I know it's yet another brexit thread but it genuinely just hit me that it's actually happening THIS YEAR! I am truly gutted. Would love someone with political knowledge to come on and reassure me that it actually won't be that bad. I have 3 children who have to live with the repercussions.

buble is on jules holland-this has to be a good sign

Sorry, no-one can reassure you. If it goes through it's going to be really terrible. All that we can hope for is another vote on this complete and utter mess.

tryingtomoveon10 · 01/01/2019 00:25

It's going to be a shit show. RIP Britain.

(Apparently, gin makes me a pessimist)

curlykaren · 01/01/2019 00:26

I feel exactly the same, it's so shit. I already think it IS bad, what with all the money the government have had to conjure up for Brexit plans. It's a fucking discrace and farce that we can't manage to provide decent care for the sick or educational opportunities for all but we can afford Brexit shit. Bollocks.

ButteryParsnips · 01/01/2019 00:29

Totally share your feelings but I still have hopes it'll all be averted.

JumpingJunipersBatman · 01/01/2019 00:30

It will be bad but we'll all come out the other side. Things will change and who knows where we'll end up and what our war wounds will look like but we'll survive it.

I worry about the impact it will have on my children but all we can do is deal with it as it happens.

I desperately hope it doesn't happen.

DappledThings · 01/01/2019 00:35

It's a proper punch to the stomach every time I think about it. I'll always be European even if not a EU citizen.

I still hold out hope we can pull back from the brink. But I am desperately sad about it. Politically and economically a disaster but also emotionally.

IamtheDevilsAvocado · 01/01/2019 00:36

Please everyone who is against this lunacy...

Please write to your MPs... Let them know how bad it is for you!

Lovellama · 01/01/2019 00:37

I desperately hope it doesn't happen.

Paddy Ashdown on the morning after the vote:

I turned to [his wife] Jane and I think there were probably tears in my eyes, and said, "It’s not our country any more"

This sums it up for me.

TotesEmoshTerri · 01/01/2019 00:40

If we could somehow get everyone to write to their MPs about this, it might not change anything but it'd make one heck of an impact on their thinking going forward

OlennasWimple · 01/01/2019 00:41

I know, OP. It's shit, isn't it?

Lottapianos · 01/01/2019 00:42

'Totally share your feelings but I still have hopes it'll all be averted."

Me too. Not based on much hard fact, but I can't believe this government, heartless bunch of incompetent twerps that they are
would want their lovely legacy sullied by the utter shitshow of a No Deal.

iVampire · 01/01/2019 00:43

I was watching TOTP2 this evening.

It ended with the theme tune of the next couple of months:

Europe - The Final Countdown

Angrybird345 · 01/01/2019 00:43

I love that the French are pulling down EU flags tonight .... sign of the times!

Togaandsandals · 01/01/2019 00:45

It’s utterly crap :(

ragged · 01/01/2019 00:46

I was mulling over 17yo Dd doing a gap year after A-levels... how to do it on the cheap. Working her way across EU is out, now. Bummer.

TheSandman · 01/01/2019 00:47

For those of us in Scotland there is a simple route out: Independence then back into the EU.

Efferlunt · 01/01/2019 00:47

I hate it. Not looking forward to 2019 at all. Im normally fairly optimistic on NYE!

Crudd · 01/01/2019 00:49

It's awful. We've emigrated since the vote but, even though we'll escape the worst of it, it makes me really angry and embarrassed.

GimmeGimmeHellYeah · 01/01/2019 00:50

On behalf of most of Scotland... I'm sorry.

I watched a depr ssinf ten minute video interviewing a group of British ex pats on the Spanish coast. They loved living there but all voted for Brexit. They will probably be able to stay but they had no sense they had stopped most of the next generation being able to retire in the sun. The wealthy will still be able to but those on average incomes will not be.

ilovesooty · 01/01/2019 00:57

There's always one isn't there? Hmm

I agree with those praying for a miracle. Sad

Togaandsandals · 01/01/2019 00:58
  • typo, depressing. Even my keyboard is too depressed to write it.
MissMalice · 01/01/2019 00:59

It makes me want to cry. So much opportunity lost.
