Does anyone else have 'the chair' in their bedroom?

You know, the chair? The chair where worn but not ready to go in the wash clothes go because it feels weird hanging them back up if they're not clean?

Then the pile of clothes gets so big you can no longer see the chair. Then when you crack and de-clothe the chair you find things you'd totally forgotten about?

Or is this just me? Am I the only slovenly one?

I use an old exercise bike

PositivelyPERF · 09/01/2019 18:16

Tighnabruaich I’m ridiculously excited. I’ve given up on running to the local dump, because it takes up so much time and then I end up back to square one. I’ve already started bagging up stuff, in preparation for it coming on Monday. A GIANT BIN! Woo hoo! Yes I’m that sad.

I’m just picturing the Uber organised, shoes off in the house and daily floor washers, reading this thread in abject horror. 🤣

Bloomcounty · 09/01/2019 18:17

I have an exercise bike version of "the chair". It's absolutely marvellous. I now legitimately have a reason not to put clothes away (cos if I can't see it, I can't use it and I can stay fat and happy).

Justletmego · 09/01/2019 18:18

Nope

Pumpkinbell · 09/01/2019 18:19

OP YES!!!! My husband has a chair in our bedroom which he loves to settle down in for an hour to relax in after a long day at work. I love to fill it with clothes but always get told off!!! Oh and he calls it MR READING CHAIR!!!!!!!

aidelmaidel · 09/01/2019 18:20

badger I thought it was going to be a toddler tantrum thread tbh

We have a doordrobe, the dog's crate, and two floordrobes, matching his-n-hers, one each side of the bed. There used to be a The Chair but I banished it because DH kept tripping on its legs in the middle of the night and waking me up cursing. So now the dog's crate is somewhere under a mighty pile of plausibly clean things and dog has to sleep on the floordrobe.

Purplealienpuke · 09/01/2019 18:23

Yep.... a dressing table stool. Not sure what colour it is.....
Actually that's not true, I cleared it of clothes at the weekend. I had to wash most of the stuff, I'd no clue if it was cleanish or dirtyish 🤔. Now the stuff is dry I don't have room in the wardrobe for it all 🤦‍♀️

Elsie1966 · 09/01/2019 18:25

Yes we have the chair
Clothes to walk dog in
Comfort clothe for around the house in
Shopping clothes and last but not least pjs Grin

Sara107 · 09/01/2019 18:25

A chair each for dh and me. I worked for a company that makes laundry detergents and the Chair is a universal thing!!!

Getmeoutoflondon · 09/01/2019 18:26

I was desperate for ‘the chair’ so I took one of my dining chairs for my bedroom 😂

Dontsweatthelittlestuff · 09/01/2019 18:29

I have a chair. I put stuff on it that is not ready for the wash basket. One or other of my cats then comes along and has a sleep on it so now it is covered on cat fur and ready to go in the wash.

Lulu1919 · 09/01/2019 18:36

Yes we have a chair
We also have The Drawer ....in the kitchen !!!!

ToftyAC · 09/01/2019 18:36

Oh god yes we have the chair. It’s the bane of my DPs life Grin

BlueEyedPersephone · 09/01/2019 18:43

Yes we have the chair and the drawer

wooo69 · 09/01/2019 18:43

I have the chair, an Ikea Poang with a thick cushion. It holds, at various times of the week, tomorrow’s work clothes, my lounging clothes, the still ok jeans from the weekend that will be ok next weekend. It’s actually purpose is as the home of one of those massaging cushions that massages your back, but that never gets used. The chair also is a cover for the footwear underneath it.

kerrynov7 · 09/01/2019 18:45

I used to have a rowing machine. It was particularly useful for exactly this purpose OP 😂

Pebble17 · 09/01/2019 18:47

Oh yes, we have that chair too

Nearly47 · 09/01/2019 18:47

I am in the process of getting rid of the chair. I never reuse the clothes I leave there ( apart from jeans) because they get creased. I end up forgetting to wash my favourite items because they are hurried under there. So try to find some pretty hooks to put on my wall to hang my bathrobe and maybe my jeans. Everything else will go straight on the laundry basket from now ( when I get the hooks) on.
Anyone has a suggestion of decorative wall mounted hooks that will take a heavy bathrobe?

bluescreen · 09/01/2019 18:48

Haven't RTFT yet but I have top of the blanket box and DH has an exercise bike. Blush
Oh, and I think there's a chair somewhere.

squishee · 09/01/2019 18:51

His and hers floordrobes here. No chair because I know how it would end up!
I used to have a wooden crate in the wardrobe for wear-agains. Must sort one out again.

Allgoodnamesaregone · 09/01/2019 18:51

I bought a cross trainer, which could only fit in my bedroom...but there was no longer space for THE CHAIR.

Guess what the cross trainer gets used for. . ...!

kennycat · 09/01/2019 19:13

I do! I actually cleared it today and sat on it to read in the sunny bay which was the original plan for ‘the chair’.
It’s a lovely reading spot it turns out!

elesbells · 09/01/2019 19:31

I have the chair. Dp was only saying yesterday that I need to throw it out Angry I’m glad this has been posted...I’m keeping my chair otherwise I’ll be jealous that everyone else has one and I don’t.
Yes it is full of clothes Blush

Bumblebee39 · 09/01/2019 19:36

Ooh I need a chair! I have always had one until now, and I am missing it!

alwayswinetime · 09/01/2019 19:38

I genuinely wish I could have “the chair”. I have a bit of an obsession about washing anything I’ve worn, even for only a short time.

DH doesn’t have a chair but he has the top of the chest of drawers where he puts stuff to wear again (only to find that I’ve moved them to the washing machine).
