... not only that, he’s threatening treason charges on those who investigated him.

Is it me, or is Pelosi’s statement not worth the paper it's written on?

lionheart · 29/05/2019 20:00

Sen. Booker: "Robert Mueller’s statement makes it clear: Congress has a legal and moral obligation to begin impeachment proceedings immediately."

Kamala Harris

3h3 hours ago

'What Robert Mueller basically did was return an impeachment referral. Now it is up to Congress to hold this president accountable.

We need to start impeachment proceedings. It's our constitutional obligation.'

PerkingFaintly · 29/05/2019 20:02

About 3:40, that Morning Joe video refers to a recent Town Hall where the speaker explained what obstruction meant.

And woman in the Town Hall audience said she'd never heard anything about obstruction before, or what was in the Mueller Report.

Seems like the media she listens to (if any) has been rather coy about the details.

PerkingFaintly · 29/05/2019 20:15

Agree, no real meat in Pelosi's statement.

Randy is my hero. That's brilliant.

TheNorthWestPawsage · 29/05/2019 22:02

Yep.

Watch Giuliani and then Trump start attacking Mueller for his May 29 statement. The early effort to make it seem like more Barr-esque exoneration will soon give way to anger, then panic. Watch this space. 😱

For the record, BBC on Mueller statement, including vid of some of it:

Robert Mueller: Charging Trump was not an option
www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-48450534

He reiterated that his report did not exonerate the president and that legal guidelines prevent the indictment of a sitting president.

Mr Mueller did not rule out testifying in Congress but said he would not give information that was not in his report.

TheClaws · 30/05/2019 02:19

This is disgusting.

NEW: The White House wanted the USS John McCain “out of sight” for Trump’s visit to Japan. A tarp was hung over the ship’s name ahead of the trip, and sailors—who wear caps bearing the ship’s name—were given the day off for Trump’s visit.

As for Mueller’s statement, I found it to be quite clear. The US Constitution barred Trump from being charged with a crime as long as he was a sitting President. This does not mean he is exonerated; far from it. Congress alone can impeach the President and Mueller’s report gives them the roadmap and information to do so.

Mueller concluded his remarks with the statement that Russia conclusively impeded the 2016 US election: : “I will close by reiterating the central allegation of our indictments — that there were multiple, systematic efforts to interfere in our election.”

I was not informed about anything having to do with the Navy Ship USS John S. McCain during my recent visit to Japan. Nevertheless, @FLOTUS and I loved being with our great Military Men and Women - what a spectacular job they do!

Whether old Bone-Spurs Trump knew about USS John McCain or not - whoever ordered the name to be covered should be dismissed. As Claws says - “disgusting”

'White House Wanted USS John McCain ‘Out of Sight’ During Trump Japan Visit

U.S. military officials worked to ensure President Trump wouldn’t see the warship that bears the name of the late senator, a frequent target of the president’s ire.'

lionheart · 30/05/2019 08:39

It says so much about the culture at the current WH and the mindset of whoever thought this was a good idea.

Anniegetyourgun · 30/05/2019 09:37

Hmm... I could suggest a good reason why the ship's name was covered up. It could be the hosts' feelings rather than the President's they intended to spare. He is, after all, visiting a foreign country and it's hard enough already to keep him on the diplomatic path. If he saw the ship he'd be likely to break off in the middle of whatever polite visiting speech he was supposed to deliver and go off on a rant instead about a dead guy he didn't like. This would be incredibly insulting. They might even have liked McCain and wanted to avoid triggering yet another slur on his memory.

Or, you know, maybe they're assholes too.

lionheart · 30/05/2019 09:52

I think that is one of the reasons he needs to bring his entire clan with him when he visits. Trump wranglers.

lionheart · 30/05/2019 10:07

A different way to interpret Mueller:

www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2019/05/29/it-is-increasingly-clear-that-none-you-read-my-report/?utm_term=.202a4836f124

'Someone spoke to me at length about how they loved the report and the green things that were cut out and the red things and the yellow things, and it slowly dawned on me that he had mixed up my report and “The Very Hungry Caterpillar.”'

Grin
Roussette · 30/05/2019 10:25

Maybe he didn't know about the covering up of the McCain warship, that is quite likely. But his staff will know how he reacts to stuff and were probably trying to avert a tantrum. Either way he is not Commander in Chief, he is Toddler in Chief. This is how you treat a toddler

lionheart · 30/05/2019 11:35

An overtired, grumpy one at that.

Whosorrynow · 30/05/2019 13:58

A toddler trying desperately to hang onto his bottom teeth 🤭🤣

lionheart · 30/05/2019 14:09

That's quite an image ...
