Ewe Just because the timing of it... just before he announces a run for POTUS... makes it dodgy IMHO. Especially given the pussy grabber currently in the WH

EweSurname · 02/04/2019 14:06

Is this any different to accusations against Roy Moore and the others in the sense of timing? Didn't Moore's supporters dismiss the allegations against him because they resurfaced before he ran for the Senate seat?

This isn't to say Trump is now redeemed - he's still an awful predator - but it's unrelated to Biden no?

Roussette · 02/04/2019 14:50

Quite possibly, yes, the timing is no different but putting Roy Moore in the same sentence as Joe Biden ... there is no comparison. Moore was accused of assaulting girls as young as 14, and many women came forward.

Trump the awful predator is unrelated to the Biden accusations ... it's just his rabid supporters who are getting plenty of mileage out of this - ironic given Trump's behaviour.

EweSurname · 02/04/2019 15:20

Agree that the severity of allegations between Biden and Moore aren't comparable, and that the hypocrisy of Trump supporters taking issue with Biden whilst not seeing a problem with Trump is maddening.

I'm just wary that the same might be true of Democrats if Biden's behaviour isn't taken seriously because he's a Dem. Turning a blind eye whether regardless of which party is doing it is a problem.

lionheart · 02/04/2019 16:16

I think there is more hesitation from the Democrats following the Al Franken events. Gillibrand is still taking flak for her part in that--you can see it is raised all over social media and used as a stick to discount whatever she says about anything.

lionheart · 02/04/2019 16:18

But yes it is a problem, regardless of party.

AcrossthePond55 · 02/04/2019 17:00

It's hard to say with Biden. He certainly doesn't come across as a 'creeper'. Simply someone who is physically affectionate as part of his nature and doesn't quite 'get' boundaries. This is NOT an excuse but perhaps is a reason why he has done things that have made people uncomfortable. That being said, he appears to have acknowledged that he needs to be more aware of this and he has apologized if he has given offense or has made someone uncomfortable. Something that Scrotus, Moore, et all have never done.

My own DH is an affectionate guy. But he's learnt to 'think first, hug later' after it was obvious that an innocent hug make one of our sons' girlfriends uncomfortable.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 02/04/2019 17:08

Didn't one of Biden's accusers specifically say that it wasn't sexual? Just that she didn't like it? But I can't remember whether that was the one who was kissed on the back of the head, or the one he bumped noses with....

He certainly doesn't seem to be being accused of having groped or sexually assaulted either of them.

AcrossthePond55 · 02/04/2019 17:44

*Asking^, yes.

She does seem to put it down to a 'boundaries' issue, rather than having a sexual intent.

EweSurname · 02/04/2019 20:59

I'd forgotten all about the Al Franken episode lion - you're right that it's probably having an effect.

This was the fwr thread on biden

EweSurname · 02/04/2019 21:15

On a cheerier note, new randy!

lionheart · 02/04/2019 21:34

Trump has just given an interview in which he claimed his father was born in Germany (rather than New York), said that they needed to get rid of judges and managed to have three tries at saying the word 'origins'.

The word he did manage to utter three times is appropriate enough though.

A thumb drive containing malicious software was found on Yujing Zhang's person when she was arrested, docs say.

Joe Biden looks like a dirty old man to me

cozietoesie · 02/04/2019 21:58

Not to me. He's a decent staking horse, though.

Here's Kris Kobach proposing putting asylum seekers in "processing towns that are confined" .... a "camp"

lionheart · 03/04/2019 09:39

Is that what the 'holding pen' under the bridge in Texas was about? So they could say a 'camp' is better?

Hearhere · 03/04/2019 10:15

He's got some sort of a fruit fixation I remember him referring to the wall as peaches now he's talking about oranges
I can't imagine he's someone who's worried about getting his 5 a day

Lweji · 03/04/2019 11:15

As in concentrating asylum seekers in camps?
