To eat nothing but crisps for a week? Would I die?

I bloody love crisps. I hate chocolate. Crisps are my Achilles heel.

Anyway, when I've over indulged in a particular food, I can't face them for a long time afterwards.
I didn't eat mince pies for 3 years once.
I still haven't looked a jelly baby in the eye since I was breast feeding ds2 and ate packets and packets of them.

I'm constantly sitting on my hands trying not to eat crisps.
For years I've been wondering whether I should just eat crisps and nothing else for a week and get over my blood obsession.

I can't eat 'as many as I want' as part of my normal diet because I would be eating way too many calories and I've got down to a good weight after having DS3.

Would I die from all the salt?

It's only a week so I think I wouldn't die from anything else.

I know it sounds ridiculous but it might just work...?

Thing is with crisps there are so many flavours that you would need to have a strict flavour rotation to ensure you get adequately sick of all of them. Don't forget nick nacks... those nectar sticks still exist and need to be made sick of or they could scupper your plan...

HappyRoots · 20/06/2019 15:58

If you do this definitely do not waste the opportunity on Snackajacks. They are crisp imposters. Ooh, Monster Munch brought back the original monsters/flavours a while ago! Just saying....

My mate John dumped a girlfriend once because he says she was a crisp addict. He came home unexpectedly early and found her ripping into her third 6 pack of Squares. I thought that was a bit harsh personally.

annabelle1992 · 20/06/2019 16:00

Snackajacks definitely don't qualify as crisps. I resent them as they are what I force myself to eat when attempting to diet but they are NOT THE SAME.

Hmm a little harsh, who can resist the temptation of squares... 6 packs disappear so quickly these days

NannyRed · 20/06/2019 16:00

I feel your pain op. One packet is too many, twos not enough!
I don’t buy crisps because if I don’t have them in, I don’t eat them. Admittedly not so easy if you leave the house daily, but I definitely avoid the crisp aisles.

Butterfly98 · 20/06/2019 16:01

@DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou I love crisps too. My absolute favs are Walkers cheese & onion and their prawn cocktail flavour too. I so want crisps right now!!

Pearlfish · 20/06/2019 16:01

Crisps are my downfall too! I can resist chocolate, cheese etc but not those salty little fuckers.

Do it OP. Keep us posted.

SerenDippitty · 20/06/2019 16:01

I read about someone years ago who ate nothing but cheese and onion crisps, mashed potato and chocolate.

I rarely eat real crisps except for a real treat, I get these instead

They are surprisingly nice.

I vaguely remember some tv program where an overweight woman had only ever eaten chips her whole life and they were trying to wean her off them. An extreme way to live, but chips are good. I mean she was still alive, can't say she was in great condition but 1 week experiment won't make any difference 🍟

Adversecamber22 · 20/06/2019 16:06

Mum in law eats those crisps that you have to add a little of packet of salt to, the packet is in the crisp bag. Salt and shake by Smiths.

PinkOboe · 20/06/2019 16:07

i pretty much live of crisps. i seem healthy (so far)

ginghamtablecloths · 20/06/2019 16:07

I can understand you wanting to eat all those lovely crisps as they are my weakness too - but surely they'll cause dehydration/thirst due to the salt? There must be a better way of dealing with this.

PinkOboe · 20/06/2019 16:07

uh huh drink some water - job done, no more dehydration

Cherrysoup · 20/06/2019 16:08

YABVVVU to not have crisp sandwiches. I reckon I wouldn't get sick of that for a week!

hellsbellsmelons · 20/06/2019 16:08

Mmmmm..... Walkers Sensations - Thai Sweet Chilli
I could eat a tonne of them.

Inis · 20/06/2019 16:09

I ate nothing but salt and vinegar flavour Hula Hoops for an entire trimester and not only lived to tell the tale, but ended the pregnancy weighing less than I had at the beginning. I don't actually recommend this, mind you.

SerenDippitty · 20/06/2019 16:09

Also remember to clean your teeth often if you are going to do it OP, , crisps are the worst thing for them apparently.

hellsbellsmelons · 20/06/2019 16:13

Oh yeah!
I survived for 6 months on sugary tea and orange juice ice-lollies.
Didn't do me or my DD any harm.
Although she has an unhealthy amount of sugar in her tea and loves ice-lollies.
Weird!

MyShinyWhiteTeeth · 20/06/2019 16:14

An old housemate got through a large box every week - so 60 regular sized packets a week. She did eat other food (mostly chips) but that is 8 or 9 bags per day.

Her skin looked terrible, her hair looked in poor condition and she was slightly overweight and always being constipated.

She had a health scare and they said her salt consumption was too high. She saw a nutritionist and they suggested more exercise and a better diet.

She's now on a 36 box of crisps per week - which is 5 or 6 bags per day. She is more overweight, has problems with her blood pressure, breathing and sleeping. She takes iron tablets and vitamin drinks.

BobbinThreadbare123 · 20/06/2019 16:16

Now I want crisps.

I'm not sure this diet would be amazing for your teeth. Crisp gets stuck in teeth really badly; worse than sweets I'd say.

Nevertheless, stay hydrated and give it a go is a good motto!

annabelle1992 · 20/06/2019 16:17

Moral of the story- more crisps = better

Allhailthesun · 20/06/2019 16:17

I think it could work. Salt and vinegar used to be my favourite until I ate too many.
Not sure how many bags of each flavour before you get sick of them. I think you would have to push through and really overeat them though.

VeThings · 20/06/2019 16:19

This is an inspired idea. Although I’ve been having trouble (ahem) going and have just realised this is due to my recent 4 packs a day habit.

So you need something to help things move along, perhaps a crisp and prunes diet?

Savoury99 · 20/06/2019 16:21

Really wish I hadn't read this even though it is very funny. I'm dieting but could just eat a couple of bags, I love crisps

RuffleCrow · 20/06/2019 16:22

sounds like an eating disorder. You know as well as i do that you'd be sick. Rather than bingeing and avoidance contact an eating disorder charity for some professional support. Flowers

BlueMerchant · 20/06/2019 16:22

I loved crisps and when I stopped eating them I started craving chocolate (which I previously didn't really like beforehand)
