To eat nothing but crisps for a week? Would I die?

I bloody love crisps. I hate chocolate. Crisps are my Achilles heel.

Anyway, when I've over indulged in a particular food, I can't face them for a long time afterwards.
I didn't eat mince pies for 3 years once.
I still haven't looked a jelly baby in the eye since I was breast feeding ds2 and ate packets and packets of them.

I'm constantly sitting on my hands trying not to eat crisps.
For years I've been wondering whether I should just eat crisps and nothing else for a week and get over my blood obsession.

I can't eat 'as many as I want' as part of my normal diet because I would be eating way too many calories and I've got down to a good weight after having DS3.

Would I die from all the salt?

It's only a week so I think I wouldn't die from anything else.

I know it sounds ridiculous but it might just work...?

Shamelessly place marking

MrsGaryLightbody · 20/06/2019 15:07

Depends on flavour?
But you definitely got me eyeing up the cheesy puffs now Wink

Vilanelle · 20/06/2019 15:08

Thing is though, I could see myself getting sick of mince pies and jelly babies but with crisps there is so MUCH VARIATION!

How can you get sick of all types of crisps and flavours? I LOVE crisps. In fact I am tucking into my first packet (from a multipack_ of Bacon Sizzler McCoys as I type.

Someone did mention a fatty liver which concerns me as I too have a fatty liver so should probably quit eating them.

RocketPockets when I did the boot camp I swapped my love of crisps for crackling and pork scratchings.

I've never liked pork scratchings the way I used to before boot camp.

So perhaps this might just work!

"50% crisps and 50% snackajacks and a shit load of water."

No, to cure obsession this way, it would have to be just one flavour of crisps, all identical, say 15 packets
2 litres of water - no wine, no diet fizz or squash

You won't die in a week, don't worry

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 20/06/2019 15:11

I promise to keep you updated.

I thought this thread would put my off but nay. I am more fuelled then ever before.

@DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou

I'm seriously wanting to join you!!! I literally could have written this post!! Lived on Wine last week, still a bit gippy Hmm but willing to try the crisp diet for definite!!

Let me know if you manage it, I get 8000 calories a week, how many bags of crisps is that???? Grin Flamin Hot Cheetoes are 69 cals a bag so I could mix a few of those in I guess.

Hmmmmmmmmmm sounds so appealing Smile

ShinyRuby · 20/06/2019 15:12

Following with great interest! It sounds lovely, who knows what the reality will be? There's so much choice...are mini cheddar type things included? I don't think you'd gain weight. Can't see wine bring a problem either.

TheInvestigator · 20/06/2019 15:12

@Halloumimuffin
Can you point me in the direction of some evidence that you could live a healthy life is solely surviving on potatoes? You'd end up severely malnourished because they don't contain enough vitamins or essential amino acids or protein or fat.

Itssosunny · 20/06/2019 15:12

The kids are ridiculously healthy. As I said above, no juice no biscuits in the house.

What's wrong with juice or biscuits?

MrsGaryLightbody · 20/06/2019 15:13

Yum scratchings ! I am sure years ago there was a diet where you could eat shed loads ... love em !

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 20/06/2019 15:15

One flavour wouldn't work. I would have to do salt and vinegar, plain and cheese and onion otherwise it wouldn't work.

I need to hate them all because I love them all so.

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 20/06/2019 15:16

Itssosunny as I said further up, just that it never crosses my mind to buy them.

I never had them in the house growing up and neither did DH, so I guess it's just 'normal' for us not to. Seems daft to start something that isn't normal for us so we never have.

Flamin Hot Cheetoes drool

Only recently discovered these.

I think my favourite crisps are salt and vinegar squares though, or roast beef monster munch.

Can you provide us with a full diary of what crisps are eaten, how often you poop and how you generally feel?

Nemesia · 20/06/2019 15:17

If you eat 12 packets of salt and vinegar squares each day then you will entirely remove the skin inside your mouth.

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 20/06/2019 15:18

shinyruby I don't have cheddar issues. It's definitely just 'bog standard crisp' issues.

It doesn't even have to be walkers, and shitty crisp will do.

LadyBumclock · 20/06/2019 15:19

for science :o

You could eat a variety of different foods in crisp form, eg rice, potatoes, corn, wheat, lentils etc and of course vegetable crisps if you like them. Bung in a few low-salt or no-salt crisps, drink loads of water.

I don't think you'll feel bursting with health but I think you'll be OK.

I've heard the best all-round individual food for surviving on is chestnuts. Can you get chestnut crisps?

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 20/06/2019 15:19

This thread has made me LOL several times.

It won’t cause any problems at all. Give it a go. I reckon id be bored after about 8 hours. But I’d just add other foods in and keep the crisps 😭

cakeandchampagne · 20/06/2019 15:19

@Ounce ‘cake limit’
Smile

LadyBumclock · 20/06/2019 15:20

Also I think you'll get sick of the sight of them before a week is up. You'll be having drooly daydreams about cabbage and sardines etc..

LadyBumclock · 20/06/2019 15:23

I once ate almost all rice-based food for weeks - was abroad in a very remote place, was skint and there was nothing else.

I do eat rice now but it took me approx 12 years before I could face it again!

LellyMcKelly · 20/06/2019 15:23

If you stuck to one flavour wouldn’t it just put you off that flavour? Mind you, I can eat a tube of Salt and vinegar Pringles and say, “I’m never eating Pringles again”. Two weeks later I’m back on the salt and vinegar Pringles.

Oilyskinproblems · 20/06/2019 15:23

“I hate chocolate”

Yabvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvu

annabelle1992 · 20/06/2019 15:23

Lol 😂 well it wouldn't kill you but can't say it would be the most healthy option! You would have to rotate flavours, prawn cocktail for breakfast, salt and vinegar for lunch, bbq for dinner. Actually no one eats anything prawn-y for breakfast... is popcorn included in this experiment of yours? Could substitute pancakes 🥞
