I havent even met these people, and the woman sounds like someone i have nothing in common with whatsoever. But never mind my general antisocialness. The house is a bloody absolute, consumate, bastarding pigsty and this woman is so houseproud she rang her DP at work once to bollock him for leaving his cup of tea outon the side when he went to work. IF he had told me sooner i would have spent less time putting the world to rights on here and actually got off my arse and done some cleaning. (i really am not very big on domesticity but i do like to at least make the place look like it is suitable for human habitation if we are to have visitors)Now something i was looking forward to doing with DP and DD tomorrow night has turned into something i am dreading and am already feeling uptight about. gggrrrrrrr bloody man well if he thinks...........oops, TMI we wont go there

Also
try NOT to be brash and abrupt

Try instead to be calm and friendly

as i said, im sure she is a nice person, DP has had spent some tim with her and what he tells me she seems nice, but i know she will judge by house, i am basing this on what DP has told me. i dont have very much self confidence at this moment in time (have had PND) and i dont need this.

but just because she lives in a sterile environmnet doesn't mean she expects everyone else to!

come on
no one is that weird

lucyellensmum · 27/07/2007 18:36

see, iCod, you have seen through me already. Um, your other half hasnt suggested an impromptu evening out watching fireworks has he?

tell dp that they can come but they can take you as they find you

Just do a superficial tidy
(get a bin bag and lob all papers and shite in it then chuck in cupboard and sort out later)

lou33 · 27/07/2007 18:36

maybe your dp is wrong?

honestly so what if she judges, as long as you are ok with it, why is it so important to care what she thinks?

everyone judges everyone
If i go to someone's house where all is freakily immaculate I think ooh weirdos for eg

who cares?

lou33 · 27/07/2007 18:37

oh bugger here

foxinsocks · 27/07/2007 18:37

you are so pessimistic, it can't possibly be as bad as you think it'll be

try and hold on to that thought

lucyellensmum · 27/07/2007 18:38

but the whole issue is, he should have bloody well asked me first. I might have mithered a bit, but i would have got off my arse earlier and cleaned up the house

OP posts:
CountessDracula · 27/07/2007 18:38

you could always suggest she has ocd

CountessDracula · 27/07/2007 18:38

ok I admit he should ahve given you more notice
maybe he assumed you were soing housework rather than on the internet talking to freaks like us all day

I reckon he didn't ask you because he knew you'd be pissed off

although I do have sympathy as my dh has a tendency to 'forget' to ask me then suddenly announce that so and so are coming round for dinner 'oh didn't you know'? grrrr

so yes, that is annoying.

i disagree
i like spontaneous things like that

I love it when people turn up uninvitied for eg then stay for dinner
