I havent even met these people, and the woman sounds like someone i have nothing in common with whatsoever. But never mind my general antisocialness. The house is a bloody absolute, consumate, bastarding pigsty and this woman is so houseproud she rang her DP at work once to bollock him for leaving his cup of tea outon the side when he went to work. IF he had told me sooner i would have spent less time putting the world to rights on here and actually got off my arse and done some cleaning. (i really am not very big on domesticity but i do like to at least make the place look like it is suitable for human habitation if we are to have visitors)Now something i was looking forward to doing with DP and DD tomorrow night has turned into something i am dreading and am already feeling uptight about. gggrrrrrrr bloody man well if he thinks...........oops, TMI we wont go there

why should you sort the house out?
get him to do it tomorrow

lucyellensmum · 27/07/2007 18:03

he is working tomorrow, but that is besides the point, i dont want to share my weekend with someone i dont know.

It's only Saturday night! Not the whole weekend!

oxocube · 27/07/2007 18:06

A bit inconsiderate. I would be a tad pissed off but only because I plan to be in my pyjamas, downing a bottle of white and watching Dance X with my kids tomorrow evening. But then, I am very sad

lucyellensmum · 27/07/2007 18:08

yes and he is working the whole weekend so would have been a nice time together and i don't do social. It takes me a long time to make friends, i dont do small talk and i lack confidence. I also do not want to have to entertain their bloody children. Hmmm, this isnt going to win me very many popularity stickers is it.

do you have to cook? Is that part of the stress? Or are they just round for drinks and chat?

the thing is iCod, i think you and i would get on!! No, i bloody well dont have to cook, he knows better than that. I wouldnt have minded if they were just coming over, it is the fact that they will be infiltrating my family evening that i had planned that irks me.

ooh seoo lun fillmhy

lucyellensmum · 27/07/2007 18:31

i think DP may notice the difference, im a size 18 (i'm blessed!). But if i want a new top, i'll buy it myself.

I am genuinely upset though, DP knows i battle in that sort of situation, i'm not very confident and cover this up by being brash and abrupt. With my friends i am relaxed and lovely, with new people i am standoffish and sulky. Even my best friend says he thought i was a stuck up bint when he first met me.

And although it would only take a few hours to clean, i do not see why i should spend my saturday spring cleaning just so people who i dont know can come to my house. If my friends were coming they would be happy to shift the piles of papers and clothes, they are used to it and wouldnt judge. Going by what DP has told me about this woman, she would judge and i really dont think we would get on. I'm sure she is very nice, just the antithesis of me!

so
How about putting on a brave face and trying to enjoy yourself

what is it about socialising that you don't like exactly?

ok ok
so
you are ASSUMING that she will judge you
that's not very fair is it?

I for one have a fairly tidy house but I have friends who live in total devastation and I couldn't give a toss if I have to go round and shift some papers to sit down!

Maybe you could give her a chance?

lucyellensmum · 27/07/2007 18:33

people!

OP posts:
lou33 · 27/07/2007 18:33

dont clean, if you are happy with hte house then leave it as is, if she cant cope she might leave early!

my house is always topsy turvy, i just let whoever in, say sorry about the house i am lazy, and leave it at that

noone really cares
