Just that really, sorry no drip feed here! Love my hubby and have 2 beautiful DC - perfect life really! My Brother in Law has been over from USA for the holidays and I feel like I fancy him. Its so weird, am I normal?? He's like my DH in alot of ways bit also different. Nothing will EVER happen but feel attracted to him. I'm beating myself up??!! 🤔🙈😲😔

Hopefully you are drunk and it will all be forgotten in the morning. Don’t go there

Racecardriver · 01/01/2019 01:16

Well not in my experience. Does he look a lot like your DH though? Mine doesn’t. I find men that look a lot like like my DH are super attractive compared to the rest of the population. I think the sleep deprivation has finally sent me mad.

FissionChips · 01/01/2019 01:16

It’s normal for guests on the Jeremy Kyle show.

Put the drink down and sleep.

Redshoeblueshoe · 01/01/2019 01:18

If I ever fancied my wanker Bil I would seek psychiatric help immediately

whatsthepointthen · 01/01/2019 01:18

nope

Harrykanesrightsock · 01/01/2019 01:20

No. Just no. He is my FIL reincarnated. Just no.

katekat383 · 01/01/2019 01:20

Erm... no. Practically incest. Ugh

jessstan2 · 01/01/2019 01:20

If our soap operas reflect real life, it would be extremely unusual not to fancy an in-law! However I'm not quite convinced of that.

Fancying someone in your head is one thing, making a move is quite another! You'd regret it.

Fantasies come and go but rarely reflect reality.

queenqueenqueen · 01/01/2019 01:20

@racecardriver hah yes they look unbelievably similar but are also quite different it's so strange!

TheFaerieQueene · 01/01/2019 01:21

No. Not at all. He is a nice chap but no.

Newsername · 01/01/2019 01:22

Yuck yuck yuck yuck. No. Never. Did I mention, yuck?

queenqueenqueen · 01/01/2019 01:22

Categorically would NEVER make a move!!!!! Not in a million years

OP posts:
Racecardriver · 01/01/2019 01:23

Maybe that’s what it is? Maybe you’ve associated you husband with sex and when someone who looked looking me him came along you found him sexually attractive?

queenqueenqueen · 01/01/2019 01:23

@redshoeblueshoe 😂😂😂

Contrary to PP I have a few friends who have said they really fancy BIL 🤷🏻‍♀️ usually they've been complaining that they got the short end of the family stick and ended up splitting up though 😬

Santaisfastasleepatlast · 01/01/2019 01:25

My bil was all the good bits of my exh without the bad bits!!
A one- off got it out of my system.
And his.
Never mentioned.
Never found out.
Long long ago.
To long in the tooth to give a fuck about a flaming either.

Luglio · 01/01/2019 01:26

No.
No, no, no. Not in a month of Sundays You loon

Grilledaubergines · 01/01/2019 01:26

Erm... no. Practically incest. Ugh

Someone’s been at the cooking sherry.🙄

OP, I’d say it’s neither normal or abnormal. If you find someone attractive then it is what it is.

Imagine if you acted upon every idle fancy throughout your lifetime?

Most people don’t act on that attraction. Because they don’t want/need to and see it for what it is. The fact that it’s your BIL means nothing unless you were to act upon the attraction.

queenqueenqueen · 01/01/2019 01:27

@racecardriver yes I think you're right, my hubby is gorgeous and we've been together (and v much in love for 18 years) only met his brother 4 times maybe I'm going mad!! Literally no one I could talk to about this! Haha hello Mumsnet

OP posts:
SantasBassoon · 01/01/2019 01:30

What's your FIL like? (Asking for a friend)

duckeggbluenotblue · 01/01/2019 01:32

@santasbassoon not like either of them!!

Gwenhwyfar · 01/01/2019 01:36

Not likely to ever have a husband or a sister so not talking from personal experience, but I would think it's quite common because of the similarity and also because you might spend quite a bit of time together.

brizzledrizzle · 01/01/2019 01:39

About as normal as feeling attracted to Donald trump or Nigel farage

Branleuse · 01/01/2019 01:42

I think my BIL is very beautiful. If i was a bit younger then I might fancy him.

Its pretty normal to fancy people a bit. I quite often have someone ive got the hots for a bit but doesnt mean id pursue them

DramaAlpaca · 01/01/2019 01:45

No! BIL is the big brother I never had, I couldn't think of him any other way.
