To think I didn't get what I asked for? Hair

Name changed as every outing.

This maybe is a bit hard to follow so I had added an image for ease.

Please do not tell me it is only hair. It isn't, I've spent a fortune in 3 years getting it where it is and to keep my length.

1 is when I walked into the salon.
2 is the last time I had my hair done there.
3 and 4 show my hair now after visiting this time.
5 shows the golden colour I wanted on my ends and the blonde this time.
6 shows how I wanted a root shadow/blur/blend/ombre/ balayage with the blonde and lighter around the face this time. But I explained in golden blonde.

I showed 5 and 6 to the hairdresser when I went in.

I asked to go warmer because as you can see in 1 and 2 it naturally goes that way and I thought it would be better on my hair. Same of the root shadow I wanted to protect my hair from more stress and colour long term, but still be blonde.

Aibu to think this looks nothing like how I requested?

The hairdresser has said and I quote, " I don't think it went wrong though if I'm honest".

For clarity she told me not to pay "as it isn't what you asked for, you're not happy and you were here 7 hours. Come back if it is too dark and I will lighten it up".
I was khaki green at one stage with white stripes and she wanted to stop processing it then. I asked her to put one more toner on to correct the green. This corrected, but is a red based toner so may wash out.

I contacted her to request this lightening up and her boss (who is understandably angry she spent 7 hours on a free client) and she is in trouble and a meeting tomorrow.

She won't be lightening it up as she's now blocked me across social media after making false claims to me(saying she warned me about my hair when she didn't) and me telling her so. I wished her luck tomorrow and suggested she get him to call me if she needs so I can explain.

For reference, I get a weekly blow-dry there, I have been loyal to them for 3 years and I went there for nearly a year two years before that too until they sacked all the staff and replaced them with new staff after being closed a few months. I get my hair coloured every 6-10 weeks there depending on roots, toners every 3-4 weeks, my cuts there, my four DC cut there and my DH used to go there until recently, I also let them upload my kid's pics for adverts. (DH goes somewhere to get beard trim as well now) and she has ALWAYS done a great job, until now. And I have told her I appreciate hairdressing isn't a completely perfected science, I don't blame her I just really dislike it. (I have a little experience)

Aibu to think I don't have want I wanted?

YANBU at all, that is nothing like what you asked for. You wanted a balayage with the root darkened (I think?) and it looks like a brown with a few caramel highlights. I’d be furious, especially due to the cost of going blonde in the first place, it’s a lot of work! Now if you wanted it colour correcting your hair will have to go through more bleaching because she can’t colour match a clear photo? I’d be seriously pissed off. You’re being very kind to her, which is lovely of you, but she messed up. Very shitty of her to block you on social media as well. Your hair as it is now does look nice, but it’s definitely not what you asked for judging by those photos.

Lovingbenidorm · 08/02/2019 01:28

Sorry to sound mean here but you do sound like hard work tbh.
I think your hair looks fabulous
Do you think perhaps you’re a little over invested?

SleepWarrior · 08/02/2019 01:29

You wanted 5 and 6 and got 3 and 4? Have I understood correctly? YANBU if that's the case. They are wildly different! Is she an employee or is it her salon?

Meagain19 · 08/02/2019 01:38

She is a manager at that location with 20 years experience but is not the owner.

If I am hard work then I am sorry, I am the customer who brings in the most money and until now she has appreciated that.

Yes I have 3 and 4 now and I asked for a mix of 5 and 6.

@withasideofbeans

Yes, it is going to cost a fortune and wreck my hair to correct it any time soon.

Rtmhwales · 08/02/2019 01:39

That's not even remotely the same color. How did it come out brown when you wanted blonde?

Poppins2016 · 08/02/2019 01:39

It certainly isn't whet you requested (although it does look lovely).

Rather than over processing now, I'd ask them to correct it in about 6-8 weeks time (unless the toner washes out disastrously before then). I've found that brown often fades quite fast when it's been put over bleached blonde, so it would be kinder to your hair to wait, if you can stand to.

TheseThingsAreFunAndFunIsGood · 08/02/2019 01:39

benidorm has GOT to be the hairdresser.. 😂 I think you're being kind too Op, Shea basically just dyed your hair brown! And I rather lacklustre grey-brown at that.. if you really zoom in you can just pick out the odd streak of dark caramel but there no trace of blonde left at all... They Owe you for sure...

user1473878824 · 08/02/2019 01:40

Can I just say your hair looks FAB and I wish mine was in such good condition but no that’s not at all what you wanted.

halfwitpicker · 08/02/2019 01:43

Well the diagram took some figuring out but from what I gather you want to be blonde but instead you're a solid brunette?

I'd be complaining tbh

IhateBoswell · 08/02/2019 01:43

Hard work?!

I'd be mad too OP, what a difference.

Meagain19 · 08/02/2019 01:46

@rtmhwales

I think it went wrong when I asked for golden blonde and she added a lot of neutral toners in as she believe it would go orange and wasn't confident to apply just the warm golden tone. I think the white blonde hair picked out the heavy neutrals which were a greeny brown and left me with khaki. Which had to be corrected with a red violet.

Or the only other thing I can think of is a defective colour, old colour or incorrectly stored colour.

I don't know what to do now. I know the manager is very... Carefully with his money and will likely not allow her to correct it and she likely won't if shes blocked me.

I have soaked a cut piece in vitamin c to lighten it a bit and it is khaki underneath and still dark Sad

OP posts:
Lovingbenidorm · 08/02/2019 01:50

I can assure you I’m NOT the hairdresser!😂
I’ve obviously missed the point here
I thought OP’s hair looked lovely

Lovingbenidorm · 08/02/2019 01:51

Oh! Just realised the pictures in order!
Sue the fuck out of them!

Meagain19 · 08/02/2019 01:57

@Lovingbenidorm that's what my DM said to do Sad

I have Rosea and the red and dark makes it look horrendous! I look like a damn beetroot. Not their fault, but it adds to the reason why I hate it, tenfold.

OP posts:
Lovingbenidorm · 08/02/2019 02:05

I’m really sorry I thought you were overreacting, obviously you’re not.
It’s expensive and distressing.
I really hope you get it sorted.
Though I would say, you do have lovely hair x

Donmesswime · 08/02/2019 02:10

She dyed your hair brown? Maybe she got the dyes mixed up?
Ye, at least she didn't charge you. And she shouldn't charge you to correct it either.

Meagain19 · 08/02/2019 02:23

Yeah, it is a red-brown with slightly lighter stripes at the front. The rest is all one shade but a bit murky on the ends at the back.

The stripes were a creamy white blonde with the khaki but I asked her to blend them in by computing those too. I did that because the back and sides were so much darker as the khaki than the golden blonde I wanted that I looked like something from X-Men.

OP posts:
Meagain19 · 08/02/2019 02:24

Covering those too*

steff13 · 08/02/2019 02:26

I think it's pretty, but it isn't what you asked for.

Smotheroffive · 08/02/2019 02:37

I can't believe a colour technician can go so very wrong!

Your hair does look amazing, and rich in tone....but that's no good if its going to fade to khaki! Or that its a clash with your skin tone. Not kidding now, but ifmine had gone so wrong I would be in tears and wouldn't be happy to leave there without watertight promises of it being properly rectified.

YANB atall U! In fact yes, too kind really. That's horrible when you've dedicated such time an effort not to mention money to bring your hair to this point, only to have this done. Blimey the hairdresser needs bloody outting on fb, CF!

I think its a shame that you have doubted yourself so much when you took in such clear pics that you actually thought others needed to see it to tell you how completely different it is. Noone could see those and think your hair tones are in any way similar. You need to see a proper colourist at their expense!

Smotheroffive · 08/02/2019 02:41

Have you lost a lot of length too?

Monday55 · 08/02/2019 02:48

You have every right to be angry and frustrated. I would consider taking my custom elsewhere. It's good though that you didn't have to pay for their mistake.

RainbowWaffles · 08/02/2019 02:52

You went in blonde, wanted a different blonde and came out a solid dark brown. Wtf?! You are entitled to be angry. I wouldn’t pay for that either. I don’t think I have ever seen hair so wildly off the mark!
