To think I didn't get what I asked for? Hair

Name changed as every outing.

This maybe is a bit hard to follow so I had added an image for ease.

Please do not tell me it is only hair. It isn't, I've spent a fortune in 3 years getting it where it is and to keep my length.

1 is when I walked into the salon.
2 is the last time I had my hair done there.
3 and 4 show my hair now after visiting this time.
5 shows the golden colour I wanted on my ends and the blonde this time.
6 shows how I wanted a root shadow/blur/blend/ombre/ balayage with the blonde and lighter around the face this time. But I explained in golden blonde.

I showed 5 and 6 to the hairdresser when I went in.

I asked to go warmer because as you can see in 1 and 2 it naturally goes that way and I thought it would be better on my hair. Same of the root shadow I wanted to protect my hair from more stress and colour long term, but still be blonde.

Aibu to think this looks nothing like how I requested?

The hairdresser has said and I quote, " I don't think it went wrong though if I'm honest".

For clarity she told me not to pay "as it isn't what you asked for, you're not happy and you were here 7 hours. Come back if it is too dark and I will lighten it up".
I was khaki green at one stage with white stripes and she wanted to stop processing it then. I asked her to put one more toner on to correct the green. This corrected, but is a red based toner so may wash out.

I contacted her to request this lightening up and her boss (who is understandably angry she spent 7 hours on a free client) and she is in trouble and a meeting tomorrow.

She won't be lightening it up as she's now blocked me across social media after making false claims to me(saying she warned me about my hair when she didn't) and me telling her so. I wished her luck tomorrow and suggested she get him to call me if she needs so I can explain.

For reference, I get a weekly blow-dry there, I have been loyal to them for 3 years and I went there for nearly a year two years before that too until they sacked all the staff and replaced them with new staff after being closed a few months. I get my hair coloured every 6-10 weeks there depending on roots, toners every 3-4 weeks, my cuts there, my four DC cut there and my DH used to go there until recently, I also let them upload my kid's pics for adverts. (DH goes somewhere to get beard trim as well now) and she has ALWAYS done a great job, until now. And I have told her I appreciate hairdressing isn't a completely perfected science, I don't blame her I just really dislike it. (I have a little experience)

Aibu to think I don't have want I wanted?

She fucked up

Lucia1234 · 09/02/2019 18:18

A very similar thing happened to me. I was blonde and wanted to go Ombre. My haidresser made me dark! It took ages to correct it and I was brassy for ages. You are the customer. I'm glad you didn't pay as you will be paying through the nose to get it right! I know sadly from experience 😣

Vivianebrezilletbrooks · 09/02/2019 19:39

For people to be saying it looks lovely you're missing the point. It's not what she asked for, nothing like and you need to make them correct it. I'm shocked that the hairdresser blocked you but she's now panicking over fear of damage to her reputation hence why she did it.
I've had a situation myself where they cut my hair too short and used straighteners to hide it. It looked great leaving the salon but shrank too short the next day. I don't own straighteners and won't buy them as I'm not someone who will sit there and fiddle with my hair for ages.
I don't like having straighteners used on my hair as they were the most recent time I had my hair done and I think it's an easy way to cover hair cut too short.
If they don't sort your hair out OP, threaten to sue. You definitely have a case.

2birds1stone · 09/02/2019 19:44

I can't help with the hair dye bit but I am gutted for you.

But re the rosacea, my mum suffers a little with this and uses bare minerals foundation. Because It's natural ingredients it took at the redness and helped so much

Deadbudgie · 09/02/2019 20:04

I much prefer the brown to the blonde but it’s your choice and you didn’t get what you asked for. Tbh I couldn’t be arsed with all the hassle trying to get it that colour now. I’d just live with the brown find a new hair dresser

Coldandfrosty · 09/02/2019 21:57

Wtf totally wrong colour

Fluffypot333 · 09/02/2019 22:08

The hairdresser has dyed your hair dark brown from light blonde and you wanted ombre , I would be raging .You are definitely not hard work ,sounds like she didnt know how to do it and just thought this will do .

FredFlinstoneMadeOfBones · 09/02/2019 22:12

I don't care much about hair and I think it looks nice enough but it incompletely different from what you asked for YADNBU to be annoyed. You wanted your hair a certain way and she's made it completely different in a way that isn't quickly resolvable.

Shouldbecleaning92 · 09/02/2019 22:33

A hairdresser of mine who I really trusted and who was more like a friend (although we had met via the salon) once gave me grey highlights 😩 she put them far too close to the front of my hair and they were literally grey/white. I had loads of comments on had I started greying 😟 i sent her pics and she denied any wrong doing. She was independent at this point so I ended up having to pay about £120 to go to another salon and have it fixed. They could only do so much as she had ruined my hair and overall it took about a year to fix and be in decent condition!

Your hair does look lovely but it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks if you're not happy and it's definitely not what you asked for!

Sorry OP 😟 new hair is meant to be fun!

RoboticSealpup · 09/02/2019 22:59

This has happened to me about ten times. I I once asked for dark blonde and came out jet black. Another time I asked for ash blonde and came out ginger, which was then "corrected" to a dark brown. The time it went ginger, the guy (who had black eyebrows, brown eyes and peroxide hair) tried to bullshit me that the ginger was the "right colour for my skin tone". I have reddish tones in my skin and the ginger made me look pink.

Tldr: Hairdressers frequently fuck up massively but most will argue until they're blue in the face rather than admit it.

Mumoflove · 10/02/2019 16:27

It looks awful! I had a green experience once and ended up cutting it off by myself one evening at home in frustration. Never again!

Meagain19 · 11/02/2019 17:46

I still haven't heard from the owner. I have contacted a few no win no fee places though, two have suggested I have a case.
I am not taking any action yet, but I want to see if legally I have any rights before the owner either forgets me or demands I pay.

It is been washed once between these pics and look how much has washed out, I don't know if you can see but I can, how khaki it looks and how bad the cut is too where she rushed me out.

To be fair it has faded a lot after one wash - that’s promising.

However it looks SO warm and practically ginger near your roots - such a shame considering your ash colour before. I understand why the lengths would turn warm as she placed a warm tone over the blonde, but why are your roots that colour? Did she bleach your regrowth too?

hastingsmua1 · 11/02/2019 20:51

I think she just wanted to wreck your hair on purpose!

Wakk · 11/02/2019 21:34

She's done a dreadful cut too Angry

Meagain19 · 12/02/2019 08:44

The owner has contacted me and basically said I am not welcome at his salons. He didn't ask me at all how I feel or for my side of events or even for photos of my hair before and after. Disgusting customer service.

SimplyPut · 12/02/2019 08:48

I have followed this and hoped the owner would see sense. Your latest pictures show root glow and mud brown, even if you had asked to go brown it would be a shoddy job... the fact that you asked for the opposite is mind blowing!

Meagain19 · 12/02/2019 09:05

I can't believe he hasn't asked me a single question about the whole experience and what happened. I expected him to side with his member of staff, but for him to completely listen to her side of the story is wrong.

Actually gobsmacked.

It also asks me not to contact his staff privately again, making out like I have been harassing them or something!!

I am deciding now whether to respond with a very factual email to wipe the floor with him or to continue with the no win no fee case.

Hmm

Meagain19 · 12/02/2019 09:06

I also have no idea what she actually used on my hair which will make it difficult to resolve when I go elsewhere.

The cut is bloody awful, isn't it?! I didn't notice at the time, all I could see was the dark hair. But the layers and feathering is all the damn place.

LilQuim · 12/02/2019 09:06

I'd email back, to have it on record. Every. Single. Mistake!

DaffoDeffo · 12/02/2019 09:14

I really feel for you. I have very similar hair and have had 2 experiences which made me never want to go back to the hairdresser. I think making a mistake with our hair colour seems to be incredibly easy!

I had one where they put highlights in but put some white streaks in and like another poster, put it too near the front of my head making it look like I was going grey fgs

Then last week, I asked them to make it lighter blonde and it also looks like they've put a brown wash through my hair, in fact, my roots look positively orange fgs. I'm also hoping it will wash out. Luckily the rest of my hair was still quite bright blonde so that looks ok and they did a lovely cut.

I would just go for no win no fee now. At least it is washing out. I'd be tempted to get someone to put highlights in for you and get it re cut because it does look like it needs a bit of tidying up.

Sorry you had such a shit experience!

hastingsmua1 · 12/02/2019 09:45

Shocked at the reply - it’s like he thinks you’re trying it on/taking the piss, wonder what the stylist told him.

I don’t think they’re legally obligated to fix it for you, free of charge, especially if they refuse service. However if you incur costs to fix it (further salon visits elsewhere, hair extensions etc) then your solicitor may be able to help you reclaim those costs. UK courts generally don’t offer compensation, so any emotional distress payment would be negligible or non existent.

I would reply via email with the view of it being read by solicitors/civil court in the future. Be very polite, don’t say anything that would look negative for you, keep it factual and unemotional.

hastingsmua1 · 12/02/2019 09:46

Also definitely send him the photographs. He didn’t ask for your side but it’s worth telling him anyway if his wires are crossed

Meagain19 · 12/02/2019 11:40

I have drafted a response, but I will wait to hear back from solicitors before I send it in case it goes against their advice.

I also don't want to get my hair fixed until they've responded either in case they want to take pics etc.

It's bloody awful, every time I look in the mirror I feel like I had a dodgy wig on. Wine
