralMelchettsProject · 16/07/2019 21:13

You could just cut out the middle man with these

I wash everything separately, towels, bedding, light clothing, dark clothing, coloured clothing.
Would never mix undies with tea towels...didn't think people did?

Wombleish · 16/07/2019 21:22
Hmm
ooooohbetty · 16/07/2019 21:24

@IncrediblySadToo

Are you always this rude? - yes

There’s nothing in my knickers that’s not in anyone else’s , but your knickers are up close & personal with your bits & bum so personally I don’t think they should be mingling with the tea towels used to wipe dishes that others use 🤷🏻‍♀️* - but when they are mingling they are being washed with hot water and detergent and this makes them clean. That's what washing machines do.*

Adoptthisdogornot · 16/07/2019 21:28

I NEVER laugh out loud at responses but BMW6, you got me Grin

Adoptthisdogornot · 16/07/2019 21:35

Honourable mention to Frenchschnoodle too Smile

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 16/07/2019 21:36

I don't even separate by colour.

buttertoasty · 16/07/2019 21:36

I knew this thread would be brilliant.

Aroundtheworldandback · 16/07/2019 21:38

Yuk!

Ijwlad · 16/07/2019 21:41

I wash everything together, knickers, kitchen towels, tea towels, flannels. The only thing that gets washed seperatly is my work clothes as they get filthy and they get put on a higher temperature on a Friday night.
