To eat nothing but crisps for a week? Would I die?

I bloody love crisps. I hate chocolate. Crisps are my Achilles heel.

Anyway, when I've over indulged in a particular food, I can't face them for a long time afterwards.
I didn't eat mince pies for 3 years once.
I still haven't looked a jelly baby in the eye since I was breast feeding ds2 and ate packets and packets of them.

I'm constantly sitting on my hands trying not to eat crisps.
For years I've been wondering whether I should just eat crisps and nothing else for a week and get over my blood obsession.

I can't eat 'as many as I want' as part of my normal diet because I would be eating way too many calories and I've got down to a good weight after having DS3.

Would I die from all the salt?

It's only a week so I think I wouldn't die from anything else.

I know it sounds ridiculous but it might just work...?

If you don't buy them you can't eat them? I really wouldn't recommend it exactly because of the salt intake let alone everything else. You could really cause yourself to be very I'll.

AnnieOH1 · 20/06/2019 14:39

*ill - stupid autocorrect!

CassianAndor · 20/06/2019 14:40

You'd end up very constipated is what I think.

gingerscot · 20/06/2019 14:40

Ah, the dream. But yeah, not healthy.
I have to go cold turkey with crisps. One small bag doesn’t work 😳

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 20/06/2019 14:41

The kids have them in their packed lunch.

I'm not going to begrudge them crisps just because I have crisps issues.

I already don't have sweets, juice or biscuits in the house (never crosses my mind and a waste of money) so crisps is one thing they have.
Don't get me wrong, I have great self control. I don't eat them all.

I just really REALLY want to.

The packet in front of me has 6% of my daily allowance of salt.

So I could eat 16 of those before I reached my salt limit intake.
So perhaps I wouldn't die.

I think, for science, you could risk it.
Drink loads of water and buy two boxes. Grin

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 20/06/2019 14:43

What about living on Snackajacks for a week? They are rice.

OP posts:
Sofasurfingsally · 20/06/2019 14:43

Stop giving them to your kids too? They really aren't healthy. After 3 weeks you'd forget all about them.

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 20/06/2019 14:43

50% crisps and 50% snackajacks and a shit load of water.

I think I'm gonna do it.

Halloumimuffin · 20/06/2019 14:44

Apparently potatoes are the closest you can get to a food you could solely live on. Crisps most definitely count. I think you'll be thirsty!

zonkin · 20/06/2019 14:44

You can go without food for 3 weeks on average. I can't see that eating crisps for a week (even taking account of the salt) will do any long term damage as long as you are hydrated.

Not sure you will feel that great though and it is an extreme approach. Mind you, feeling ill after a few days of crisps only might be the thing to put you off them.

Fatcatfat · 20/06/2019 14:44

I was addicted to crisps. Eventually I ended up very overweight with gall bladder problems and a fatty liver. I went cold turkey and gave up. After a while you don’t miss them, you are addicted to the additives and crap. If I taste one now it is like deep fried salty cardboard.

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 20/06/2019 14:44

No.
The kids are ridiculously healthy. As I said above, no juice no biscuits in the house.

They only have one packet in their packed lunches. They aren't poison. They just Aren't Great.

Chouetted · 20/06/2019 14:45

You won't die but you WILL get really really constipated.

cavalier · 20/06/2019 14:45

Constipation ... that’s what would happen I would think

HennyPennyHorror · 20/06/2019 14:45

It won't work. I LOVE crisps above all other junk and I have seriously overeaten them in the past.

I still love them. If you do try...please keep us posted. But Snackajacks are NOT crisps.

ShakeYourTailFeathers · 20/06/2019 14:45

I'm sure I recall seeing an article about a woman who ate only Monster Munch (she had serious food issues)

...she looked alright Grin

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 20/06/2019 14:45

IMind you, feeling ill after a few days of crisps only might be the thing to put you off them.*
This is exactly my thinking!

You could probably get away with eating any old shit for a week and your body would see you through a week. Although, if it all goes wrong, I think "For Science" would make a cool head stone memorial and hints at something more exciting than over indulging in crisps. Best of luck.

hellsbellsmelons · 20/06/2019 14:46

I used to live on crisps when I was younger.
Do what you want OP.
It's your body and you can do what you want with it.
Just keep the water intake up!

greenflamingo · 20/06/2019 14:47

I am very much up for you doing this so that I can live my dream vicariously. But please don’t die of a salt overdose. I just ate a massive pack of those walkers mix ups and I feel incredibly sick, I reckon you couldn’t tolerate more than two of those in a day.

TheQueef · 20/06/2019 14:48

Snack a shite excluded I think crisps are almost a good group.
If you die from crisps will your DP update the thread?

ComtesseDeSpair · 20/06/2019 14:48

I once ate nothing but porridge for a week, and I’m still very much here, if that helps.

Crisps - I think you’d get very thirsty from the salt, and also probably be bored of crisps by the end of the week. Maybe it would work as good aversion therapy. Give it a try.

TheQueef · 20/06/2019 14:48

*food not good.
