Does anyone else have 'the chair' in their bedroom?

You know, the chair? The chair where worn but not ready to go in the wash clothes go because it feels weird hanging them back up if they're not clean?

Then the pile of clothes gets so big you can no longer see the chair. Then when you crack and de-clothe the chair you find things you'd totally forgotten about?

Or is this just me? Am I the only slovenly one?

DH has a stool and it drives me to distraction! Put the clothes in the hamper and put clean on the next day. I don't understand it.

AnnieOnAMapleLeaf · 08/01/2019 01:35

I should add - there is no judgment on my previous post. I am a complete slob in other ways but refuse to get a junk chair.

I put up a towel bar in my room, high enough to hang anything I want to on it, and hang things on hangers and then on the towel bar if they have been worn. Works great!

I saved for years to buy my perfect bedroom furniture.
It is the only time in my life I bought what I wanted not what I could afford just then.
I found the perfect armchair & had it reupholstered to match the new furniture & room décor.
I purchased the perfect cushions to go on it which cost a small fortune.
I'm not sure what I thought I was going to do with it, but it is The Chair.
I can't actually see any of it under the mound of things I will put away eventually along with Lego creations my son has made me & left on it as a surprise balanced throughout the pile.
I'm pretty sure my new hot water bottle is in the pile somewhere.
I have never (yet) sat on my chair.
It didn't even make it ONE day in my 'perfect' new bedroom before stuff ended up on it.

We have an ottoman!

Njordsgrrrl · 08/01/2019 04:27

DP has a chair AND a bench. I have a stool but it's only got clean clothes on

I'll never forget teenage DD complaining her carpet was too dark and she couldn't find her clothes easily.

I recently got myself a personal Chair because I could not any longer stand sharing the top of the blanket box with DH. My chair at most has a couple of items of clothing draped neatly over it. DHs Box of Doom has weeks worth of t-shirts and hoodies in a heap - that is, if they’ve even made it that far. He also leaves clothes on the Dining room Chair of Doom or the Bottom Step of the Stairs.

Mummyoflittledragon · 08/01/2019 05:18

We used to. But I could never find my clothes or they were crumpled giving me the rage as dh piled clothes and other things on top any old how. So I banished it. Now we have the bannister. It’s very long and far more practical. Overnight we have the floordrobe. The dog eats dirty knickers so tidying up is a must.

Jellycat1 · 08/01/2019 05:53

Yes oh my gosh I thought it was just me Shock

redyawn · 08/01/2019 06:05

rabbitfoodadvocate · 08/01/2019 07:15

Yup. Tripped over the bastard thing not five minutes ago. Managed not to land on bump but have smashed a toe nail! It's now being removed by DH.

MrsExpo · 08/01/2019 07:19

No chair here. Just the spare bed ......... Grin

ShannonRockallMalin · 08/01/2019 07:44

yoyo1234 · 08/01/2019 07:48

QueenOfTheAndals · 08/01/2019 07:50

Not only do I have The Chair but I also have the box from the Kitchenaid I got for my birthday 2 years ago as it's quite useful for putting things on!

anniehm · 08/01/2019 08:00

Stall for the dressing table or shoved under the bed frame ... dh hates it!

Oblomov18 · 08/01/2019 08:02

Oh yes! Grin to finding things you never even remembered were there!!
Blanket box at the end of our bed.

Bezalelle · 08/01/2019 08:06

Yes!

The density of clothes upon it serve as a barometer for my general mood.

ByStarlight · 08/01/2019 08:06

I used to have ‘The Chair’.

Until, about 10 years ago, when ex-BF’s very drunken friend stayed over one weekend. In the middle of the night he burst into our bedroom, clearly in a half-conscious stupor, mistaking our room for the bathroom. ‘The Chair’ clearly looked like the toilet to him in the darkness....as he proceeded to use it as such!

Fortunately the pile of my clothes on it absorbed most of the liquid....

I no longer have ‘The Chair’.

grumiosmum · 08/01/2019 08:20

Yes. We have The Chair in every bedroom.

wallyfeatures · 08/01/2019 08:24

I believe I have a chair. I haven't seen it for a while though Hmm

ChilliMum · 08/01/2019 08:24

I have the chair too Grin I had no idea it was so common I am happy it's not just me.

Mine is dual purpose it houses barely worn clothes and props up the leaning tower of ironing I hide behind it.

I love my chair Smile
