Whatever Barr mischaracterized and omitted: it wasn’t nothing for Mueller’s team to leak/speak out to the press for only the second time in 22 months.

This is quite remarkable. And for those who don't spend every waking moment on this stuff, the Washington Post & NY Times reporters on these reports tonight are literally the best in the business. They've been chronicling this for 22 mos and have never written anything like it.

The part of the NYT story that didn’t make sense to me tonight is the idea that Mueller’s team would have produced a summary of findings that couldn’t be released to the public or Congress. Especially because Barr says the SCO is involved in preparing materials for release.

Washington Post now reports their summary(ies) were in fact prepared for wide release. Seems more logical if — as both papers report — Mueller team is shocked their summary(ies) were submarined in favor of Barr’s own homegrown ditties about what Mueller found.

NBC News has confirmed that some members of special counsel Robert Mueller’s team have expressed frustration that AG Barr cleared Trump of obstruction and they believe the evidence is stronger than Barr suggested in his March letter summarizing Mueller’s findings.

It's important to note that this doesn't change the legal conclusion by the AGwho is ultimately in charge of the investigationthat there was no criminal case for conspiracy or obstruction. But as a political matter, it's a big deal.

NBC News is also reporting that some on the Mueller team say his findings paint a picture of a campaign whose members were was manipulated by a sophisticated Russian intelligence operation. Some of that information may be classified.
