To be annoyed at woman from DofE car crash?

ilovemilton · 21/01/2019 10:52

Whatever we think about Prince Phillip and his driving, the accident happened and two ladies were unfortunately hurt.

However, I am watching This Morning and getting some level of rage about the clear compo grabbing attitude of this lady! Crashes happen every day and she has no need to be splashed across every news paper and programme because she wants an apology!

The Royal Family have even said they have tried to be in touch but not getting a response. What does she want?!

I haven't seen anything either. I saw something about one of the Queen's gamekeepers attacking a man with a stick - apparently- and wonder if the DM has moved on.

As someone earlier mentioned, Meghan must be relieved of a break. Especially as her nephew is about to star in an MTV reality show about fake royals.

PassTheGinPlease · 22/01/2019 06:19

@OhDearGodLookAtThisMess

It does have reinforced windows, the new one he had delivered within a nanosecond had some sort of metal rods within the windows

Also, from reports, he didn't stop at the junction, he carried on straight round as he was "blinded by the sun" (allegedly), although a sensible and safe driver would have actually stopped at the junction if that was the case.

LuluBellaBlue · 22/01/2019 06:54

Just been told a reporter will be calling me later to clarify a few things...... and yes it’s the Sun..... and no, I have no shame! Grin
Yesterday the photographer kept asking me to stop smiling in the pics, I did a straight face but couldn’t do the sad face with letter pic!

LuluBellaBlue · 22/01/2019 06:55

And thank you for everyone’s support, I’m actually feeling much better today. The anxiety has lessened.
Is it silly that I’m worried what my work colleagues will think over me being in court and the attack?
Stupid how as a victim, we seem to automatically feel ashamed.... Confused

StealthPolarBear · 22/01/2019 06:56

I suspect the Queen and d of e will want to remember themselves to you!

LutherLover · 22/01/2019 07:11

Wonder if PP and QofE will find out about what she’s done. I don’t imagine the read The Sun but a member of their team will surely bring this up with them.

RLABC · 22/01/2019 07:12

@LuluBellaBlue This is the first time I'll actively be searching to readThe Sun Grin
I didn't see your posts before the mass deletions but, reading between the lines, I think you are doing the right thing. Show this woman up for who she is!
I also think you should accept payment for your story, I know you've said that you don't want to profit from it but by the sounds of it, you've been left with a lot of debt. Not to mention the emotional stress! Get what you can, if there's any extra after debts have been paid then donate that to a charity, if you feel like it. That way you're not profiting, just recouping lost funds.
Good luck Flowers You're comment about being told not to smile did make me Grin!

SaveKevin · 22/01/2019 07:26

First thing I did this morning was refresh this thread to see if it made it to the papers.

Good luck lulu Flowers

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 22/01/2019 07:38

Me too @SaveKevin!!

LuluBellaBlue · 22/01/2019 07:39

Thank you everyone. I’ve been a small time poster / mainly lurker for ages and saw the power of support us mumsnetters can offer (usually because of some LTB!).

Hand on heart the support I’ve had is amazing and has given me the courage to speak out so huge thank you!!! 🙏🏽

scrivette · 22/01/2019 07:40

I am glad the Sun has it rather than the DM! Grin

Hope it all works out for you.

Slatkater · 22/01/2019 07:49

Lulu Flowers

You are really doing a service, making sure everyone is aware of her. Who knows, more victims may feel brave enough to come out and maybe give the police more evidence to prosecute.

Ladymargarethall · 22/01/2019 07:53

One of our neighbours has a son who is a journalist on the Sun. I quite often read it in Waitrose cafe to see if he has anything in. 😉

MidniteScribbler · 22/01/2019 07:53

As someone earlier mentioned, Meghan must be relieved of a break. Especially as her nephew is about to star in an MTV reality show about fake royals.

That was on a while ago. I remember seeing it on Aussie TV.

Shallishanti123 · 22/01/2019 07:57

Lulu, your work colleagues will be proud of you for going to court. It’s a difficult process and you were very brave and strong to do it. Be proud of yourself. We can not control other people’s actions, but we can control how we respond to them and you did the right thing. Flowers

mydogisthebest · 22/01/2019 08:01

IForgotThisEvening, maybe you would sell your story to the press but most people would not.

I certainly wouldn't even though I have absolutely no skeletons that our gutter press could dig up

StoneofDestiny · 22/01/2019 08:03

Ladymargarethall

Your Waitrose provides The Sun in their café ? Wow

ehohtinkywinky · 22/01/2019 08:16

People begging for a PM need to step away from the internet for 10 minutes.

Going to go against the grain here and say that if I were you @LuluBellaBlue I'd think hard about whether this is what you want. If you feel anxious now I wouldn't imagine it's going to feel better having your photo and story in the Sun for any friends / family / colleagues and acquaintances to read. Yes she deserves some back lash but not at the expense of your own well-being. Once that's out there you can't take it back. It'll come up prominently for your name in google and be seen by any prospective employers etc.

Not to mention she's clearly got a lot of time on her hands, are you happy to engage in a back and forth with her because of this?

I would fully understand trying to pursue getting the money back through proper channels but personally I wouldn't have a thick enough skin to do it this way

user1457017537 · 22/01/2019 08:30

To pursue the money back through legal channels would cost £££s probably far more than the original amount. Name and shame Lulu at least you will feel better and may get some financial compensation from the Sun.

StephanieNicks · 22/01/2019 08:35

@LuluBellaBlue - how did the press agency make contact with you? Was it a PM or did MNHQ arrange it?

You've been egged on by a bunch of MNetters who don't care about you they just love a fight. Normally, they'd be kicking up a stink about a newspaper trawling the forum for gossip and innuendo.

If I were you, I'd withdraw permission for the Sun to maul with my story.

localfluff · 22/01/2019 08:39

Lulu isn't the one who has done wrong though. Other victims may read and have the confidence to come forward.

Alpineponyclub · 22/01/2019 08:43

I would love to be a fly on her wall , when she finds out that Lulu has been talking to reporters....Smile

StephanieNicks · 22/01/2019 08:53

Lulu isn't the one who has done wrong though

You have no idea who has "done wrong" or been wronged. You may or may not have seen the deleted post (I did and I reported it) but we have no way of confirming it's veracity.

I would love to be a fly on her wall , when she finds out that Lulu has been talking to reporters

Proves my point. Posters are just looking for a fight. It's not their personal details and photos that are going to be on the internet forever.

FlyMayBe · 22/01/2019 08:54

I wish I'd seen Lulu's original post....

Leelaseye · 22/01/2019 09:03
