Does anyone else have 'the chair' in their bedroom?

You know, the chair? The chair where worn but not ready to go in the wash clothes go because it feels weird hanging them back up if they're not clean?

Then the pile of clothes gets so big you can no longer see the chair. Then when you crack and de-clothe the chair you find things you'd totally forgotten about?

Or is this just me? Am I the only slovenly one?

After posting earlier on in this thread, it began to nag away at me. I was lying awake last night fretting about clutter and disorganisation. Got up earlier than usual and filled one bin bag with stuff not good enough for the charity shop and another bag with things for the charity shop which are perfectly good but which I'll never wear again.

Tonight I'm going to do the wardrobe and the bedside chest of drawers, and then it's on to the bureau and the bookcase. I am showing no mercy. As God is my witness I WILL be clutter free!

PositivelyPERF · 09/01/2019 16:34

I know what you mean, Tighnabruaich. I’ve ordered a skip! I’m not joking. It’s time I sorted this house out.

Tighnabruaich · 09/01/2019 17:09

PositivelyPERF It's scary at first but I was/and am being brutal. Too much stuff!!! Think how free and airy we will feel!

NotdeadyetBOING · 09/01/2019 17:23

YES YES - a thousand times YES. I have never been able to solve this situation. I have a massive sofa piled high with clothes in this weird twilight zone. What do clever Marie Kondo types do?

browneyes77 · 09/01/2019 17:33

And I thought it was just me Grin

Shame because it’s a beautiful chair aswell. Pity it’s disguised as a pile of clothes.

Justontherightsideofnormal · 09/01/2019 17:34

My dh pleaded to have a chair in the bedroom so he could sit on it and put on his socks ?! At the moment it’s absolutely covered in his clothes and has been for at least 6 months Hmm

Baconking · 09/01/2019 17:35

Yup!

I have a blanket box. DH has a doordrobe.
The spare bedroom is for a bed covered in clean washing!

ginyogarepeat · 09/01/2019 17:36

I don't have the chair. Instead I have multiple items hanging on the outside of my wardrobe at any given time.

MCCC · 09/01/2019 17:38

OMG for once I'm normal.

tiggerkid · 09/01/2019 17:40

Have one in the spare bedroom.

Nousernamefound · 09/01/2019 17:45

Yes! I usually end up just chucking ever in the wash.

EllenMP · 09/01/2019 17:48

Yep. I do try to re use the clothes on it within a day or two, though, and if husbo leaves things on it for more than a day I make an executive decision about whether to call them clean or dirty and relocate them accordingly.

GoldenBee · 09/01/2019 17:49

Yesss I have the chair too and the pile of clothes which are worn so can't go away with clean clothes but not quite ready/dirty enough to wash yet Blush

Holyshitbags · 09/01/2019 17:49

I love posts like this.
It makes me feel a lot better about my slovenliness 😁

biscuittime · 09/01/2019 17:51

I have a blanket box and the floor! I actually can’t get to my drawers due to the clothes on the floor and my blanket box !

DeniseRoyal · 09/01/2019 17:58

Double slob here, I have 2 chairs! 😀

hellswelshy · 09/01/2019 17:58

Yep we have 'a chair' Grin Dh thought we were the only ones, clearly not!! This has made me chuckle!

Mmest75 · 09/01/2019 17:59

Yep!!!!!!!
So need to get rid as always looks a mess in the bedroom

speakout · 09/01/2019 18:02

I call it having clothes in RAM.

Oh would like a lot of his clothes to be kept "handy" in a half way house.

Shoes in the hall, jacket on the back of the dining chair, boots in the corner of the kitchen.

We have 5 adults in eth house- if everyone did this the house would be a mess.

If a garment is clean enough to be worn again then it's clean enough to be put away.

I don't like clothes lying around.

WeeMadArthur · 09/01/2019 18:03

We have a chest of drawers at the end of the bed, with a clothes mountain on it. A chair simply wouldn’t be able to take the strain.

Kbear · 09/01/2019 18:03

I got new wardrobes with fabulous storage and now my floordrobe/chair issues are no more - if I've worn it to work I wash it, if I've worn it round the house I re hang it. God bless IKEA

baggies · 09/01/2019 18:04

Only a wicker washing basket here. Nice flat surface though. Can get loads on it.

AGnu · 09/01/2019 18:09

No space in our room for a chair. I use the baby's old Moses basket which we've been meaning to get rid of since she outgrew it. That was nearly a year ago... Blush I did buy a hat stand thing from IKEA thinking I could use that. I did for a little while but it's right next to where we change the baby so it's now functioning as her "chair"!

FrozenMargarita17 · 09/01/2019 18:12

I have several washing baskets full of clean washing that never manage to make it to the wardrobe.

I really hate hanging clothes.
