Oh gosh

I wouldnt say that 'maybe its my....' quote Calvin

Itll go down like a ton of bricks

Though if you do decide to say it on the dog board let me know, I'll pop straight over

Elfinablender · 07/12/2018 16:59

I know enough

Grin I'm going to try that on the Brexit board.

Calvinsmam · 07/12/2018 17:00

anyone who drives a Ford is worthless scum".

And where have people been saying all trans people are worthless scum?

CuriousaboutSamphire · 07/12/2018 17:01

Jezebel Enough what?

You open admit knowing fuck all about the subject. Is absolute zero enough these days?

Meh!

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 07/12/2018 17:01

That could be true. But 10% is a pretty large number on a forum as popular as this one

But the 10% also includes all the 'you are all transpobes' type posters

feelingverylazytoday · 07/12/2018 17:02

I know enough
So knowing nothing is enough for you then? Lol, who needs things like knowledge, facts and evidence?

Thejezebel · 07/12/2018 17:02

I've told you, I'm giving an unbiased opinion on the OP of this thread which is that I personally perceive the Feminism board to be a frenetic fraught overwrought frenzied preoccupation with transwomen at the moment. So I agree with the article.
Simple as that.
I'm not thick. I can read. And when post after post after post wants to go against current political movements giving trans people certain rights, yes, as an observer rather than having very strong feelings either way, I am well placed to give an unbiased opinion of what I perceive.
Like that, lump it. I genuinely can't feel too bothered about this.

SpiderJoe · 07/12/2018 17:02

I don't know anything about the history of slavery, Jim Crow laws, Apartheid, Britain's role in the slave trade, the Black Lives Matter movement, the depiction of black people in media, the lack of black people in board rooms, government or in film and TV but I think that this lack of knowledge makes me the most appropriate person to decide that white people as a class do not discriminate against black people and that black people have always been treated equally.

BruegeITheEIder · 07/12/2018 17:03

And where have people been saying all trans people are worthless scum?

What? Are you being deliberately obtuse?

I don't know why I'm even posting in this thread, like I said at the start, they always go the same way. There is no transphobia on mumsnet! Everybody outside the feminism board is wrong.

Hidingtonothing · 07/12/2018 17:03

I have never seen trans people referred to as 'worthless scum' or anything remotely along those lines on MN. Not even the worst of the TRA's are spoken about in that kind of language on here.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 07/12/2018 17:04

elfinablender

Can you let me know when you intend popping to the brexit board and saying that

Please and thank you

recovery18 · 07/12/2018 17:05

I am not remotely surprised.

It's the one thing about MN that I absolutely detest.

RedToothBrush · 07/12/2018 17:06

One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter.

Or should that be woman.

We shouldn't censor difficult areas, simply because our definition doesn't match someone elses.

We have to work together to bridge the gap...

I'm going to try that on the Brexit board.

Can I just shout NORTHERN IRELAND and have done with it?

willowflower19 · 07/12/2018 17:07

Sounds accurate to me.

ChristmasWrappingTheWaitresses · 07/12/2018 17:09

Well as it would appear that reality is classed as transphobic nowadays. And mumsnetters by and large seem sensible and grounded in reality.....

I wouldn't worry too much. I think the nonsense will burn itself out. It's a fad ATM but a dangerous and damaging one so will not survive.

sackrifice · 07/12/2018 17:09

It's the one thing about MN that I absolutely detest.

You detest women who are concerned about womens' and girls' rights?

Crikey.

OldCrone · 07/12/2018 17:09

I don't know who Karen White is, I didn't know Ian Huntley is now claiming to be trans. I don't know what a terf is or what the GRA is. So I don't know enough to be involved in a discussion on transexualism itself.

It is perhaps my ignorance of transexualism (or the issues with it that a lot of posters here have) that gives me an unbiased and objective opinion.

How can not knowing anything about a topic mean you can have any sort of opinion about it, jezebel?

Karen White:
White entered the UK prison system as transgender. However, despite dressing as a woman, the 52-year-old had not undergone any surgery and was still legally a male. She was also a convicted paedophile and on remand for grievous bodily harm, burglary, multiple rapes and other sexual offences against women.
www.theguardian.com/society/2018/oct/11/karen-white-how-manipulative-and-controlling-offender-attacked-again-transgender-prison

So you do agree then that the term transphobic is apt for a lot of the posters here? Fear of transexuals. Or specifically fear of transwomen.

Do you agree that there might be a good reason why some of us think that people like Karen White shouldn't be in women's spaces? And that some of us might actually fear people like Karen White?

CuriousaboutSamphire · 07/12/2018 17:12

Jezebel that is just ludicrous! I suspect you know it.

You have certainly given no evidence of having read any of the posts here responding to you!

That really isn't making your opinion any more informed! Just more of a kneejerk reaction based on some unknown, unknowable stuff

LoadOfUtterBoswellocks · 07/12/2018 17:12

I have nothing but empathy and kindness for transgender PEOPLE. What I "hate" is:

  • the inherently sexist language that surrounds transgenderism
  • the idea that there is something 'wrong' with a person's body, that being a man or a woman is 'wrong' and that the way to deal with this deep and life-limiting identity schism is to pump that person full of drugs and perform extreme and expensive surgery, rather than talking therapy to address the distress
  • the idea that MN puts forward, "an especially narrow vision of womanhood—one that specifically excludes trans women". That is not an "especially narrow vision of womanhood". The definition of "woman" is NOT now "adult human female" according to TRAs, although if you looked it up in a dictionary or biology textbook that is precisely what the definition would be
  • that even questioning the current rhetoric gets you the label of transphobic

And when post after post after post wants to go against current political movements giving trans people certain rights
What rights do trans people need that they don't already have, jezebel?

CuriousaboutSamphire · 07/12/2018 17:15

If there has I might just stock up! If this kind of crap is reality for the long term I may just as well Jim Jones my way out!

CuriousaboutSamphire · 07/12/2018 17:16

Are we counting them Spartacus ? I think I have the trinity! But the one hit wonders may swell the ranks. Not quite Legion Smile

Oblomov18 · 07/12/2018 17:16

Load of old bollocks.
Just because we think that if you are born a woman, you can't become a man, and vice-versa, we are labelled transphobic. Nonsense.
