Does anyone else have 'the chair' in their bedroom?

You know, the chair? The chair where worn but not ready to go in the wash clothes go because it feels weird hanging them back up if they're not clean?

Then the pile of clothes gets so big you can no longer see the chair. Then when you crack and de-clothe the chair you find things you'd totally forgotten about?

Or is this just me? Am I the only slovenly one?

Absolutely. DH and I have one each.

marvellousnightforamooncup · 08/01/2019 20:26

I have a chair, an ottoman, a washing basket with clothes the kids have grown out of and a floordrobe [boasts].

Ggirl27 · 08/01/2019 20:39

I have a chair, my husband has a chair - it's just the done thing right?!

MsLucyLastic · 08/01/2019 21:20

"a washing basket with clothes the kids have grown out of" marvellousnightforamooncup?

I have visions of you lovingly planting babygrows in a soil-filled washbasket, and your kids gradually emerging from leaves Grin

GallicosCats · 08/01/2019 21:30

So what do tidy organised people do with the once-worn clothes that it's the wrong sort of weather or occasion to wear again straight away? Or do they only have 'capsule wardrobes' because they're boring so and so's who don't like colour ?

SirTifiable · 08/01/2019 21:31

@marvellousnightforamooncup

I gave my daughters food.

It worked very well and the grew up into beautiful women.

I never thought of putting them in growbags.

SirTifiable · 08/01/2019 21:34

They not the.

HoustonBess · 08/01/2019 21:43

It's kind of a pile with a chair hidden within it somewhere

wombatron · 08/01/2019 21:55

@GallicosCats we don't have the chair (I do but it has only 1 item of clothing on it ever). We have 'in play' areas. A shelf each in the wardrobe where our worn clothes go. We don't have an awful lot, we tend to have joggers and a pair of jeans and maybe 1 or 2 tshirts

HelenaJustina · 08/01/2019 21:58

Ha! My DH cleared the chair as a NY resolution and has now allocated an area in his wardrobe for ‘on the go’ clothing items... I feel so happy every time I look at a chair I can now sit on, it’s actually very comfy!

WaxOnFeckOff · 08/01/2019 21:59

Yeah, similar to wombatron as I posted earlier. i have a space that is room enough for a set of clothes but I clear it every saturday when doing the laundry and either wear it then, hang it up or shove it in wash. I have a 20 minute cycle which is good for freshen up, if it's been sitting for a week part worn then probably due a wash regardless. I've done a big clothes clearout and about to do another as I have drawers of stuff I haven't looked at in months.

JustDanceAddict · 08/01/2019 21:59

Yes but it has clean clothes in it that need to be ironed!!

marvellousnightforamooncup · 08/01/2019 22:04

It's not a dirty laundry bin. It's a plastic basket used for carrying laundry from machine to the line, except it's full of outgrown clothes ready to give away or recycle.

MrSlant · 08/01/2019 22:16

I feel inadequate, only having A Tub. Might go out and buy a chair just for the purpose of draping.

Slight de-rail but it reminds me a lot of when I got my new kitchen and proudly showed my friend the off-cut of lovely wooden kitchen surface that had been repurposed as a pretty top for the two small fridges we had (odd shaped kitchen, nowhere for a large one) and she opined wisely 'that looks ideal for a dumping ground of random crap' and I laughed and swished my hair at the thought. I curse her every time I try and clear it so I can actually see the beautiful wood underneath the giant messy piles of random household tat that accumulate there.

TooSassy · 08/01/2019 22:31

No chair. No floordrobe. No doordrobe. I have FAILED in life.

clippityclop · 08/01/2019 22:32

Dh and I have a chair each. Love the idea of 'on the go ' clothes on a shelf in the wardrobe...

6triesbuttingout · 08/01/2019 22:41

Hahaha I remembered this thread when ours fell over in the of the night. Dh was not amused that I seemed to find it so funny

littlegecko · 08/01/2019 22:42

I also have "the chair" you describe.

BlessYourCottonSocks · 08/01/2019 23:03

The chair.

(Hope no one recognises my crap!)

PositivelyPERF · 08/01/2019 23:19

I’m so proud of you, BlessYourCottonSocks. That is a glorious sight to behold. sniffle 😍

BartonHollow · 08/01/2019 23:24

I used to have a chair. The chair days were the good days

The chair is now a cardboard box of stuff I've sorted through from my move, and want to keep but have no storage for BlushGrin

I hate looking at it

SushiMonster · 08/01/2019 23:25

Dirt clothes go in the laundry basket.

Partly worn but clean clothes that aren’t going to be worn soon go back in the wardrobe/drawer.

Partly work clothes that will be worn soon ish or are not really clean enough to go back in the wardrobe but would be fine To eg cook dinner in or wear for a walk or something... go on the floordrobe in a corner of the room.

No room for a chair :-(

Banya400 · 08/01/2019 23:39

Yes, chair here too. Although the kids have plastic tubs.... always full of all sorts of crap plus immaculate unworn clothes and minging sports socks. It doesn't quite work...... but is slightly better than the floordrobe.

HauntedPencil · 08/01/2019 23:41

Yes, I have The Chair.

It was abandoned here when we moved in

Linnet · 09/01/2019 00:08

Dd1 has a chair, dd2 has a bean bag. We used to have a chair but I’m not sure what happened to it, so we now have the end of the bed. This means in the middle of the night everything falls off the bed and when you get up in the dark you half kill yourself falling over all the stuff on the floor that you can’t see! I must see about getting another chair, then finding a space for it, 🤔
