Does anyone else have 'the chair' in their bedroom?

You know, the chair? The chair where worn but not ready to go in the wash clothes go because it feels weird hanging them back up if they're not clean?

Then the pile of clothes gets so big you can no longer see the chair. Then when you crack and de-clothe the chair you find things you'd totally forgotten about?

Or is this just me? Am I the only slovenly one?

I have an exercise bike - it's handy as you can hang the clothes from the handlebars!!!

StripeyChina · 08/01/2019 08:52

I have The Chair. Plus the exercise bike. Plus the footstool.
Plus the brass bedstead (handy knobs). Hooks and coatstand.
In my defence, I have lost a lot of weight over the last 2 years.
I have bought new clothes (all charity shop stuff) but been unable to give away the bigger things as I am scared I might need them again one day (and £ is a big issue hence all charity shop stuff).
The outside of my wardrobe is so covered I cannot open it :O

dustarr73 · 08/01/2019 09:18

Yes we did, until one night it looked like someone was sitting on the chair.Really freaked me and dp out.So much so he refused to look at it.

Babdoc · 08/01/2019 09:24

This thread motivated me to tidy up my own chair. I found two pairs of jeans I’d completely forgotten about under the pile of fleeces!
I then had to remove some (not worn for years) clothes from the wardrobe so I could put the fleeces on hangers. The charity shop can thank MN for the donation!

We got rid of The Chair, but now we have the 'not-the-laundry-bag bag' which fulfills the same function.

Odiepants · 08/01/2019 09:28

Yes I have the chair too which currently needs a serious sort out as I've lost some clothes and they're probably on the chair somewhere. DH uses the floor by his bed but he does put worn clothes back in his wardrobe too.

ShiningSally · 08/01/2019 09:28

Yes, I have 'the chair' and the 'floordrobe'

thesnapandfartisinfallible · 08/01/2019 09:46

Yes. And the Ottoman. And the Other Ottoman.

ItsQuietTime · 08/01/2019 09:49

I use to have a chair, I miss it. It all goes on my bedside cabinet now. Sad

paap1975 · 08/01/2019 09:50

Yep, we have one each and some hooks in the bathroom

RomanyRoots · 08/01/2019 09:51

Dh has the chair and I have the top of my ottoman.
Envious of those with chaise longues, I would love one, have the huge bedroom but no spare cash Grin

Leoni34 · 08/01/2019 09:53

I do not have a chair, but I do have a "the end of the bed" :)

OrigamiZoo · 08/01/2019 09:54

I have an ottoman and a basket, the basket is piled high with jeans and jumpers and I frequently need the jumper at the bottom, it all topples to the floor and I just pile it high again. The ottoman has the same principles with bedding.

DonDrapersOldFashioned · 08/01/2019 09:57

Not a chair but I have the large version of this for the same purpose.

DonDrapersOldFashioned · 08/01/2019 09:58

(We had ‘the chair’ but I wanted a tidier solution)

BrightYellowDaffodil · 08/01/2019 10:01

I have A Chair, but it is not The Chair. That function is taken by the top of a chest of drawers. A small chest of drawers, so as to limit the percentage of my wardrobe that can live there.

Occasionally there are no clothes there and it looks odd without them Confused

rabbitfoodadvocate · 08/01/2019 10:02

@ShannonRockallMalin Anyone's guess right now! Sodding chair!

BadBadBeans · 08/01/2019 10:04

We have pretty painted wooden frestanding towel rails for such clothes. One each. DH still chucks his clothes on The Chair....

DemonicEruption · 08/01/2019 10:07

I have The Chair. Which incidentally is also my desk chair. So when I need to sit at the computer the clothes get moved to The Bed until it's actually bedtime and they go back on The Chair. Grin My wardrobe is awkward and not very well lit and my drawers are stuffed as it is so i always put off putting clothes away properly!

moolady1977 · 08/01/2019 10:08

I have the chair, it's my ddads rocking chair which was meant to be for me reading in but now is covered in clothes, my oh has the shoe ottoman which he just chucks his work stuff on

WhatNow40 · 08/01/2019 10:11

I do this with a chest of draws, drape the on top. I've tried to cut this habit though. Especially with dresses. I'll turn them inside out and hang the dress back in the wardrobe. That way I know if they've been worn before, to then sling it in the wash after the 2nd outing.

Chewinggumwalk · 08/01/2019 10:14

This is precisely why DH will not let me have a chaise longue in our bedroom. It’s annoying because we have a long empty wall and it would look fab Hmm

OutPinked · 08/01/2019 10:17

No but the sitting chair in the room is a bit like that. Not dirty laundry but it always seems to have baby bags/cardigans/blankets/kids coats draped over it.

echt · 08/01/2019 10:39

I have two chairs. And a walk-in wardrobe.

I've got much more disciplined about not draping stuff over the chair that I might wear again and hang out in the WIW.

This has got me thinking to get rid of chair 2, though aesthetically it sets off the room. And the cat lies on it.

Ilovemypantry · 08/01/2019 10:55

echt. If the cat sits on the chair, you can’t possibly get rid of it 😻
