To eat nothing but crisps for a week? Would I die?

I bloody love crisps. I hate chocolate. Crisps are my Achilles heel.

Anyway, when I've over indulged in a particular food, I can't face them for a long time afterwards.
I didn't eat mince pies for 3 years once.
I still haven't looked a jelly baby in the eye since I was breast feeding ds2 and ate packets and packets of them.

I'm constantly sitting on my hands trying not to eat crisps.
For years I've been wondering whether I should just eat crisps and nothing else for a week and get over my blood obsession.

I can't eat 'as many as I want' as part of my normal diet because I would be eating way too many calories and I've got down to a good weight after having DS3.

Would I die from all the salt?

It's only a week so I think I wouldn't die from anything else.

I know it sounds ridiculous but it might just work...?

so interested in the outcome of this.

I can eat perfectly all day, then get in at 4pm and during the two hours between 4pm and 6pm I can eat 3 or 4 packets of crisps or sometimes more, while waiting for dinner to cook.

I put all the empty packets inside each other to hide the evidence!

I think I need to move my dinner time to 4pm to solve this problem, or wait to hear how Crisp Diet goes!

Agree you would start to drool over lettuce and apples by the end of the week 😂😂

sheshootssheimplores · 20/06/2019 15:24

I didn’t even realise crisps were that bad!!!! I often have a packet of Pom bears as part of lunch. They’re quite low on calories although I’ll admit I didn’t give much thought to the salt 😬

annabelle1992 · 20/06/2019 15:26

Word of warning though- I once did this with chocolate (and all chocolate containing products) when I was about 19, within 2 weeks was back on the chocolate again 😂😂

Mrsgandy · 20/06/2019 15:27

I reckon you will get fed up of them after a few days . Eat a few large packets before bed and if anything like me you will be up with severe heart burn and never eat again .
I can't eat twix bars again for this reason .

OkMaybeNot · 20/06/2019 15:27

It won't work.

Not like I speak from experience or anything. Ahem.

mylittlenugget · 20/06/2019 15:27

It's not even really the salt you need to watch out for - crisps have a lot of sugar that you wouldn't expect to be in there.
Also watching eagerly to find out what happens 🤭

Will you not end up with blisters all over your tongue and mouth? If I eat a tube if Pringles my lips and tongue feel all rough.

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 20/06/2019 15:30

I agree!!

ds3 was in hospital recently in London so DH wasn't near by and I lived on sausage rolls and crap from the bakery.
After day two I felt like shit and craves vegetables. I made a massive pot of vegetable soup when we got back and a shed load of fruit.

I also agree that I might not last the week. But I will push through because I want to get really and truly sick of them.

Yes but a week of loads of sugar and salt isn’t going to do anything to OPs health. It’s only a week!

LittleAndOften · 20/06/2019 15:35

It won't kill you. Not if someone can have salty McDonald's for breakfast, lunch and dinner and still be alive.

I don't like posh crisps, I think they all taste of oil. I'm hooked on salt and vinegar McCoy's and paprika pringles. I'm pregnant and if I don't watch myself can cane a whole pringles tube in a short space of time. Sadly I don't think overindulging will put me off - it'd probably make things worse!

I shall watch with interest.

PS how do you feel about prawn cocktail and smokey bacon?

Tsaminaminazangalewa · 20/06/2019 15:35

If you think it might help then I'd do it. I tried it with chocolate and I couldn't face it afterwards but it didn't last. After about a month I had fallen off the wagon but I'm glad I tried it on the basis that I enjoyed the experiment and because it helped me realise I'd need another method. Sadly I've not come across anything that's worked yet. Good luck on your mission

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 20/06/2019 15:41

But did you eat nothing but chocolate?

Crisps are my weakness, I ADORE them! Pickled onion and salt & vinegar are my absolute favourite although they make me visibly sweat, it’s so odd. My daughter loves those too.

I won’t turn down any though, I’ll even eat the ready salted that no one else wants in my house Grin

goodwinter · 20/06/2019 15:42

Let me know if it works 😬 I have the same problem!

annabelle1992 · 20/06/2019 15:43

Chocolate and chocolate containing products e.g. chocolate cake, chocolate mousse, chocolate milkshake.

MyDcAreMarvel · 20/06/2019 15:44

The kids are ridiculously healthy.
Not if they have crisps in their pack lunch they are not.
Am surprised the school allow it.

annabelle1992 · 20/06/2019 15:45

Had to be mainly chocolate to count!! I got seriously sick of it, craved cucumber, was then super healthy and virtuous for about 2 weeks and then guess what crept back into my life... CHOCOLATE 🍫

annabelle1992 · 20/06/2019 15:45

Though weirdly I actually lost weight on this week-long chocolate diet, a very unexpected side effect. Maybe I should advocate it more.

mindproject · 20/06/2019 15:47

Crisps aren't that bad. They're basically the same ingredients as a jacket potato with butter.

I think you should try it. I would guess your weight will stay about the same, you'll feel a bit thirsty and your blood pressure might go up a bit. At the end of the week you will probably like crisps a bit less, but it won't last.

Lexilooo · 20/06/2019 15:47

What about getting hypnotized so you think crisps are really gross? Paul McKenna used to do a CD I think........

LittleAndOften · 20/06/2019 15:52

Crisps are the MOST expensive way to buy potatoes. I often think about this.

Then I buy some more! 😂

OhMsBeliever · 20/06/2019 15:53

Mmmm, crisps. I love them too. This diet sounds like a dream, I'm not sure anything could put me off crisps.

pancaketits · 20/06/2019 15:55

All I can now think of is Chilli Heatwave Doritos. Thanks for that Grin
