To lie to everyone about this trip?

I'm not sure if I'm being unreasonable.

I'm at the end of my tether with various family things. I've just had a week of stressful exams and I'm at the point where I need some time alone.

I've booked myself a night in a Travelodge. I'm not even going to a different town just hiding from my family for 36 or so hours. I'm telling everyone it's for a course at work and I'll be miles away. I'm planning a pamper/relaxation session with some good food and a film to watch.

If I ever win euromillions I'm opening a sanctuary for frazzled MNers to do just this. I'm often tempted to do the same thing.

Childrenofthestones · 02/06/2019 20:22

No, not at all. Go for it.

Cryalot2 · 02/06/2019 20:22

Can I join you?
Seriously if you feel you need this and can afford it, then go ahead and enjoy.

BrainScience · 02/06/2019 20:23

Do it. Don’t even think about it.

fourandnomore · 02/06/2019 20:24

Sounds perfect, feel no guilt whatsoever. Make sure you think of what the course was on, in case anyone asks, unlikely as it may seem. If it’s great, you might need to attend part 2 later in the year Wink

Zampa · 02/06/2019 20:25

That's genius. I'm very tempted to invent my own course.

Greenvalleymama · 02/06/2019 20:26

When my kids were tiny and I was breastfeeding through the night I used to dream of doing that so often! Do it and don't you dare feel guilty!!

ZeroFuchsGiven · 02/06/2019 20:27

I think if You are in a relationship its a terrible idea, although it sounds like you need it, Can you not just be honest?

If my dp did this and I found out my mind would honestly jump to the conclusion he was up to no good, otherwise why lie?

If you are single though just ignore me.

tor8181 · 02/06/2019 20:28

i would love to/need to do that but even though i have a partner and boys are 8 and 14 carer responsibilities at home means its not possible

MrsExpo · 02/06/2019 20:28

I went on that same course some years ago (when married to DH the first!!). I think it’s at least a four part thing isn’t it? Smile .

Enjoy some guilt free down time.

Noonooyou · 02/06/2019 20:28

I don't see anything wrong with this if money allows, I just don't understand why you can't just say you really need some space and then you don't need to lie?

TipseyTorvey · 02/06/2019 20:28

Take sleeping pills just in case you don't sleep because you're in a new place. Aside from that, you're a bloody genius wish I could come. I am exhausted. Enjoy every silent minute.

ForalltheSaints · 02/06/2019 20:29

Are you contactable should anything go wrong (accident as an example)?

Xyzzzzz · 02/06/2019 20:30

Go for it

Butterymuffin · 02/06/2019 20:30

Nothing at all unreasonable, except that I'd have gone for a Premier Inn or a Holiday Inn Express. Do that next time.

fourandnomore · 02/06/2019 20:31

To be honest I was assuming you were single. If I was in a relationship or had kids I’d tell my partner just for safety/in case of unnecessary hurt or jumping to wrong conclusions.

sanmiguel · 02/06/2019 20:32

Do you mean family as in parents/ siblings or partner/kids?

user1474894224 · 02/06/2019 20:33

Not unreasonable to need space. But yes unreasonable to lie to a partner.

pineapplebryanbrown · 02/06/2019 20:33

I completely understand, I would very much like to have a secret bunker in my garden.

Iklboo you absolute star! Please can I pre-book a night? Smile

MiddleClassProblem · 02/06/2019 20:35

Depends who you mean by “family”

FullOfJellyBeans · 02/06/2019 20:35

That sounds amazing. iklboo I'll be the first in line to your sanctuary.

iklboo · 02/06/2019 20:35

Kenny - you're on the guest list Grin

Sparklesocks · 02/06/2019 20:38

Do what you need to do!

100percentplease · 02/06/2019 20:39

Hell no! Can I come?!
