why why why would anyone want to do this to a three year old????? I went to a childrens party at the weekend, there was a lovely little girl there with the most awful blingy "diamond" earings pulling her ears down - ear piercing hurts, it is tantamount to child abuse IMO.

Just an update.

I had DD's ears pierced 2wks ago.

She is fine.

I had her jabs this morning.

She screamed more this morning at the doctors than when she had her ears pierced!!!!

afternoon all, i have just been shopping and as i walked past claires i saw a baby having her ears pierced , only one young assistant did it and the baby had to endure the pain twice i think it is digusting i think you should wait and let the child decide when they are over 5 at least, please dont all start ranting at me its just my opinion, i hardly think comparing ear piercing to having vital jabs is relevant, but i also know that everyone is entiltled to do what they want where there child is involved just wouldnt do it myself.

i had my ears peirced at age 3 after going on at my mum for ages about it! she warned me of the pain and expected me to tell them to stop after the 1st one, i didnt make a sound through the whole thing!

However a baby is completely different there is no way i would put my child through that unless it was their decision! and i honestly say i cant see a reason why anyone would!!

my MIL kept going on about it when dd was tiny and even talked about doing it while she was babysitting her, DH threatened her that if she ever did she would never see dd again!

There is this freaky bit in an add for a doll's house on NickJr where the camera focuses in on the girl actor's ears (she's probably about 6 or 7) which are pierced with a hoop earing. It freaked me out because it seemed to suggest that having your ears pierced is aspirational for little girls. Don't think it should be banned but don't think it should be glorified on telly either
