Have come away for a little weekend away and completely forgot to pack my pyjamas, have remembered to pack everything else for everyone else. Its bloomin freezing, aibu to nip to a supermarket to buy some more even though I have plenty at home and really don't need another pair?

What important thing have you forgotten to pack when going away?

Wow, the worst that I've ever forgotten was leaving all my make-up and skincare stuff behind.

I managed to buy new supplies of the basics as was in the UK and not miles from anywhere, and that lives on the motorhome now, so I don't need to worry about forgetting it again.

DP frequently packs insufficient t-shirts/socks/pants. He seems to be incapable of counting the number of days on a calendar worrying, for a payroll manager). Almost any trip seems to involve stopping at a big supermarket to buy the bloody things, or finding a town big enough to have an M&S.

AnnaBegins · 04/05/2019 18:12

My entire weekend bag. Both DH and I thought we'd put it in the car. We were going for a posh Christmas meal so I had to nip to the nearest town which only had an MKone and a hippy clothes shop...

My graduation, I packed all the right clothes for the day and the posh evening dinner, but nothing for the next day - had to wear my smart skirt with my pj vest top and hope for the best as we all went out for breakfast and lunch.

BathTangle · 04/05/2019 18:12

I left all my underwear in the drawer when I left moved out of my flat share the day before my wedding! Thank goodness my flatmates were coming to the wedding, so they arrived all togged up in their best with my underwear in Sainsburys bags!

eurochick · 04/05/2019 18:14

I have about 27 toothbrushes because I always for get to pack one and have to buy one at the airport or my destination.

Longdistance · 04/05/2019 18:15

I used to fly for a living and I forgot my pyjamas lots on trips. Weirdly I slept a lot due to shifts, but pyjamas were nearly always forgotten 🙄

sueelleker · 04/05/2019 18:17

Going on the Norfolk Broads, we drove to the boatyard and left the car locked in their garage. My husband realised he'd left all his briefs in his suitcase in the car. We tried to contact them, but no answer. Had to buy 14 pairs new.

GilmoreMe · 04/05/2019 18:21

I forgot the bag with all the shoes in so we only had what we were wearing.
The kids and I were fine, we had sandals on but DH only had his driving shoes Grin

CuckooSings · 04/05/2019 18:26

Everything Grin took dd then aged 1.5 on a 5 hr drive to see my Granny. Plan was to camp at a site near her as at that point she was 90 and couldn't cope with toddlers for long. DH and i had a conversation about packing - i thought we'd agreed i would pack tent + sleeping pods, he would pack the rest. Only we got there (we'd set off at night to do the drive while dd slept) to discover all we had was the tent + sleeping pods! DH thought i'd offered to pack everything. We ate at my grans and begged/borrowed camping stuff from the lovely site owner and the bemused couple on the pitch next to us who clearly thought we were incapable. Found basic clothes and nappies in a supermarket. DH and i write a list now!!

hellswelshy · 04/05/2019 18:28

Oh so many times! We've forgotten towels and had to dry with a tea towel. Even after searching lots of shops (we were in a remote part of Wales), we eventually found one that sold beach towels..we shared 2 between 4 of us as they were quite pricey.

Forgot a hairbrush once, so had to comb mine and dd's hair with a fork. Grin

Dh often forgets pyjamas which makes him sad as he then has no lounging about outfit!

stuffedpeppers · 04/05/2019 18:28

12 pairs of undies and a fleece and no shorts, skirts or t shirts!!!

Lots of clothes for the kids!

Portugal July weather

Alsonification · 04/05/2019 18:30

The first year I allowed dd to pack her own suitcase she forgot knickers. We couldn’t find any kids knickers anywhere so she wore ladies knickers for the week. Didn’t kill her. Lol.

tanpestryfirescreen · 04/05/2019 18:32

Credit card and passport.

All you need. I spend 200 nights a year away.

JasperRising · 04/05/2019 18:33

Underwear and socks. In a country where it is all markets and small stalls for shopping not supermarkets - spent the first morning locating the markets used by locals for their day to day needs NOT the tourist market full of craft products which is the one that gets listed on trip advisor and in guide books.

celebrityskin · 04/05/2019 18:33

First trip away from breastfed 5 month old. Feeling emotional/guilty already. Go to pump in airport room and realise had left breast pump attachment at home. Looked like Katie Price by the time we arrived in New York, leaking and very uncomfortable and could track down the part.

Week away in remote cottage. Meticulously pack for me and baby and all the baby accessories you need. Leave DP to pack car.... yep, that's right, we get there with everything sans my bag and have only the clothes I am stood in. Was a cold miserable week even with what we could buy from the closest(miles away) Sainsbury's hypermarket.

DelurkingAJ · 04/05/2019 18:34

All my tops on a week working away. Realised when I got dressed on Monday morning. Wore my not very smart T-shirt I’d travelled in that day (suit jacket on all day, sweltered) and went shopping that evening.

LizB62A · 04/05/2019 18:35

Went to the US for a few days to visit an elderly relative
Left all my tops hanging up in my bedroom and completely forgot to pack them.
Had to go shopping (that's not a good thing for me, I hate shopping at the best of times and shopping at Thanksgiving was a pain in the neck !)

troppibambini · 04/05/2019 18:36

I forgot my makeup bag, it might sound like nothing but I'm a makeup junky.
I tried to be grown up about it and not be bothered but I really really was especially at night.
Day three I went to a chemist and found a bronzer, foundation, mascara and lipstick.
I was in turkey and when I explained (with lots of hand signals) what had happened three lovely ladies in the chemist went to work finding me colours that would suit me, they were horrified for me and very sweet.

DonFatale · 04/05/2019 18:36

By far the worst was not packing any Calpol when we went on holiday to Spain. Dd2 picked up a nasty ear infection on the second day and flatly refused to have any of the Spanish version. She was crying with pain, it was awful. Always packed loads of Calpol after that.

IndigoHexagon · 04/05/2019 18:37

We (dh, 2 boys) went away for Christmas one year. While I was out running last minute errands, dh offered to do the packing. I told him that all the stuff we needed to pack was laid out on the bed and a few things were in the tumble drier. When I got home, he’d finished packing and immediately loaded up the car.
Drove the incredibly long journey from Anglesey to South Kent, and once the boys were in settled in front of the TV to distract them from our stealth unloading of Xmas presents, we started to unpack the car. My weirdo Mark had decided that instead of packing the neatly folded clothes into the hold-all or suitcase we’d normally, he’d throw them all in to a huge bass drum case. He’d hidden Xmas presents in there too.
So I’m unpacking and had got 3/4 of the way to the bottom of the huge case when I realised I’d not unpacked a single thing of mine. Not so much as pair of knickers. I checked around and there was no other obvious bag of clothes.
Yep - he’d not packed anything of mine at all! He ‘thought’ I would have wanted to it myself his excuse! No explanation for why I he hadn’t noticed when he packed the car that if given him no extra bag!
We were away for the whole week over Xmas and it was too late to shop that evening but the next day I made him take me to the nearest shopping centre to buy enough to get me through the holiday! Luckily there was a washer/dryer in our cottage, so didn’t need too much.

janeybumtum · 04/05/2019 18:37

I went somewhere cold where I needed to wear smart dresses and skirts and forgot to bring any tights. My legs are covered in awful rashes so couldn't go without. Luckily someone took pity on me and gave me a pair so I wore them over and over again, hanging them on the heated towel rail to dry

I often forget converter plugs, well not forget, but can never find them to pack them despite having to buy a new one every single holiday

My dad usually forgets keys and tickets

countrygirl99 · 04/05/2019 18:37

Went to a wedding in North East France. OH had forgotten his smart shoes so 2 hours before the wedding we had to dash into a shoe shop to buy some. Apparently French men have small feet and the shop only had 1 pair in size 11. Luckily they were the right colour

Unicornshopkeeper · 04/05/2019 18:38

Not forgotten but I once washed, ironed and packed clothes for exH, DS1and I. Enough for a week plus in France. I also put in a box of formula which burst, covering everything in sticky powder. I had to rewash everything at the start of our holiday

StabbyBitch · 04/05/2019 18:39

The first two days of holiday! Thought we were going on Monday, woke bolt up right at 3.00am Monday saying shit we were meant to be there on Saturday Shock I was furious with myself and spent the whole time crying while getting ready & travelling Grin

Millie2013 · 04/05/2019 18:41

OH once forgot his contact lenses and couldn’t see where he was skiing for a week

(The same holiday where he’d booked it and got his own name wrong)

fizzybubblepop · 04/05/2019 18:42

I put both DD and DS shoes into a hold-all for a week away and left it behind. We drove overnight so both had gone into the car in PJs. We managed for the first few days without any as they went straight from the caravan to the car and onto the beach for the day. It was only when we wanted to go out for a meal that I had to go to the nearest supermarket to get them both some!
