To want a Dyson Airwrap

My hair is hideously straight. Poker straight. Not-in-a-good-way straight. Just sodding straight.

I have, over the years, spent much money on heated rollers. I've tried blow-drying with a big metal brush. I've tried every effing thing to get a bit of bounce into my stupid straight hair. My current curling device is Remington straighteners - it's fine for about 25 minutes (so long as there isn't a scrap of moisture in the air) but my hair is snapping off at the ends. It's long - or was, until it started snapping off. FML.

I covet the Dyson Airwrap. I could afford it if I gave up eating for several months, and cut back on several other things. But is it worth it?

I have thick hair and had mine done in John lewis today , I was amazed at the results actually. Would buy one if it wasn't for needing to get a house instead!!

notagoodday how long did the curls last?

About 6/7 hours as perfect curls with no product in them

Right it’s back in stock on dyson - I got the email and leapt on it! I really hope it’s worth blowing my toiletries budget for the next 10 months on!

@Stopwoofing - will Dyson refund you if it's not suitable? I must admit I thought only QVC would do that.

35 day returns policy so that should be safe if I don’t think it is amazing

back in stock on John Lewis website. I so want this to work - I've got fine, curly hair that only really looks any good when I've had at it with my Babyliss Big Hair. Which unfortunately seems to be pulling most of said hair out each time...

@StopWoofing

paranoid here - but are they saying you can get a refund within 35 days if you haven't used the product? I would check before parting with that amount of money. I bought the hairdryer from QVC because - I thought - it was the only place that would actually let me try the product and still give a full refund. I asked at Boots - because of card points - and they said a refund was fine as long as product hadn't been used.

God I hate this thread. Just as I’m getting over my desire to get an air wrap then this thread pops up again!

I just head a look - I don’t see anywhere it says unused - how would they know? On the upside, there should be a lively market in second hand stylers soon!

@Stopwoofing

well they might not accept it as a return if the seal on the packaging was broken. It looks like it's saying "if you change your mind" not "if you try it and don't like it".

I'm always very cautious about spending 10p though, so may not be the best person to comment!

QVC returns are even if you use it. I sent foundation back.

Hi
I have an airwrap, got very fine hair, in a bob .. and not sure about it to be honest, it seems clumsy to use.. but only been trying for two days, hair does appear frizzy, compared to the dyson dryer and hair straighteners...
was told i could return if not happy, need to check if this does cover if been used or not... if you have thick or medium hair and its of a good lenght ie shoulder then i think it will be perfect for this...:-)

I’ve got fine hair - I love it - but mostly because it’s so fast - I can smooth/volume to a decent style in 3-4 mins. I agree the curler takes a lot of practice, I’ve had two goes with that, one better than the other

@LadyHooHa so you've had it a month now? Thoughts?

@LadyHooHa oh, no you haven't. Ignore me!

I just wondered how people are getting on with them after a few months?

I'm thinking of ordering one but can't find reviews from people who've had them a a while.

I've had mine since Xmas. I use it almost every day. It's so reliable. It gives me consistently good hair. I'm hooked!

That's good to hear Blankie, my hair has been falling out for a while, I've started using a special shampoo which has slowed it drastically so I want to look after it and not use excessive heat on it.

Have you noticed any improvements in the condition of your hair?

Report
Blankiefan · 30/04/2019 07:11

No Gertie. But I'm probably quite an unusual user. I pretty much ignored my mop of hair before I had the airwrap as efforts I made with diffusers or curling irons took ages and were hit and miss. So I didn't bother trying outside of rare big events.

Now I do my hair pretty much every day as I know I'll get consistently good results. So I'm getting more heat than previously. I now use a heat defenses spray and haven't noticed any damage.

I still adore mine 4months on and wouldn't be without it.
So easy to dry straight if your in mega rush and still looks good when slept on.
Curls are quite quick for me to do now and they do drop out after sleeping on it but hair still has brilliant volume and looks good without redoing.

I've ordered one and it's arriving tomorrow before 12!
This time tomorrow I expect myself and 2 dd's to have wavy hair.

It's good to hear people still love them after the initial excitement.

I still haven't got round to doing the curls properly however the brushes are great and my hair looks far better. Still haven't needed to use the straighteners again

I'm still using mine every day, I love it, it's been life changing. My hair looks and feels much better. I've had several compliments too. I reckon if you regularly style your hair, there may be benefits to the health of your hair, but if you're like me and never bothered as it took too long and was a faff, this is a great tool as it is easy to use.

I do use the volume brush, smoother and rough dryer more than the curls but that's because I'm nearly always time poor and the curls are still a bit more fiddly and require a bit of concentration.

Report
stopwoofing · 30/04/2019 18:03

sorry, not life changing - it is after all only hair, per fleabag. It's certainly made me stop agonising over my hair though!
