To be annoyed at woman from DofE car crash?

Whatever we think about Prince Phillip and his driving, the accident happened and two ladies were unfortunately hurt.

However, I am watching This Morning and getting some level of rage about the clear compo grabbing attitude of this lady! Crashes happen every day and she has no need to be splashed across every news paper and programme because she wants an apology!

The Royal Family have even said they have tried to be in touch but not getting a response. What does she want?!

mydogisthebest · 22/01/2019 15:44

Mumberjack, I am not trying to absolve him of any blame. I am not blaming either driver because I do NOT know the facts.

I do think though running to the papers with an oh so sad face is pathetic.

I can't imagine selling a story to a newspaper. It's just such a tacky thing to do and, as everyone knows, if they can dig up any dirt they will. I have no skeletons but can't be totally sure no one in my family hasn't. I wouldn't want some awful thing about any of them to be all over the papers.

GTA2020 · 22/01/2019 15:47

At the end of the day this was an accident no one did it deliberately, the police are investigating and the correct thing to do is leave this to police and insurers as the driver is doing who has maintained a dignified silence.

This lady the passenger Ms Fairweather has run to the press, ok that's her right but its silly and also silly to lie as she has contradicted herself and basically lied in the various stories

1 - She says it took two hours for an ambulance to arrive now that's a lie as we see from other drivers dashcam video that an ambulance was on scene very quickly.

2 - She says she received no support or help from police, that's a lie as she had a Police Liaison Officer with her at the hospital and even states herself she has spoken to them since

3 - She says only her wrist was treated and that the hospital did not treat her other injuries, she says she told the hospital about all her other injuries but they ignored her, that's a lie and she needs to be careful as the hospital could now take action against her as she was fully checked over and treated.

This lady expected the Queen to call her personally and apologise and send her flowers , well we all know you do not apologise after an accident even if you are in the wrong you leave that to insurers . And it appears the call from the lady in waiting came before she told press she had heard nothing from them ?

It is very telling she says the only support she has had is from immediate family, what about her friends ? and very telling she has had no contact from her friend the driver whose insurance details she has also been chasing, just a formal email from the drivers husband. Sounds to me like she has upset a few people by her actions

She is milking it , she has told us via the press that due to this accident she has now lost her independence and that now her son has to wash and dress her , funny it did not seem to affect her meeting journalists and being photographed or travelling down to London to appear on This Morning.

very silly lady as this will come back to bite her, greed does not get you anywhere

CantWaitToRetire · 22/01/2019 15:52

Thanks for the update Lulu. I'm sure the journalists will be working as quick as they can as they'll want to run the story before the public starts losing interest in the 'main players'. Will be interesting to see what else they dig up.

mydogisthebest · 22/01/2019 15:58

Did she break her right or left wrist? I wonder if she is right or left handed?

My mum broke her right wrist (she is right handed) aged 85. She managed to wash herself and dress herself although there were certain clothes she couldn't wear because of buttons etc.

Me and my siblings all took it in turns to try and help her with cooking, housework etc but she was so stubborn wanting to do everything herself

ajandjjmum · 22/01/2019 16:00

I can't imagine selling a story to a newspaper.

Nor can I, and for that I thank my lucky stars.

I didn't see Lulu's early posts, and only know what I can gather from other posts after hers had been deleted. If I was having demands for thousands of pounds that I hadn't spent coming through my door, I could imagine that I would sell my story to anyone who might help right the situation.

over50andfab · 22/01/2019 16:01

Just to add to GTA2020:

She said she did not remember it being sunny that day. There is a photo on the This Morning fb page taken by someone at the scene - clearly showing the sun shining.

She said they could are 150yds ahead, yet another poster here has been to the scene and says visibility is only 50yd approx.

HIVpos · 22/01/2019 16:02

*she said they could see 150yds ahead

over50andfab · 22/01/2019 16:04

That’s the one - thanks Grin

samphireaidee · 22/01/2019 16:06

yes she had x ray vision it appears! I looked at the dash cam footage online. ambulance etc there in daylight. its dark 4;30pm ish. so yes the 2 hour wait is a lie (i didnt know as when i past it there wasn`t an ambulance on scene at that point)

LakieLady · 22/01/2019 16:10

she has told us via the press that due to this accident she has now lost her independence and that now her son has to wash and dress her

I've broken my wrist 3 times and it is surprisingly disabling. Unless you've got very long arms, you can't reach your whole body with one hand and I couldn't get my thumb and forefinger together, so couldn't manage any buttons, zips or shoelaces. I couldn't put on a pair of tights or dry my own hair. I also couldn't open tins or cut up anything, so my diet was very limited.

I was in tears of frustration on many occasions the first time, after that, I knew what to expect.

samphireaidee · 22/01/2019 16:16

i drove by it 3:20 pm ? picked up ds from school @3pm hunstanton. an unmarked emergency vehicle with "mini" blue lights sped past school car park 2:55ish. i remember looking up at it towards that direction.

samphireaidee · 22/01/2019 16:19

i can`t remember seeing what vehicles were there, i had ds twittering next to me on his phone and the low sun etc i was driving.

samphireaidee · 22/01/2019 16:24

i dont think an ambulance was there.....but i`m not sure. i do remember a police car and cones on the road, a policeman sweeping glass away. road wasnt blocked at all.

HelenaDove · 22/01/2019 16:28

@GTA2020 sorry but there are a couple of disabled actresses i can think of who need help from carers to get ready in the mornings but are able to work and act in dramas.

Its a bit more nuanced than you are suggesting.

GTA2020 · 22/01/2019 16:30

The ambulance was there shortly after the crash and it was still daylight at that time, it is seen on a drivers dashcam footage www.thesun.co.uk/video/news/exclusive-footage-of-prince-philips-car-crash-filmed-by-passing-motorist/

GTA2020 · 22/01/2019 16:31

Forgot to say in addition to ambulance there is also a Paramedic instant response vehicle

GTA2020 · 22/01/2019 16:34

I am suggesting the lady is a liar, she may need help with some buttons but her story about now having no independence and the hospital ignoring all her injuries despite her telling them and only bothering to treat her wrist and being helpless is rubbish, she managed perfectly ok to take a train down to London and be interviewed. My relative has just had a serious operation which is far more serious than this ladies broken wrist and they are managing

I agree GTA.
The more she talks and makes a fuss and exaggerates, the more her story changes and the more it becomes her pants may be on fire.

samphireaidee · 22/01/2019 16:54

if she got a train it would have been kings lynn - kings cross .

SaucePansLabyrinth · 22/01/2019 17:00

The comments on the TM Facebook page. I'll bet her 'friend' is cringing.

I already know that - you kindly sent me a lovely little PM to let me know, so why have you posted it on the thread too?

According to this thread and the comments therein from MNHQ, “We agree that Moron and many other words that have been given as examples are offensive to some and not to others. We tend not to blanket ban words or add in "swear" filters as we think folks should be able to say what they want (Unless it breaks the guidelines ) and using any insult as a personal attack would be removed.”

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/site_stuff/2689743-use-of-the-word-moron

There was no personal attack in my post, so I guess we’ll just have to see if a blanket ban applies in this instance.

Definition from the Oxford Dictionary, for context:

NOUN
informal
A stupid person.
‘we can't let these thoughtless morons get away with mindless vandalism every weekend’

I've broken my wrist 3 times. The first time DS1 was 10 months old. DH was allowed 2 days off work then I had to get on with it. I washed and dressed myself and him and changed nappies. Back then, 23yrs ago, I can't remember there being Limbo covers so I put a carrier bag over my cast. The second and third times I thought I had sprained it so didn't get it checked for weeks.

This woman is out for her five minutes of fame. She's obviously fallen out with her friend over this and her story has more holes than a pair of fish net tights.

If the woman that Prince Philip smashed into milks it anymore she’ll have vegans protesting outside her house

She wants him to get prosecuted if he’s at fault. Aye love, and I want steak and a blowjob on the March the 14th instead of a Rustlers and a wank.

That’s not how this is going to go down is it? He’s the Duke of Edinburgh for fuck’s sake, married to the Queen.

How has she got so far in life without realising that laws and rules don’t don’t apply to a select few?

Fuck, the old bastard even defies the laws of physics, he’s 97 years old for Christ’s sake. His skin probably tears easier than Kleenex and yet he walked away from a 60mph collision, which rolled his car over, with less bruises than a dropped peach.

What was she expecting, flowers, a hug, a fucking Trooping the Colour in her honour?

Just let the insurance deal with it, like with every other fucking accident.

A woman went into the back of me last year at some lights, I don’t nip round for fucking Sunday Dinner.

Get over it, I mean, do you know this man at all? He’s literally spent the last 50 years cutting ribbons and being a racist cunt, he doesn’t give a flying fuck about you.

ajandjjmum · 22/01/2019 17:20

My 86 year old Mum fell off an unstable stool at her opticians and broke her wrist. Painful hospital treatment, awkward couple of months, but she coped and survived without too much fuss. The optician was obviously worried and sent his wife round with a big bunch of flowers. My Mum was old school - accidents happen - learn and get on with it!
