Booked for tomorrow & now I’m worried.

I found it unbearably painful. Gritted my teeth til the end, but never again. The result wasn't worth it either- I had white lumps of traumatised skin for 24hrs, and then the regrowth came through after a week, so £35 and all that agony for 6 hair-free days.

Also found breastfeeding unbearably painful, so do seem to have extra sensitive nerve endings.

Thehop · 27/02/2019 06:58

Pain and expense! People keep coming back for more though so must be something in it!

Mummadeeze · 27/02/2019 06:58

I have it done regularly because my pubic hairs have gone grey and white and I don’t like it. My head hair is still dark brown and I am 44. I am not ready for OAP pubes. It is not to do with pleasing a man or porn or anything other than grooming myself to feel better about ageing.

StarlightLady · 27/02/2019 07:25

In terms of discomfort, the first time is the worst, thereafter the body seems to settle, no itching either.

Pubic hair colour? No idea, there’s not been anything there of significance for over 20 years. Shaving or waxing, you can’t tell from minimal growth.

Porn inspired? My knowledge of porn may be limited but from what I have seen, it’s like life. There is a mix of both.

My grooming is not unhealthy nor done to attract men. It’s 100% for me!

TemporaryPermanent · 27/02/2019 07:44

I started this year having barely touched my pubic hair in my life (I'm 49). I was afraid if the pain and did take painkillers the first time - I definitely caught my breath a few times but it was absolutely FINE and I am a wuss. I forgot the painkillers the second time and it was definitely stingier but not major.

I did it because i didn't like having salt and pepper pubes. I dye my head hair as well, so sue me. I really like the way it looks and feels. Go to someone who does it a lot - tbh it's so common now that won't be hard.

Lungelady · 27/02/2019 07:49

I have had Hollywoods for 20 years..I am almost 60 and yes, will be continuing to have them in my 60s.
My legs and bikini line were lasered over 10 years ago.

anniehm · 27/02/2019 07:50

Pain, no dignity but you are hair free. Think leg wax pain x10

Elephantina · 27/02/2019 07:56

I'd love to have a professional bikini wax (not so much a Hollywood) but I am CRIPPLED with horror and embarrassment at the thought of anyone other than DH getting so close to my ugly minge, even less so my arsehole.

I had it done once, for my wedding 16 years ago - they used strip wax and the skin was left black and purple with bruising, so I never did it again.

The lady that does my eyebrows seems very accomplished in the arena of hot waxing, speaks freely about it and would certainly not judge - but I quite like her so I don't want to scar her for life by making her gaze into my fanny.

Lungelady · 27/02/2019 07:58

Why do you think you have an "ugly minge"?

KingMash · 27/02/2019 07:59

I have a Brazilian regularly. Never had a Hollywood, I like having my small strip left Blush

Nothing to do with men, I do it whether single or not, like the clean feeling

Dafspunk · 27/02/2019 08:13

@finnmccool I converted from hot wax to sugaring when my wax/sugar lady suggested I give it a try. I find it much less painful than waxing.

However, my wax/sugar lady is amazing and I think this might be down to her technique as I had to go to someone else while I was travelling and it was torture.

I’d recommend at least trying it though!

IncrediblySadToo · 27/02/2019 08:32

Elephantina. Look up 100 Vulvas. You’ll soon see that yours is as normal as anyone else’s! They truly are as different as faces.

If you’re too uncomfortable to remove your knickers they’ll be fine with you leaving them on and wrap some paper towel around the edges. Wear pants you don’t mind getting wax on though.

aibutohavethisusername · 27/02/2019 09:28

Thanks everyone. I’m going to definitely take some paracetamol. Sounds like I need vodka too but bit early in the day for that.
I’m not doing it to please my partner, I’m doing it as I love swimming and thought it would be easier.

Butternutsqoosh · 27/02/2019 09:34

Definitely ask for hot wax! So much less painful than strip wax - and for whoever asked about when pregnant...I did. Well one side anyway, couldn't handle the other side it was soooo awful!!

BMW6 · 27/02/2019 09:43

I'm 61 next month and definitely have a lot less pubic and armpit hair than I used to.
The way it's going I reckon I'll be bald down there by the time I reach 70.

JacquesHammer · 27/02/2019 09:44

Why are women getting their pubic hair ripped out these days? Is it because men want/demand them to be bald or is it because they want to look like the women in the pornos?

Neither. HTH

Derekmorganwasinmybed · 27/02/2019 09:51

I’m in my 40s and been removing all hair since I was 13,nothing to do with what men wanted or porn

JacquesHammer · 27/02/2019 09:53

Not sure why any woman wants to look like a child

Is the only thing that makes YOU look like an adult your pubic hair?

LucheroTena · 27/02/2019 10:00

Jeez what a charade. All these upkeeps are like a tax on women really. Men must have a lot more in savings.

KittyLover91 · 27/02/2019 10:02

It hurts in the moment but I personally think its worth it. Good luck!

IncrediblySadToo · 27/02/2019 10:04

OP it’s never too early for medicinal vodka 🤣

The first time is the worst, by a long way, so if you cope today you’ll be fine in future.

Quintella · 27/02/2019 10:05

All these upkeeps are like a tax on women really. Men must have a lot more in savings.

Not the men who are under 30. They're almost a pube free zone.

Jebuschristchocolatebar · 27/02/2019 10:05

Get laser, it lasts for years

loobyloo1234 · 27/02/2019 10:15

Numbing cream for a downstairs wax? Slight exaggeration no?

You'll be fine. Pain lasts about 2 seconds. I prefer a Brazilian tbh, the thought of being a complete baldy just doesn't appeal to me Smile Looks so much better than shaving though

R2G · 27/02/2019 10:16

Make sure it’s Lycon wax
