I know it's yet another brexit thread but it genuinely just hit me that it's actually happening THIS YEAR! I am truly gutted. Would love someone with political knowledge to come on and reassure me that it actually won't be that bad. I have 3 children who have to live with the repercussions.

buble is on jules holland-this has to be a good sign

to add I think something like a total of 600 refugees/displaced people tried to cross the English Channel this year, with a bigger proportion of that 600 happening since November so a bit of an increase in monthly figures these last 2 months. However, overall these numbers are still very small. Yet to read much of our media as well as people like our Home Secretary they are talking as if UK is facing a refugee migrant crisis with huge numbers.

Ok @Ta1kinPeace 👍👍

Your intelligence has blown me away.
Have you looked up the definition of racist yet?
Or the racial origins of the population of EU member countries?

earthmover I was not born in the EU

What in God's name has that got to do with it?Grin
Ive given you enough clues and all you can say In reply is that you were born outside the EU???

OK. You called me a racist because I think we are correct to close our borders/ end FOM and you suggested that I was racist for holding this view.
I suggested that this was more of a nationalist trait because the EU is predominantly caucasian and so is the UK.
I'm still awaiting a response?
Which part of my post was racist?

dumb question. If I'm from another EU country, but resident in the UK, does that mean I'm still an EU citizen?

Ta1kinPeace · 04/01/2019 20:48

What does your passport say?

Earthmover · 04/01/2019 20:51

Ta1kinPeace. I'll take that as a no comment then.

Your debating skills are second to none. Literally.

It looks like it is going to happen. There were points when I wasn’t sure but now I’m almost certain that a no deal Brexit is a reality that we are all (sadly) facing. It feels like the whole country is destabilised. I try not to worry about it too much because at the end of the day what can we do? This is all down to David Cameron’s decision to hold the vote. Was it (the promise to hold a vote) really worth it just to get the Conservative government another term in power? I think at least 1 million of the voters who voted leave either did not know what they were voting for or voted leave as a protest vote not really thinking that there would be a leave majority. Many people have been unhappy with the EU for a long time and I understand some of the reasons why and voted leave without fully understanding what that would mean. 2019 is going to be a very uncertain time. If things get really bad I wonder if there are any plans in place to put the whole thing on hold and to hold another vote.
