To want a Dyson Airwrap

My hair is hideously straight. Poker straight. Not-in-a-good-way straight. Just sodding straight.

I have, over the years, spent much money on heated rollers. I've tried blow-drying with a big metal brush. I've tried every effing thing to get a bit of bounce into my stupid straight hair. My current curling device is Remington straighteners - it's fine for about 25 minutes (so long as there isn't a scrap of moisture in the air) but my hair is snapping off at the ends. It's long - or was, until it started snapping off. FML.

I covet the Dyson Airwrap. I could afford it if I gave up eating for several months, and cut back on several other things. But is it worth it?

I'm mainly interested in it not giving heat damage, after losing so much hair I now have hundreds of new hairs that are anything between 1" and 4" long amongst my shoulder length hair, if I just dry it and leave it they make my hair look dull and frizzy so I have to run the straighteners over it.

I'm hoping the smoothing brush will give me the same result without the intense heat.

Since I got mine in January I haven't used any other hair tool.
My hair has grown and is shiny. I would definitely say the novelty of using it has worn off and I use the smoothing brushes now more than the curls but I'm converted.

I wanted one too but my colleague just got one and honestly since she did her hair has never been worse. It’s really frizzy on top now, and whenever she uses any of the curl functions it’s really messy and ratty. But, it may just be that she hasn’t got the hang of it yet? It’s given me real second thoughts though.

I've had mine since early November, I still use it every day and if it broke I would go out and replace it. The condition of my hair is amazing, very shiny and soft and I have sussed the curling part so can get loads of different looks.
My hair becomes a frizzy mass in humidity and this has stopped all that.

It's arrived and I've tried it out.

The thing I'm impressed with is how it's put volume at the roots, I used the dryer first then the flat brush then the curlers, my hair looks twice as thick.

I don't think the curls look any better than the hot iron ones but they were quicker to do and it's nice to know it hasn't damaged my hair, it was also easier to curl closer to my head because it automatically grabbed the hair and I didn't need to worry about burning my scalp.

I've also used it on dd, her hair is long and poker straight, I found it frustrating how the hair slipped down the handle because there's so much to wind around, I ended up sucking the bottom half up then waiting for 10 seconds to curl then let it fall down the barrel as I got closer to her scalp, it's pretty much dropped out though after half an hour. I did do it really quick (10 minutes for her whole head) and didn't put any products on, I'll have a better go another time and dampen it more.
Her hair never holds curl though, she can have a plaît in all day and all the kinks are gone in 5 minutes.

My anti hair loss shampoo recommends to be used every day which I haven't been doing because I was worried about damaging it with drying and styling but now I'll definitely do it daily.

yeah I reckon the curl bit will be improved in later versions, have the same problem with my DD's lovely hair but as a kit I like it, good package.

Can I ask how everyone's getting on with their air wraps? I got mine at the weekend after testing one in John Lewis. So far I mostly love it but need to work on my technique to get my curls to come out as well as the lady at John Lewis got them. Yesterday I ended up with a bit of a rat's nest as I used too many products in an attempt to get my curls to last. Today I'm going to try not using any products before I style, then a tiny bit of serum above the curls and light hold hairspray all over. If anyone has figured out what products to use, especially anyone with fine, damaged hair like me, please tell!

My results today were a bit better than yesterday's. Still not perfect but I think I'm getting there. The curls have been holding up pretty well with the hairspray.

Does anyone still use it? Still recommend? Because I STILL want one

Can anyone tell me if they think using this is bad for the hair? I lost a lot back when I used to straighten it, so that's my main concern, I have read about them and thought they looked really good!

I adore mine, it's the only way I can get lasting curls in my poker straight fine hair.

I find it speeds up my morning routine, and as it stays smooth I can get away with not washing it an extra day.

I have one and as much as I really like it, I don’t love it. The hair dryer is excellent and drys my hair in next to no time. I love the straightener tool as well and my hair stays straight till the next time once a week I wash it but when I’ve tried curling my hair they fall out before I’ve even finished the next section. I will keep trying with it as I think I let it get too dry. I have waist length very thick hair if that helps.
In my local shopping mall they have a dyson shop and you can try the air wraps before you buy. Maybe see if yours does too? They also have them in John Lewis to try

reviviving an ancient thread!
I'd wanted one of these for a while, hung on to see if they got cheaper around Black Friday (they didn't!), then found one on a site called Tecobuy at just over £100 discount, so now ordered and eagerly awaited.
I've been using curly girl method most of this year, but my hair doesn't airdry fast enough in this weather!
It's the promise of drying (and curling) without lots of heat that's the main attraction.

With Dyson, can you return it even if you’ve tried it?

DH bought me one last week as a birthday present. So far, I love it. It saves me so much time in doing my hair. My hair is thick and a bit wavy, I've used the dryer and the comb attachments and loved it. I tried the curler yesterday but had let my hair dry too much so struggled a little with it. My hair is shoulder length at moment and I think it will be better when my hair is a bit longer. I did struggle a little with the technique due to my hair length but did get some great curls on the bit I managed to do it on.
