This thing about his father being born in Germany, I wonder what was going on in his mind there....
he mentioned Angela Merkel German leader I think in his mind that links with Hitler who he obviously would admire since he is a totalitarian leader and that's what Trump aspires to
I think claiming that his father was German is actually a way of bragging that he is descended from Hitler, and the aim is to try and frame himself as someone who is born to be a totalitarian leader, he wants us to see him as son of Hitler
I don't think this is necessarily deliberate or conscious but I think that's what's going on in his mind and I think we are seeing clear evidence of cognitive impairment here, surely?

www.vox.com/2019/4/2/18292571/trump-nato-secretary-white-house-oranges

'During an Oval Office event with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg on Tuesday afternoon, President Donald Trump either lied or got confused about where his father was born, admitted that closing the border with Mexico will be economically harmful to the US (but threatened to do it anyway), pushed a baseless conspiracy theory, and repeatedly struggled to say the word “origins.”'

Oh Dear. Dysarthria?

Hearhere · 03/04/2019 12:00

@Cozietoes, dysarthria?
Oh, I'm sure he'll never be able to pronounce that one😂

Hearhere · 03/04/2019 12:03

get rid of judges?
Well.... it would be much easier wouldn't it to just let Trump do a thumbs up or thumbs down like the Roman emperors

Donors to the Trump inaugural committee got ambassador nominations. But are they qualified?

"Trump's picks are less qualified than prior presidents'," said a law professor at Marquette who has looked at the qualifications of nearly 2,000 nominees.

www.nbcnews.com/politics/donald-trump/donors-trump-inaugural-committee-got-ambassador-nominations-are-they-qualified-n990116

When President Donald Trump's pick for ambassador to the Bahamas testified before Congress to make the case for his nomination, he incorrectly stated that the island nation was part of the U.S. It is an independent country.

For ambassador to the United Arab Emirates — a job so sensitive in the tense Middle East that every previous president gave it to a career diplomat — Trump picked a wealthy real estate developer with no diplomatic experience.

The ambassador to Morocco? A well-heeled car dealer. The nominee for Iceland? While well-traveled, he had never been to that Nordic country. For Melania Trump's native country of Slovenia? The founder of an evangelical charity who frequently reposted false far-right social media posts on her Facebook page.

None have diplomatic experience, but they share one trait: All were big donors to Trump's presidential inaugural committee, which is now under federal investigation.

As with the mob bosses he can't risk choosing anyone clever who would be able to out manoeuvre him, mind you he sets a very low bar

Hearhere · 03/04/2019 12:44

The amount of energy he spends ingratiating himself to his base makes me wonder if he hopes that they will form some kind of militia and there will be an attempted coup when he is voted out
If that fails then bikers for trump will escort him to safety
Where will he go who will take him in?

House votes to approve subpoenas

lionheart · 03/04/2019 16:39

Good.

cozietoesie · 03/04/2019 16:46

For the Report plus 22 months of evidence collected?

Hearhere · 03/04/2019 22:03

When do we get to see trump in front of a judge answering questions
that's what I want to see
He'll be babbling about oranges and peaches, we can all play fruit bingo

AcrossthePond55 · 03/04/2019 22:35

Possibly never, Hear. I honestly think that the point now of everything going on in Wash DC is to keep him from being re-elected rather than impeached and/or charged with a crime(s).

From now until the 2020 election for Scrotus, it's all going to be about stalling, legal maneuvering to avoid subpoenas, trying to stack the judiciary, and dragging things through the courts. And of course about getting re-elected. And 'tradition' is that a sitting POTUS can't be indicted (although it's never truly been tested), so if there were to be charges against him, the earliest he'd be indicted would be 20/1/2021 (Inauguration Day, when his term officially ends). Although I can see them indicting in early November 2020 if when he loses the election.

deep down I know it's a fantasy unlikely to be realised Across
