Have come away for a little weekend away and completely forgot to pack my pyjamas, have remembered to pack everything else for everyone else. Its bloomin freezing, aibu to nip to a supermarket to buy some more even though I have plenty at home and really don't need another pair?

What important thing have you forgotten to pack when going away?

Underwear. Left the entire bag behind.

JacquesHammer · 04/05/2019 17:48

I forgot to pack my then husband’s boxers. He had one pair and we had to scour a small market town trying to find some.

Poor chap Grin

dreichuplands · 04/05/2019 17:48

I regularly forget someone's pants, I once forgot DH's trousers. My family do their own packing, it's for the best.

SnuffleBadger · 04/05/2019 17:49

10 night holiday to Mexico and I only packed one pair of knickers!

WorraLiberty · 04/05/2019 17:49

Not me but something I read in the Reader's Digest years ago.

A couple took their windbreaker out of the loft and popped it straight into the car boot.

As they unrolled it on the beach, their Christmas tree fell out! Grin

Fair play to them though. Apparently they stuck it in the sand and hung their wet costumes on it!

VictoriaBun · 04/05/2019 17:51

Went on a walking holiday - no walking boots !

dartitus · 04/05/2019 17:51

Packed one bag for me and one for my partner to go to center parks which was a 200 mile drive. Got to center parks and forgot my bag - nearest shop was a Sainsbury’s supermarket and that was still 25 miles away. I was fuming.

I packed everything for all of us except DH t-shirts. Told him to put his favs in, when we got to the hotel he had 2 for a 2 week stay!! He bought some new ones and we did a wash!

JellyBabiesSaveLives · 04/05/2019 17:56

Had two large blue holdalls. Left one behind ... But both dh and I were convinced we could remember putting it in the car and then unpacking it at the holiday cottage, we spent ages hunting before we accepted that we hadn’t got it with us. It had most of my clothes and most of ds1s too. He shared clothes with ds2 for the week. I had to go shopping.

Also, went away with SIL and BIL once. 3 kids in nappies between us. None of us had packed any.

EnglishRose13 · 04/05/2019 17:57

I forgot my hair straighteners and remembered on the way to the airport.

I wouldn't have cared but I was getting married so needed to be able to do my hair!

stucknoue · 04/05/2019 17:57

Socks more than once, thank goodness they sell them in supermarkets.

MsVestibule · 04/05/2019 17:58

Pants. It's always pants.

Nquartz · 04/05/2019 18:00

DH's socks, I reassured him I'd packed them, I hadn't Blush

It was 11 years ago & he still reminds me. He did last week!

TotheletterofthelawTHELETTER · 04/05/2019 18:01

Years ago we got to Crete to find my Dad had packed all his work t-shirts - grey and branded with his company and his name on - but no actual t-shirts. 😂

Doje · 04/05/2019 18:01

I forgot DS's shoes! We started the journey in the evening, so DC went in the car in PJs. Got to our destination and realised I'd not packed them. 🙈

Thank goodness for supermarkets. I sent DH out first thing.

Garcia10 · 04/05/2019 18:01

Forget to put the cases in the car. I thought my husband had, he thought I had. It was Christmas Eve and we discovered when we arrived at our hotel after a nearly 2 hour drive. Had to drive back home to get them.

It’s an amusing story now but wasn’t on the day!

Willowkoko · 04/05/2019 18:03

Didn’t pack any nappies Blush for a two week holiday in a very rural area of Germany, all I had were the few nappies in my handbag. Turned out to be a very expensive mistake as the local shop was very expensive and DD had a runny tummy for a week!

SCST01 · 04/05/2019 18:03

A couple that spring to mind - we were driving 3 hours away for our wedding anniversary and realised an hour after setting off that I had not put my suit carrier with my carefully chosen outfit for our big night out in the car. Lovely DH turned back for it.

On holiday with our then toddler DS. Drive over an hour to an attraction and DS had a bit of a poonami. No spare trousers with us. We stayed at the attraction playground while DH drove to buy some, but he had DS's shoes. So DS happily played in his vest and top while I cringed at my poor parenting. DH reappears AGES later, having had to try various villages and brandishing the widest pair of flared corduroy trousers seen since 1977 that he'd purchased from a charity shop. It then transpired that DH did not in fact have DS's shoes. Massive bag packing fail.

Lastly, at a family wedding we stayed over, but DH forgot a spare top and had to attend breakfast in his dress shirt.

Purpleartichoke · 04/05/2019 18:03

One separate occasions

Birth control pills (thankfully was able
To get those shipped)

Bras - and I don’t wear a size that can be purchased in a store, nor can I go without.

EleanorLavish · 04/05/2019 18:04

My DH forgot my suitcase for a 2 week holiday. He insisted he had put it through and it was lost by the airline. When we got home there it was on the landing...

Ces6 · 04/05/2019 18:06

Worst ones were forgetting all of one child's clothes (have 3 children!) and forgetting my passport. Dh also once left all his underwear in a hotel.

Toooldtobearsed2 · 04/05/2019 18:07

Happened to us just the other day.

We have a holiday place, 2.5 hrs drive away that we escape to whenever possible.

I got a new car. "Lets go down in my new car" I say. So me, DH, 2 labradors and a car full of essential shite drive down there.

Unfortuneately, neither of us had considered keys to said holiday home, which had most certainly not been transferred to my new car keyring.....

The new car got a good testing 😁 8hrs driving time later, we relaxed with g&t's and blamed each other

Rubiconjones · 04/05/2019 18:08

I once forgot my purse, meaning I had no money, bank cards or ID. Haven't lived that one down!

Arpafeelie · 04/05/2019 18:08

DS was obsessed with Thomas the Tank Engine. He had a Thomas jumper which he loved. I told him he couldn't wear the jumper the day before our holiday because I wanted it kept clean. He dressed his teddy in it and managed to get it muddy. So I told him we couldn't take it. Cue tantrum. Got on holiday and discovered that after I'd packed his bag, he'd emptied it and hidden all the clothes that were in it and he'd replaced them with the muddy Thomas jumper..

He had no pants, no PJs, nothing but the clothes he was wearing and a muddy Thomas jumper.

AlunWynsKnee · 04/05/2019 18:10

Self catering place that specified you had to bring your own bedding. I knew this. I forgot this. We didn't take any bedding. Blush
