Does anyone else have 'the chair' in their bedroom?

You know, the chair? The chair where worn but not ready to go in the wash clothes go because it feels weird hanging them back up if they're not clean?

Then the pile of clothes gets so big you can no longer see the chair. Then when you crack and de-clothe the chair you find things you'd totally forgotten about?

Or is this just me? Am I the only slovenly one?

I have both The Chair (for work clothes only) and The Lid Of The Laundry Basket (casual clothes). I work half-days, so neither work clothes or casual clothes get much of a wear if I only wear them once before washing

I also have The Right Hand Side of the Clothes Airer for slightly worn sports kit (shorts, walking kit). The left hand side is used for actually airing clothes.

My entire bedroom is 'THE CHAIR'.

Funnily enough, I got sick of looking at all the mess yesterday morning and tidied it all away (not just clothes, but curtains that need hanging, duvets putting away, etc).

Woke up this morning and was so shocked at how big and empty the room looked that I took a photo of it (to remind me how nice it can look, when it inevitably gets messy again).

We have a bed settee which is covered... I really need to sort clothes out, but my dd is 5 and she thinks she's a model and has to change about 3 times after school. So it's her fault lol that's my story and I'm sticking to it lol.

KrystalTipps · 08/01/2019 17:00

yep - only mine is an ottoman. Not only is it covered in clothes it's full of ones that 'I will slim down enough to get back into one day' Grin

cushioncovers · 08/01/2019 17:01

Yep I have a chair.

Auntiepatricia · 08/01/2019 17:04

I have the chair and DH has The DH chair.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 08/01/2019 17:05

We have ‘the chair’ but it is piled high with books. You can’t see the chair as the floor is also covered in books.

The ‘laundry chair’ (aka iron mountain) is in the living room.

TheDogsMother · 08/01/2019 17:08

No chair but there is a wash basket. Clothes for the wash go in it, clean clothes go back in the wardrobe and everything is piled on top of it until the pile is teetering and decisions need to be made. DP has a whole room dedicated to his clothes at various stages of the wearing cycle.

Mildmanneredmum · 08/01/2019 17:16

Yes, I have The Chair. Everything piles up on the back bit until either it all falls off, or the chair tips over.

woodhill · 08/01/2019 17:16

Yes I do. Hang things on wardrobe door too

Yearofthemum · 08/01/2019 17:20

Obviously 😄

IamFrauBlucher · 08/01/2019 17:28

Mine used to be an exercise bike. 🤣

Now I have one of those hotel style clothes man things. You can fold jeans or trousers over the two middle bars and wrap a shirt on the shoulders.

But mine is is jeans, shirt and jumper jenga - all piled on top of the thing and due to topple at any second should a fly pass it.

NorthernSpirit · 08/01/2019 17:38

No. Absolutely refuse to have any surface that worn clothes can be put on!

Why have a chair in s bedroom? Dust collector that’s never used.

E20mom · 08/01/2019 18:42

I have it but it's in the spare room Smile

jimloop · 08/01/2019 18:44

We don’t have room for a real chair, I use the tiny chair from the Ikea table and chairs LATT set - my youngest is 16 so I think I’ve had my money’s worth!

Gth1234 · 08/01/2019 18:45

It's the walking machine, rather than the chair!

Bagadverts · 08/01/2019 18:50

I cleared off my chair yesterday

@SovietKitsch
what’s on the chair now? By now my bed would definitely be adorned

SovietKitsch · 08/01/2019 18:52

A pair of jeans and two bras...🙈 @bagadverts

PositivelyPERF · 08/01/2019 18:57

I plan on clearing my chair tonight, just as soon as I clear the bedside locker, dressing table and floor. Blush

SuziQ10 · 08/01/2019 18:57

Had 'the chair' my entire adolescences and early 20s. It was actually a double futon sofa.

When I moved in with my partner he said there would be no chair or sofa in new bedroom as I'll just put clothes on it. Now I put them in a neat(ish) pile in the corner so more fool him

flingingmelon · 08/01/2019 18:59

DH has the chair, I have the fancy linen chest Grin

Theonewiththecat · 08/01/2019 19:09

Dd (9) has 'the chair'
We had a floordrobe but I washed it all and put it away, my bedroom is now a relaxing place.

SirTifiable · 08/01/2019 20:18

I can confirm that Liss Lucy Lastic has a brand new very old chair in her bedroom.

For nocturnal purposes. Primarily.

But also for chucking clothes on.

Doesn’t everyone?

yogima · 08/01/2019 20:21

I have a chair. It's my chair. Not anyone else's chair. Mine. Which is probably why my husband uses the floor. Heathen!

TakenForSlanted · 08/01/2019 20:22

I have The Chair but also The Dresser to deal with any overflow for when The Chair is no longer merely invisible but at serious risk of collapse.
